I hope your weekend paired well with a cool beverage!
I bought THE STAND-IN based on Amanda’s comment that she had a positive review forthcoming and I was not disappointed–it was absolutely delightful. It deftly combined themes of identity, romance, friendship, family, and mental health and even when I thought the characters were being twits and I was yelling, “Noooooo, don’t do it!” I understood their reasoning. Definitely in the running to make my top 10 this year.
I just finished BOLD FORTUNE yesterday—and it’s a wonderful book! I had had it on my tbr for a while because M. M. Crane (aka, Megan Crane/Caitlin Crews) is one of my favorite writers, but the ebook price was close to $10 and that’s a little too rich for my blood. So I grabbed it at the sale price and immediately dove in. Grumpy-sunshine with enforced proximity during an Alaskan blizzard? Yes please! The book has all sorts of Crane/Crews trademarks including beautiful descriptions of the natural world, hot sexy-times, angsty heartache, and MCs who reveal hidden depths. It’s one of my favorite reads of 2022. Highly recommended.
I loved the Stand In!
