  • A Duke at the Door

A Duke at the Door by Susanna Allen

A Duke at the Door by Susanna Allen is $1.99! This is the third book in the Shapeshifters of the Beau Monde series. Book two received a Squee grade.

Fans of Bridgerton won’t want to miss this steamy paranormal historical romance from author Susanna Allen. The sparkling Regency era goes wild:

A shifter duke who’s been denying his lion form
The beguiling lady who sees the truth
    Decisions that could prove deadly
The irrefutable love that might save them both

After being captured and held captive in a traveling menagerie, Alwyn Ap Lewin, Duke of Llewellyn, refuses to shift into his lion form. The longer he denies his inner lion, the sicker he gets, but he’d rather die free than be captive ever again. The denizens of Lowell Close live in fear and suspicion of Alwyn—except for lady apothecary Tabitha Barrington. Tabitha alone can help the shapeshifting duke, and with her by his side, the Wild Lion of Wales discovers he has something to live for, and to fight for, after all.

  • The Runaway Bride

The Runaway Bride by Felicity York

The Runaway Bride by Felicity York is 99c! This one came out in March and is the first in a series. If you’re looking for a new author or series to try, this is a good price!

Only the boldest of ladies risks her heart and her reputation…

Inspired by the incredible true story of Lyme Park’s most scandalous love affair, perfect for Bridgerton fans

1827. At first sight, young heiress of Shrigley Hall, Ellen Turner, does not seem the type to elope with a stranger. Yet when Ellen vanishes from her boarding school in the arms of the rugged scoundrel Edward Wakefield, and the pair are sighted in a carriage racing from Gretna Green to the Port of Dover, everyone is forced to question her virtue. What possessed her to make such a wild transgression?

As the newlyweds appear in court, the rumours fly out of control. And the man judging the case is—mortifyingly for Ellen—her childhood sweetheart, the handsome and adventurous Thomas Legh of Lyme Park.

He says she planned the whole scandal.
She says she had no choice.
    Who will society believe?

  • Sunny Song Will Never Be Famous

Sunny Song Will Never Be Famous by Suzanne Park

Sunny Song Will Never Be Famous by Suzanne Park is $1.99! This is a contemporary YA novel where the main character goes to a social media detox program. I love this cover; I’m a sucker for a chicken.

    Sunny Song’s Big Summer Goals:
    1) Make Rafael Kim my boyfriend (finally!)
    2) Hit 100K followers (almost there…)
    3) Have the best last summer of high school ever

Not on Sunny’s list: accidentally filming a PG-13 cooking video that goes viral (#browniegate). Extremely not on her list: being shipped off to a digital detox farm camp in Iowa (IOWA??) for a whole month. She’s traded in her WiFi connection for a butter churn, and if she wants any shot at growing her social media platform this summer, she’ll need to find a way back online.

But between some unexpected friendships and an alarmingly cute farm boy, Sunny might be surprised by the connections she makes when she’s forced to disconnect.

  • The Watchmaker of Filigree Street

The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley

The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley is $3.99! This is historical fiction with a queer protagonist and some magical realism. Reviews on Goodreads say don’t expect to have all the book’s questions answered by the end of the book, though there’s a follow-up now.

1883. Thaniel Steepleton returns home to his tiny London apartment to find a gold pocket watch on his pillow. Six months later, the mysterious timepiece saves his life, drawing him away from a blast that destroys Scotland Yard. At last, he goes in search of its maker, Keita Mori, a kind, lonely immigrant from Japan. Although Mori seems harmless, a chain of unexplainable events soon suggests he must be hiding something. When Grace Carrow, an Oxford physicist, unwittingly interferes, Thaniel is torn between opposing loyalties.

The Watchmaker of Filigree Street is a sweeping, atmospheric narrative that takes the reader on an unexpected journey through Victorian London, Japan as its civil war crumbles long-standing traditions, and beyond. Blending historical events with dazzling flights of fancy, it opens doors to a strange and magical past.

    Remember liking all of these!

  2. taffygrrl says:

I really liked The Watchmaker of Filigree Street except for one element that really, really bothered me toward the end. But then something in the last two pages made me reconsider, and I’m still not 100% sure what I think of it! I did love the world-building. It reminded me of the Charismatics series by Jacquelyn Benson.

  3. Sandy says:

Is it just me or are the names and places in today’s blurbs a little stranger than the usual romance novel names? Thaniel. Shrigley Hall. Alwyn Ap Lewin, Duke of Llewellyn.

  4. Dorothy Zbornak says:

“Fans of Bridgerton” is really doing a lot of work these days. Lol

  7. Loramir says:

I really love the cover of THE RUNAWAY BRIDE! It was in my BookBub email the other day and I was immediately intrigued just from the pretty, vibrant cover. I bought it but haven’t read it yet, so can’t offer any opinions.

  8. Anne says:

Love all three of Susanna Allen’s Shapeshifter books. She writes in quite a formal style but the characters are to die for. Utterly swoonworthy.

  9. Sarah says:

Could not get past the fact that if Alwyn was a lion why was he white, if I may paraphrase Mean Girls. Where are there lions on Wales? I had enjoyed the two other books but this Susanna Allen book was a miss for me.

  10. Kim says:

I, too, have been guilty of denying my lion form.

  11. Emily B says:

I have tried several Suzanne Park books and just cannot get on board – the characters always seem really juvenile (even the ones that aren’t YA) and the dialogue is off-putting/stilted.
