Over the weekend, we braved the Saturday crowd at our local H-Mart. I grabbed supplies to make rosé tteokbokki. It was so good! Highly recommend the linked recipe.

Have you tried any new recipes lately that turned out amazing?

Shoutout to Malaraa for posting about this in the SBTB Patreon Discord! One of the oldest surviving operas by a Black composer will be played for the first time.

Denali Foxx, a drag queen who appeared on the thirteenth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, is a talented figure skater. There’s a whole playlist of Denali interviewing other drag performers while on ice.

In a small, British town, a plate of peeled bananas appear on the same street corner on the second day of the month. I am fascinated.

Re:opera. I watched Edmund Dédé’s Morgaine last Friday. The UMD performing arts center had a live stream. Unsurprisingly, the actual plot was more than a little dated and a bit problematic in places. But the music was great! Immediately appealing. Written in 1887, this definitely sounds like a Romantic Era piece in absolutely the best way. So tuneful. And, in the best tradition of opera, the plotting is completely over-the-top. The final act’s plot twist is completely predictable and advertised loudly in the first act because opera. Highly recommend!

Here’s a very easy recipe for a Thai condiment that I make about twice a week. We use it on rice, salmon , eggs etc. You can increase the heat level as desired.

In the banana story I like that the person who put up the sign that failed to prevent their appearance was relatively chill about it.

I made Chinese almond cookies-they’re just like the ones you get in the restaurant. The recipe is from King Arthur Baking, their recipes have never disappointed me.

I was really hoping the BBC did a stake out or at least hid a trail camera to get to the bottom of the banana mystery. Alas, I fear this is yet another sign that journalism really is dead.

Just a heads up for Kindle users who use the usb transfer download option, Amazon is removing that option February 26th. Be sure to backup your purchases before that date.
