Incense and Sensibility
Incense and Sensibility by Sonali Dev is $1.99! Not sure if we’ve featured this one on sale before. It’s book three in Dev’s Rajes series, which is full of Jane Austen retellings.
The author of Recipe for Persuasion—“not only one of the best but one of the bravest romance novelists working today” (Shelf Awareness)—adds an Indian American twist to Jane Austen’s classic Sense and Sensibility in this delightful retelling that is a feast for the senses.
Yash Raje, California’s first serious Indian gubernatorial candidate, has always known exactly what he wants—and how to use his privileged background to get it. He attributes his success to a simple mantra: If you control your feelings you can control the world around you.
But when a bigot with a gun attempts to assassinate him, critically injuring his friend, Yash’s easy life suddenly feels like a lie, his control an illusion. When he tries to get back on the campaign trail, he blacks out with panic.
Desperate to keep Yash’s condition from leaking to the media, his family turns to the one person they trust—his sister’s best friend, India Dashwood, California’s foremost stress management coach. Raised by her grandmother and mother immersed in the practice of yoga long before it became trendy, India has helped San Francisco’s stressed-out overachievers for a decade without so much as altering her breath. But this man with his simmering intensity and absolute faith in his political beliefs is like no other client she’s ever had. Yash has spent a lifetime repressing everything to succeed.
India knows that for Yash to heal, he must face the feelings he’s buried, including the ones they once shared—a too brief, too bright passion that if rekindled threatens the life he’s crafted for himself. Sorting through the lies to get to the truth might be the only way to save him but it’s also guaranteed to destroy the dream he’s willingly shouldered for his family and community . . . until now.

Anchored Hearts
Anchored Hearts by Priscilla Oliveras is 99c! This is book two in the Keys to Love series and has a second chance romance. This isn’t my favorite trope, but I enjoyed this book. If you like really emotional contemporaries, this will tick that box.
Key West is the ideal backdrop for the summer read you need! Perfect for fans of Abby Jimenez, Jasmine Guillory, and Jen DeLuca, this gorgeous and stirring new love story from the author of Island Affair will touch your heart…
Award-winning photographer Alejandro Miranda hasn’t been home to Key West in years–not since he left to explore broader horizons with his papi’s warning echoing in his ears. He wouldn’t be heading there now if it wasn’t for an injury requiring months of recuperation. The drama of a prodigal son returning to his familia is bad enough, but coming home to the island paradise also means coming face to face with the girl he left behind–the one who was supposed to be by his side all along…
Anamaría Navarro was shattered when Alejandro took off without her. Traveling the world was their plan, not just his. But after her father’s heart attack, there was no way she could leave–not even for the man she loved. Now ensconced in the family trade as a firefighter and paramedic, with a side hustle as a personal trainer, Anamaría is dismayed that just the sight of Alejandro is enough to rekindle the flame she’s worked years to put out. And as motherly meddling pushes them together, the heat of their attraction only climbs higher. Can they learn to trust again, before the Key West sun sets on their chance at happiness?

Jade City
Jade City by Fonda Lee is $2.99! This adult fantasy novel incredibly violent, according to reviews. But readers loved the world building and threads of mythology weaved into the story. To be honest, the book sounds intense and awesome.
JADE CITY is a gripping Godfather-esque saga of intergenerational blood feuds, vicious politics, magic, and kungfu.
The Kaul family is one of two crime syndicates that control the island of Kekon. It’s the only place in the world that produces rare magical jade, which grants those with the right training and heritage superhuman abilities.
The Green Bone clans of honorable jade-wearing warriors once protected the island from foreign invasion–but nowadays, in a bustling post-war metropolis full of fast cars and foreign money, Green Bone families like the Kauls are primarily involved in commerce, construction, and the everyday upkeep of the districts under their protection.
When the simmering tension between the Kauls and their greatest rivals erupts into open violence in the streets, the outcome of this clan war will determine the fate of all Green Bones and the future of Kekon itself.

Priest
Priest by Sierra Simone is $1.49! I remember Romancelandia talking about this one a lot, though there are definitely dividing reviews. Some say this is top notch smut with a taboo relationship thrown in. Others say that honestly…a lot of the Catholicism details are just plain inaccurate, or they can’t get on board with a priest hero.
There are many rules a priest can’t break. A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot abandon his flock. A priest cannot forsake his God.
I’ve always been good at following rules.
Until she came. Then I learned new rules.
My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I’m twenty-nine years old. Six months ago, I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again.
I am a priest and this is my confession.

Hmm, had to snap up the Sonali Dev. 🙂
PRIEST is one of my all-time favorite romances, but I’ll freely admit it’s a polarizing book. If you’re not down with a priest who betrays his vow of celibacy, this won’t be the book for you. (I should also include CW/TW for reference to a suicide in the past.) Sarah McLean says that PRIEST is “as close to inspirational romance as erotic romance can get,” and I concur entirely.
Free in the US:
The Edge of Mercy by Heidi Chiavaroli
The Irresistible Billionaire Treault
Kiss Me that Way by Laura Trentham and another book in the series is free
The end of the Lane (A Dear Abby Cozy Mystery) and another book in the series is free by Sonia Parin
This is the last day of the 40-50% off sale of the Living on A Dime cookbook sale. I’ve given the cookbooks many times for weddings, showers, graduations, and December holidays. When I mentioned this sale yesterday I forgot to mention the last day of the sale is today at http://www.livingonadime.com
I love JADE CITY (book one of The Green Bone Saga trilogy)! Very violent, but the family saga is much more vivid. I even bought some jade jewelry because hey, you never know.
The priest romance just reminded me: did anybody else read Caryl Rivers’ two books VIRGINS and GIRLS FOREVER BRAVE AND TRUE? The first one’s about being a Catholic schoolgirl in Maryland in the 1950s who’s dating an earnest would-be priest; the second is the two of them meeting up decades later, when he IS a priest and she’s a journalist. I loved those books when I was in high school – my father’s family is all Irish Catholic, but after reading The Thornbirds at twelve, priest romances didn’t faze me in the slightest. (Especially as one of my own cousins was fathered by a visiting priest from Austria. Ahem.)
Top notch smut should be it’s own category lol.
@Tam – Yes! Loved these books back in the day and occasionally still think of them. I’ve been afraid to reread them because sometimes that spoils the wonderful memories, so they are in my consideration box (consider whether to Donate or Keep) because I’m not ready to get rid of them.
I also enjoyed INTIMATE ENEMIES, different characters on a college campus, by Rivers.
I LOVED Sonali Dev’s “Pride, Prejudice and Other Flavors” and “Recipe for Persuasion,” but I found “Incense and Sensibility” to be a real slog. It was just too hard to care about the problems of a perfectly centered and selfless FMC and a perfectly noble, ambitious and rich MMC.
The “b” story that mirrored Marianne’s arc was well realized though.
Hm, I think I started reading Priest but never finished it– vow breaking aside, the protagonist felt like a creep, iirc.
