I love a good scary mystery, and The Sun Down Motel had all the elements to make it perfect. I loved the Gothic atmosphere, the theme of women coming together to get justice for other women, and the excellent momentum of the pacing. Other than possibly being too spooky for some, I can’t come up with a single reason why anyone should avoid this book.

The Bennet Women by Eden Appiah-Kubi is $2.49 at Amazon! I mentioned this one on a previous edition of Book Beat. For anyone who loves an Austen-inspired novel, this might be worth checking out

Torn
Torn by Rowenna Miller is $2.99! This is a fantasy novel with a seamstress main character. Carrie read this one and gave it a C+. The pacing was too slow for her, but it’s possible future books may pick up in momentum:
This book is the first in a new series. It has a lot of potential – good technical writing, multiple female characters, discussion of class and class mobility, clothes porn, and more. If other books pick up the pace, it could be great, but this first book was too slow to keep me invested.

I am an Austen fan and enjoyed the Bennet Women. Funny, too.
The Sun down Motel was one of those books I had to keep putting down. Not because it was bad, quite the opposite. I read it when I was home alone and it was so creepy, I was scaring myself.
I’ll never look at a roadside motel without thinking of this book.
The Change by Kirsten Miller is a KDD for $1.99. Bought it today and really enjoying it.
I got teased with this cover and I started reading it and now I have to go to work and IT’S NOT FAIR
