It’s our last Links of 2023! Next week, we’ll be taking a break from content to run our Best Of lists, from posts to reviews to Cover Snark.
I want to take a moment to reflect on these posts. When I started doing them, it was just a way to show off some cool or interesting things from around the internet. And it still is! However, I love that it’s also morphed into a little hangout spot, a community within the larger SBTB community. To lurkers and commenters alike, thank you so much!
Wishing you all a restful holiday season! I know I’ll either be at my computer, players hours upon hours of Final Fantasy XIV or trying (and possibly failing) to get some reading done.

We learned about the All Black Book Affair from Natasha Bishop on Instagram! There’s a humungous spreadsheet of book sales by Black authors across a variety of genres. It started earlier this week, so some sales may be gone though there are plenty still active today, tomorrow, and Friday. If you pick any up, definitely tell us what you snagged!

If you’re on NetGalley, they’ve come out with a reading journal, which is an editable PDF that you can use to track your reading.

The Chicago area is getting another romance bookstore! Grab the confetti launchers! Check out The Last Chapter Book Shop. If you live in the area, have you been?

Thanks to EC Spurlock for this link! Here’s a wonderful list of fantasy novels that feature the joys of bread and baking. Each recommendation also has a note about how baking is featured within the book.

Sarah let us know about the DOD Morale, Welfare and Recreation library! It’s an online library of all sorts of resources for all branches of the military – but eligibility is pretty wide: Active duty, reserve, national guard, retired, medal of honor recipients, eligible family members, and DOD and CG civilians stationed outside the US.

Don’t forget to share what cool or interesting things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!
I’ve forgotten about this for a few days—the pretty cool story of the world’s most prolific film extra (now subject of a documentary):

My library has recently added Craftsy to its Overdrive/Libby offerings. Craftsy has 1,300+ free on-demand classes on a wide variety of arts and crafts skills from qualified instructors – fiber arts, plus painting, drawing, cake decorating, etc. I know a lot of folks here in the Pink Palace are the craft-type, so it’s worth checking to see if your libraries have it (and if they don’t but have Libby, ask them to get it!).
@EC Spurlock, thank you for the Tor.com baking link! I will be making some Redwall nut bread.
@Kate, You’re welcome! I’m looking forward to trying it too!
