Dirty Lying Faeries by Sabrina Blackburry

For better or for worse, the newest changeling has arrived . . .

When Thea Kanelos’s best friend drags her to an art gala (that’s definitely not her thing), she doesn’t expect a chance encounter with Devin Grayson to change her life forever. The handsome stranger isn’t just anyone—he’s a powerful fae, charged with bringing Thea into his world.

Believing that she’s always been human, Thea must accept that everything she’s known about herself up until now has been a lie. She’s not human at all. She is a fae—funny, because she doesn’t even believe in faeries.

But with strange creatures now visible on the street and fangs and colors flashing in the shadows, it can’t be denied: faeries are real. And with the Winter Solstice approaching, a magnificent ball will bring her fully into the fae world and draw her closer to Devin with whom she has a deepening and dangerous attraction.

As her new powers awaken, Thea learns she plays a more pivotal role to the fae than she ever imagined. And when the barrier between the human and the fae worlds begins to crack, it will be up to her to save not just herself, but everyone she loves from a terrible fate.

Deeply sensual and darkly magical, Dirty Lying Faeries is the first book in an exciting new series that takes readers inside a universe filled with faeries, dragons and werewolves–and those that love them.

Spellbound by Crystal J. Johnson and Felicity Vaughn

Gemma inherited more than she can handle thanks to the hot inhabitants of her hotel . . .

When Gemma Fox inherits the storied Reynard Hotel from her great-aunt, she’s totally unprepared for the responsibility. It’s not the bills or the renovations or the repairs piling up. Or her family’s complete lack of confidence in her ability to manage the hotel. It’s that she’s not alone.

Bound to the hotel are two spirits, Archer and Soren Hyde. Brooding, handsome, immortal—they’ve been haunting the Reynard for generations. And Gemma is now their custodian.

As Gemma fights to keep the hotel from going under, she also finds herself fighting a growing attraction to the brothers. Each offers her something different: Archer is impish, fun, sexy, and just the distraction she needs. Soren’s arrogant, passionate, sinfully attractive, and driving her crazy. In turn, they each want something from her—one wants freedom, the other wants her heart.

It turns out that Archer and Soren are holding back a secret that might finally see them no longer spellbound. And when the truth comes out about who—and what—they are, their imperfect triangle shatters. With her life and her happiness on the line, and pressure mounting on all sides, Gemma is forced to make a decision that could change everything—for eternity.

  1. Ellie says:

Wow, it is really trying hard to choose my favorite because I was super into paranormal back in the day. But Kresley Cole was one of the best and out of that I guess I would have to choose A Hunger Like No Other just because it set the stage so very well. (Ok, also the Scottish accent.)

  2. Melissa says:

I’m a sucker for all things fae in romance! ACOTAR remains my gold standard although there are so so many great options out there now!

  3. Kelly M. says:

    I absolutely loved Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones!

  4. kkw says:

Impossible to choose between KJ Charles’s Green Men and Magpie Worlds. But, if I must choose a single book: The Magpie Lord, on a technicality. I am American, there are more Magpie books, more is better.
But both Simon Feximal and The Magpie Lord feel like they were written for me, personally. It’s so startling, even alarming – how has this stranger known exactly what I most want, and why are they giving it to me – and then so intensely gratifying – zomg I have been given this perfect thing I hadn’t ever been able to articulate my need for and now I can have it whenever I want?!
So now I am going to go read Simon Feximal but only because that’s where I am in my highly structured KJ Charles re-reading program, not because I am truly capable of choosing a favorite here.

  5. Eliza Whiting says:

My favorite fantasy is Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Mist and Fury.

  6. Gloriamarie Amalfitano says:

One favorite? Only 1? I love the entire Children of the Gods series by I. T. LUCAS

  7. Melissandre says:

I also love the Immortals After Dark series, but for absolute favorite I might have to choose “Demon Moon,” the second in Meljean Brooks’ Guardians series.

  8. Christine says:

    The Discovery of Witches series!

  9. Regena says:

While it’s sure to be mentioned a lot, ACOTAR definitely, also the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning (at least the first 5), and while they’re a little lighter on the romance than I’d like, I always love Patricia Brigg’s Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega series!

  10. Jennifer Shuler says:

My favorite is Soulless by Gail Carriger. What a hoot!

  11. Mary Beth says:

I have a hard time picking favorites, but if forced I would say Patricia Briggs’ books–all of them! I also love Ilona Andrews, Sarah J. Maas, Kelly Armstrong, Jessie Mihalik, Meljean Brook, Anne Bishop . . . 🙂 The list goes on! I’m going to monitor the entries to see if I can find new-to-me authors and books.

  12. Tara says:

I’m always on the lookout for a new favorite, but right now my favorite the Discovery of Witches trilogy by Deborah Harkness.

  13. JoanneBB says:

Classic favourite: the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. Recent, I’m enjoying the Ilona Andrews Innkeeper series. I’d missed this series completely but the newest one is being serialized on their website and I went back and read the beginning of the series.

  14. Diane says:

Everything written by Patricia Briggs. If I must choose one book is would be River Marked.

I could also gone with A Discovery of Witches particularly the second book, Shadow of Night.

  15. DonnaMarie says:

I hate these questions. It’s like picking your favorite child.

That being said, you can’t go wrong with Melissandre’s pick, DEMON MOON. Or any of Brooks’ Guardian series. It’s pretty much paranormal romance perfection.

  16. Lori A says:

I have to go with Echo North by Joanna Ruth Meyer. I am such a sucker for Beauty & the Beast retellings!

