Welcome back, everybody!
I’m sure the mood this afternoon is more somber than last week’s and that’s understandable with Friday’s Supreme Court decision. I know Sarah is compiling a list of resources and actionable activities that should be going up soon (if not already). My focus is to give some lightness and distraction here if you need it.
I cried, had some cocktails and comforting food, and then took an edible with my partner for a cozy movie night. I’ve also been playing a lot of video games and finding catharsis in just talking and venting to friends.
If you’d like to share your own comforting plans, feel free!

Thanks to Miriam for sharing this with Sarah! It’s a look at historical romance covers and how they do or don’t reflect the fashions of their setting. Lots of costume design nerdery here!

Illumicrate is raffling off a stunning Bridgerton special collection to raise funds for National Network of Abortion Funds. There are also a couple other romance editions up for raffle. You can find them all here.

Kate Bush is having a resurgence following the latest season of Stranger Things and their usage of “Running Up That Hill.” Bush has been rather reclusive in her later years, but is thrilled to be discovered by a new audience.
PSA, Lady Genius.
The famously private singer #KateBush has given a rare interview in the wake of the resurgence of her 1985 song Running Up That Hill, and she couldn’t be happier to connect with a new generation of fans.https://t.co/Gb1YA53gHA

And, if you want to just bask in some vocal talent, check out this performance by Netta (Eurovision 2018’s winner!) and the Great Gehenna Choir.

Don’t forget to share what cool or interesting things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

I’ve loved Netta since she appeared in the “sing-off” in Will Farrell’s Eurovision movie. She totally rocks her look: no body-shaming permitted!
This thread on Twitter made me cry in a good way:https://twitter.com/infamousfiddler/status/1541594948792979458?s=21&t=xQscOeiMOQyeyRGOGDW3wQ
Glad to see Bernadette Banner’s video up here! I really enjoyed it when it came out; she’s great at mixing education, entertainment, and lovely aesthetics. She’s also not taking a snobby tone here with the romance covers, but for me I’d absolutely be more interested in reading historical romance if the covers and books attempted fashion accuracy.
Also, if you’re interested in sewing and/or truly sustainable fashion do take a look at her new book: “Make, Sew and Mend: Traditional Techniques to Sustainably Maintain and Refashion Your Clothes.” If you enjoy it, leave a positive review and/or take a moment on Amazon to report the handful of transphobic negative reviews that have been left there by some jerks who got mad she included essays from a variety of sewers including one woman who’s struggled to find clothes that fit well since transitioning.
@AtasB, I went to Amazon and searched the one and two star reviews, and reported the transgender agenda comments. Ridiculous. Thanks for the heads up.
