Links: Anthologies, Fabio, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Hey all! It’s Wednesday! Come on in!

I went to the Cape with my partner last weekend and just had the loveliest time. I met their aunt, ate some good food, and got some sun on these gams. The weather was perfect and we got to hang out with an old black lab named Jack.

I’ve also undertaken a recent project. I’m growing herbs! I planted the seeds into little pots yesterday and have them soaking up some sun on my windowsill. I’ve never really planted anything before and I’m already a helicopter parent.

Humble Bundle has a 6-game bundle benefiting The Trevor Project. The offer ends later today. I’ve played half of the games listed and would recommend what I’ve played. Really love Monster Prom!

Shoutout to Empress of Blandings for dropping this in the Books on Sale comments yesterday. I wanted to make sure no one missed it. Ask a Manager revealed there’s a Fabio flowchat!

Here’s a heartwarming Twitter thread of people helping animals in this god-awful and dangerous heat wave!

Releasing in September, there will be a romance anthology with over 150 participating authors with never before published stories. All proceeds of this anthology, Dissent, will go toward reproductive rights organizations.

If you missed the Buzz Books Romance Panel, it was recorded for your viewing pleasure!

Don’t forget to share what cool or interesting things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

I also loved the Fabio flow chart, thanks Empress of Blandings!
What I’m sharing is probably not strictly new for most people, but it has been making me really, really happy.
    William Shatner “singing” Rocket Man.

It has to be experienced to be believed and even then you might not be sure. For some context, I was trying to explain a Shatner joke to my ten-year-old and I just thought it would be easier to show him something. And I found this and not only did it make me laugh harder than I have in the last week, I think it might be one of the hardest times I’ve laughed in my life, definitely in the last year or so. Tears, aching, etc.

I think I’d always either seen parodies (Simpsons, Family Guy etc) or just little clips, but seeing the whole thing is something else. My first thought was, I have to share this on Wednesday links.

Amanda wonderful that you are growing some herbs, the one tip I would give you is do not, Not, NOT overwater them. More houseplants are killed by overwatering than anything else. Try to judge if they need water by the weight of the pot (pick them up now so you know what they feel like fully watered), rather than by the top soil looking dry. Good luck!

I quickly read that list of Ask a Manager work fails and it took me until like the 8th one to realize this was not a list of disasters by ONE PERSON. I was all, wow, she’s farting on people, drunk on a Midori smoothie at 9:30am, asking her boss to pick up her birth control, trashing a clothing store– she’s a hot mess!

    Comprehension fail.

  4. Empress of Blandings says:

Ah, glad you enjoyed the flowchart as much as I did!

There’s one about an obscene amigurumi on yesterday’s list which also made me laugh more than it should have done: https://www.askamanager.org/2022/07/mortification-week-the-declined-offer-the-amigurumi-and-more.html

Also, seconding Jazzlet’s tip about not overwatering. I had a lovely spotty begonia that was getting sadder and sadder and losing its leaves, so I kept watering it only to read that overwatering makes begonias look sad and drop their leaves. Ah, right. Glad to say it’s coming back to life now, and only getting watered once a week.

Amanda, enjoy those herbs, and in the winter try an
AeroGarden it’s hydroponic and has it’s own grow lights so you can have fresh herbs all year round. (even in NoDak.)
