Podcast Weirdness: An Update

Hey y’all! A few of you have messaged me or emailed about how Apple Podcasts was being weird with downloading latest episodes of Smart Podcast Trashy Books.

The last two episodes weren’t downloading, even though the feed was not any different. Big Fun!

Apple, being the incredibly helpful resource for end users with lots and lots of detailed documentation and step by step instructions…

Show Spoiler

Capt Von Trapp looks over his shoulder then starts to laugh then controls his expression

…was surprisingly of little help.

Anyway, here’s what seems to be the easiest solution: unsubscribe and resubscribe to the show, please?

Seriously, I’m so sorry the effort is on your end, but that should solve the download issue. I think it’s like the podcast equivalent of “when in doubt, reboot.”

Thank you and my apologies for the problem!

I am still working on why Google Podcasts thinks the files are insecure and tries to redirect you to a browser. Seriously. WTF, podcast apps. Stop being annoying for five whole minutes.

@SB Sarah- Thanks… and nice use of the Captain Von Trapp gif! *hearts and smileys and all good feelings*

  2. @SB Sarah says:

Any and all smiling Capt. Von Trapp is a great addition to the day, right? 😀

@SB Sarah – I think it has something to do with the fact that both Apple and Google are having to change the way purchases occur within Apps from the Apple and Google stores. Maybe?

I do know that you can no longer purchase ebooks through the Android Kindle App, you have to go the Amazon website to purchase the book and then download it into the app.

  4. @SB Sarah says:

@Lisa B: Oooh, that is a really good theory. Thank you!

  5. LisaM says:

I haven’t been able to download it through Google podcasts this morning, despite multiple attempts. I unsubscribed and resubscribed, I also tried it over wireless in case my home internet was a problem.

  6. @SB Sarah says:

Google and I are having quite a struggle. I’m so sorry! I’m working on it.

  7. LisaM says:

I just got what felt like a very condescending message from Google, saying I could listen in the browser if I chose. I’m sorry this is adding complications I’m sure you don’t need. I just wanted to give you an update in case it’s helpful.

  8. Kristina says:

I appreciate the update! I thought it was just me and I was so confused!
