  • Once Upon a Marquess

Once Upon a Marquess by Courtney Milan

RECOMMENDED: Once Upon a Marquess by Courtney Milan is 99c! This is book one in the Worth Saga and I think SBTB has reviewed nearly every Milan release. RHG and Carrie did a joint review of this one. It earned an A grade and there was a lot of squeeing.

The last man Judith Worth wants to see again is Charles Trent, the Marquess of Ashford—the man who spent summers at her family home, who kissed her one magical night…and then heartlessly ruined her father. But when a tricky business matter arises, he’s the only one she can ask for help. With any luck, he’ll engage a servant to take care of the matter, and she won’t even have to talk with him.

But Ashford has never forgotten Judith. He knows she will never forgive him for what he’s done, but when offered the chance to assist her, he arrives in person. His memory of Judith may have haunted him, but it pales in comparison to the reality of the vivacious, beautiful woman he rediscovers. Throughout his life, he has always done what is correct. But now, he finds himself doing something utterly wrong…falling in love with the one woman he can never have.

  • Mr. Perfect on Paper

Mr. Perfect on Paper by Jean Meltzer

Mr. Perfect on Paper by Jean Meltzer is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal. This one has a Jewish matchmaker and a single dad hero. Have you read this one?

From the author of The Matzah Ball comes a pitch-perfect romcom following a third-generation Jewish matchmaker who unwittingly finds her own search for love thrust into the spotlight…

The perfect Jewish husband should be:
    * A doctor or lawyer (preferably a doctor)
    * Baggage-free (no previous marriages, no children)
    * And of course—he must be Jewish

As the creator and CEO of the popular Jewish dating app J-Mate, matchmaker Dara Rabinowitz knows the formula for lasting love—at least, for everyone else. When it comes to her own love life, she’s been idling indefinitely. Until her beloved bubbe shares Dara’s checklist for “The Perfect Jewish Husband” on national television and charming news anchor Chris Steadfast proposes they turn Dara’s search into must-see TV.

As a non-Jewish single dad, Chris doesn’t check any of Dara’s boxes. But her hunt for Mr. Perfect is the ratings boost his show desperately needs. If only Chris could ignore his own pesky attraction to Dara—a task much easier said than done when Dara starts questioning if “perfect on paper” can compete with how hard she’s falling for Chris…

  • Rule Master

    Rule Master by Sienna Snow

Rule Master by Sienna Snow is $2.99! This is book two in the Rules of Engagement erotic romance series. You should be able to read this as a standalone, but the heroine here was a secondary character in the first book. Both the book description and Goodreads reviews hint at a traumatic backstory for the heroine, so do whatever research you need to keep safe.

His rules. Her pleasure. His way.

Italian heiress and international financier Milla Castra knows she can’t avoid him forever. Irredeemably hot and controlled Lex Duncan once shared her craving for things deliciously forbidden. He was her lover. Her Master. And the husband she’s kept secret from everyone.

But Lex will never relinquish what’s his—and Milla is definitely his. And he knows she can’t resist the exquisite pleasure that awaits in his arms. When the violence of her past threatens them both, Lex will risk everything to keep Milla safe . . . before she submits to the cruelest master imaginable, Fear.

  • Ten Tomatoes That Changed the World

Ten Tomatoes That Changed the World by William Alexander

Ten Tomatoes That Changed the World by William Alexander is $3.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and I mentioned this on a previous Get Rec’d. If you love food history, check this one out!

New York Times bestselling author William Alexander takes readers on the surprisingly twisty journey of the beloved tomato in this fascinating and erudite microhistory.

The tomato gets no respect. Never has. Lost in the dustbin of history for centuries, accused of being vile and poisonous, subjected to being picked hard-green and gassed, even used as a projectile, the poor tomato has become the avatar for our disaffection with industrial foods — while becoming the most popular vegetable in America (and, in fact, the world). Each summer, tomato festivals crop up across the country; the Heinz ketchup bottle, instantly recognizable, has earned a spot in the Smithsonian; and now the tomato is redefining the very nature of farming, moving from fields into climate-controlled mega-greenhouses the size of New England villages.

Supported by meticulous research and told in a lively, accessible voice, Ten Tomatoes That Changed the World seamlessly weaves travel, history, humor, and a little adventure (and misadventure) to follow the tomato’s trail through history. A fascinating story complete with heroes, con artists, conquistadors, and—no surprise—the Mafia, this book is a mouth-watering, informative, and entertaining guide to the food that has captured our hearts for generations.

Haven’t read the worth saga but I devoured the brothers sinister series. Milan is a fave!

  4. Todd says:

The Worth sage is well worth (he he) reading. There are, I believe, three full-length books and a shorter piece; I enjoy them very much and I’ve gone back and read through them again.

  5. Barbara says:

Do not read RULE MASTER if you have any kind of fertility issues, it will be very annoying to read at the very least. This may have colored my overall impression of the book, of course.
I thought the heroine and her family were implausible and the hero an absolute tool. The thing is, while reading I found it quite hot, all the things that bothered me crept up afterwards. And the fact that it still makes me mad three years later is its owm kind of compliment.