  17. PamG says:

There are so many, but after a bit of thought and assuming I can’t just say every series by Ilona Andrews ever, I have to go with Pale Demon by Kim Harrison. It’s not technically a romance though it’s definitely part of the dominant romance arc in the Hollows urban fantasy series. For me it was the book that turned the romance corner as well as the first book I think of when someone mentions road trip as a trope (my fav). There’s this one scene that I reread at intervals for all the crunchy goodness. . . . It may just be time to binge read the Hollows. Thanks for asking.

  18. Kareni says:

I also find it difficult to choose. Today I’ll say Oracle’s Moon by Thea Harrison.

  19. Y says:

Ilona Andrews have so many great paranormal series that I love to read again and again!

  20. Qualisign says:

THE HOB’S BARGAIN, by Patricia Briggs. Basically an old-school fantasy but with the misogyny called out, sex minimal and off screen, and a mildly hopeful if not entirely happy ending. Included: death, magic, a hob, horses, competence pr0n, awful villagers, and personal integrity. Love it.

  21. Emmy says:

Paladin’s Strength by T S Kingfisher. I still laugh just thinking about some of the banter!

  22. Noel Stark says:

I’m going between the Bec McMasters London Steampunk Series and Ilona Andrews first three of the Legacy Series. But I also love me some Iron and Magic, and Lothaire.

  23. Trix says:

Clare London’s m/m SAY A LITTLE PRAYER is so sweet and hot, with two very lovable heroes (including the best sex-puppy angel ever)!

  24. Danielle says:

Current top slot goes to ACOTAR!

  25. Jennavier says:

I’ve read Ilona Andrews’ Hidden Legacy series a million times. It’s so good!

  26. Kathy Blush says:

The Black Widow series by Anne Bishop, Discovery of Witches and the Vanyel trilogy by Mercedes Lackey. I cannot pick just one!

  27. SaraGale says:

Ilona Andrew’s Innkeeper Series is now a go to comfort re-read.
Juliet Marillier’s Daughter of the Forest series was my gateway into other fantasy.
Molly Harper’s Jane Jameson/Half Moon Hollow and Werewolves series are some of my favorite contemporary paranormals.

  28. Karen Kiely says:

If I have to choose, I’ll go with M.A. Grant’s Darkest Court series.

  29. Abby Hartenbower says:

My favorite would have to be from the IAD series, No Rest for the Wicked!

  30. Kristin says:

This is so hard to choose. My new favorite is A Court of Mists and Fury. For best fantasy book with a romance arc, I’d pick Uprooted by Naomi Novik.

  31. Avalon says:

    Very hard question!
After debating between Karen Marie moning’s Fever series, Deborah harkness’s discovery of witches on the paranormal side, and on the fantasy side, Jeffe Kennedy’s work and Elizabeth Moon’s Paksenarrion series and Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel series, I’m going with Deborah Harkness’s Discovery of Witches series. I recently reread them and they’ve such depth!

  32. V says:

My favorite PNR is definitely Lothaire by Kresley Cole.

  33. Musical Trees says:

It’s really hard to choose just one. Many of my favorites have already been mentioned. One I haven’t seen on this list is T.A. White’s THE FIREBIRD CHRONICLES. Kia Forest is an amazing heroine – extremely competent, honorable, intelligent, self-sacrificing, and loyal. Fortunately, her sometimes ridiculous stubbornness saves her from annoying perfectionism. Did I mention that the world building is fabulous? I want to watch a real hover board race. I want a side-kick drone. I want to meet gigantic intelligent ocean beings who can travel between worlds. Book 4 should be out later this year and I can’t wait.

  34. Zana says:

cannot pick one so I’m putting them all down because I love going through everyone’s lists to pick new books!!

The Paladin series by T Kingfisher (humor)
Edge series by Ilona Andrews (action)
IAD by Kresley Cole (crazy action, definitely the older ones…the latest seem so convoluted)
Hidden Legacy by Ilona Andrews (hot action)
Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick novels (formulaic but comfort read)
Deadlands novellas (Evil twin) by Kati Wilde (sexy fun)
Elves/warriors fantasy would always be Lord of the Rings
Currently enjoying Ruby Dixon’s Aspect and Anchor series because it’s different from the usual tropes!

  35. Kris says:

The Charley davidson series by darynda Jones. Love those books!

  36. Stefanie says:

I really enjoy Nalini Signh’s Psy-changeling series, and I’ve been getting back into Bec McMaster.

  37. Janira Gonzalez says:

I really enjoyed a Court of Thorn and Roses by Sarah J Maas. As a tween, I loved the Vampire Diaries and the Forbidden Game series by L.J. Smith.

  38. Emily says:

How to choose! Recently I’ve loved shifter stories that explore toxic masculinity, like Charlie Adhara’s Big Bad Wolf series or Cate C Wells’ The Five Packs series. I also recently read Gail Carriger’s quirky San Andreas Shifters, Maria Vale’s unique Legend of All Wolves series, and TJ Kline’s emotional Green Creek series- I’m such a sucker for a werewolf story! I also deeply love Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels and Hidden Legacy series, as well as Nalini Singh Psy-Changeling- I’ve re-read them all over and over. I also LOVE Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series, and anything by Sara J Maas. And many more! I’m going to watch this thread for more books to devour!

  39. Maggie says:

So hard to choose! The Kraken King by Meljean Brook or Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs are frequent re-reads.

  40. Sarah says:

While the romance is very slow burn, my favourite is the Scholomance series by Naomi Novik.
