Legends & Lattes
RECOMMENDED: Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree is $2.99! Carrie gave this one a Squee grade:
Friends, I have to tell you that Legends and Lattes is absolutely, utterly delightful. It was as comforting as the coffeehouse setting that the protagonist attempts to create. It’s a cinnamon roll of a book which, by the way, contains actual cinnamon rolls. I am in love.
High Fantasy with a double-shot of self-reinvention
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv the orc barbarian cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen.
However, her dreams of a fresh start pulling shots instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners and a different kind of resolve.
A hot cup of fantasy slice-of-life with a dollop of romantic froth.

Hello Stranger
Hello Stranger by Katherine Center is $3.99! We mentioned this one on a previous Hide Your Wallet and I believe early readers of the book had good things to say. The heroine is an artist with face blindness.
Sadie Montgomery never saw what was coming . . . Literally! One minute she’s celebrating the biggest achievement of her life—placing as a finalist in the North American Portrait Society competition—the next, she’s lying in a hospital bed diagnosed with a “probably temporary” condition known as face blindness. She can see, but every face she looks at is now a jumbled puzzle of disconnected features. Imagine trying to read a book upside down and in another language. This is Sadie’s new reality with every face she sees.
But, as she struggles to cope, hang on to her artistic dream, work through major family issues, and take care of her beloved dog, Peanut, she falls into—love? Lust? A temporary obsession to distract from the real problems in her life?—with not one man but two very different ones. The timing couldn’t be worse.
If only her life were a little more in focus, Sadie might be able to find her way. But perceiving anything clearly right now seems impossible. Even though there are things we can only find when we aren’t looking. And there are people who show up when we least expect them. And there are always, always other ways of seeing.

Stars in Your Eyes
Stars in Your Eyes by Kacen Callender is $2.99! Dahlia mentioned this one on her monthly queer romance round-up. It was also a highly anticipated release, given that Callender is an accomplished author in a variety of genres.
The National Book Award-winning author of Felix Ever After delivers a beautifully tender story of two grumpy/sunshine, fake-dating actors navigating their love story both on and offscreen—perfect for fans of Casey McQuiston and Alexis Hall.
Logan Gray is Hollywood’s bad boy—a talented but troubled actor who the public loves to hate. Mattie Cole is an up‑and‑coming golden boy, adored by all but plagued by insecurities.
When Logan and Mattie are cast as leads in a new romantic film, Logan claims that Matt has “zero talent,” sending the film’s publicity into a nosedive. To create positive buzz, the two are persuaded into a fake‑dating scheme—but as the two actors get to know their new characters, real feelings start to develop.
As public scrutiny intensifies and old wounds resurface, the two must fight for their relationship and their love.

Ship Wrecked
RECOMMENDED: Ship Wrecked by Olivia Dade is $1.99! Sarah and Shana wrote a Lightning Review for this one and gave it an A:
Recently I devoured a book, and when I mentioned it, Shana squeed right back at me. So, enjoy our absolute squee-party about this book!
After All the Feels and Spoiler Alert, Olivia Dade once again delivers a warm and wonderful romantic comedy about two co-stars who once had an incredible one-night stand—and after years of filming on the same remote island, are finally ready to yield to temptation again…
Maria’s one-night-stand—the thick-thighed, sexy Viking of a man she left without a word or a note—just reappeared. Apparently, Peter’s her surly Gods of the Gates co-star, and they’re about to spend the next six years filming on a desolate Irish island together. She still wants him…but he now wants nothing to do with her.
Peter knows this role could finally transform him from a forgettable character actor into a leading man. He also knows a failed relationship with Maria could poison the set, and he won’t sabotage his career for a woman who’s already walked away from him once. Given time, maybe they can be cooperative colleagues or friends—possibly even best friends—but not lovers again. No matter how much he aches for her.
For years, they don’t touch off-camera. But on their last night of filming, their mutual restraint finally shatters, and all their pent-up desire explodes into renewed passion. Too bad they still don’t have a future together, since Peter’s going back to Hollywood, while Maria’s returning to her native Sweden. She thinks she needs more than he can give her, but he’s determined to change her mind, and he’s spent the last six years waiting. Watching. Wanting.
His shipwrecked Swede doesn’t stand a chance.

Hello Stranger is my favorite book of this year., the one that had the most impact, offered the most insight, embraced and uplifted me. I am a person with face blindness that emerged mid career. Each person probably experiences it differently, but mine crept up on me, damaged relationships, and changed my life. Katherine Center’s book helped me reassemble puzzle pieces of unfortunate events and while it cannot offer time travel, it did help me resolve parts of the past. It also happens to be a splendid book. I loved the way the plot unfolded. I enjoyed the main character’s courage and resolute determination in the face of great odds. I ate up her unravelling of painful family dynamics to make possible a better future. The dialog, the pacing, sense of time and place, all superb. As is my current preference, I read and listened to Hello Stranger so I can recommend the audio book as well.
Beth Bolden’s entire Piranhas m/m football series is on sale.
I loved Hello Stranger also. I’d say it’s less romance, more women’s fiction in that the story was more focused on the main character finally figuring out how to move forward in her life rather than the romantic arc. Her development of face blindness was the catalyst to finally resolve some long standing issues both personally and professionally. The story had a few too many coincidences but was fast-paced and uplifting.
I enjoyed three of the above books; the one by Kacen Callender also sounds good!

Serena Bell’s MAKE ME WILDER, the first book in her Wilder Outdoor Adventures series, is currently free in the Kindle Store. Bell’s books are always well-written—with plenty of heart, heat, and humor—and her books rarely go on sale. If you haven’t already read it, I strongly recommend grabbing MAKE ME WILDER. You can’t beat the price!
@flchen1 – The Amazing Alpha Tau Boyfriend Project cured my reading slump, thank you so much!
@Escapeologist, I’m so glad! Their humor works really well for me, and I’m really enjoying the start to this series of theirs! (Loved the Bad Boyfriends too!) BTW, if you haven’t already gotten it, I believe there’s a free novella in the series: https://dl.bookfunnel.com/p7qv5ep4xt
A bunch of SJ Himes books are in kindle countdown deals – I love the The Beacon Hill Sorcerer Books and book 1 (The Necromancer’s Dance) is .99 right now, and several others are discounted.
