Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Reporters Meet While Covering Royal Wedding

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO is from Elizabeth, who is looking for this contemporary romance:

The first romance I ever read featured a reporter hero (I’m 99% sure his name was Theo) and a reporter heroine who met while covering the royal wedding of Charles and Diana. I remember the heroine had fiery red hair and violet eyes. I think the hero was Greek and Theo was the shortened version of his name.

This book was set in the 1980s, so I assume it was written around that time. In my mind, I seem to remember the cover having a red background and/or spine.

The book was pretty steamy in my opinion (although I was too young to be reading it, so there’s that). I don’t remember much of the plot, but the book starting during the royal wedding sticks in my mind.

Shall we HaBO?

I’m not sure it’s the one since a number of of Elizabeth’s details don’t match, but Mary Christopher’s Royal Wedding ticks a number of the boxes.

I was absolutely obsessed by this book in junior high in the early 80’s and still have a copy on my keeper shelf, despite it being waaaaaaaay out of date in so many ways.

I don’t know the book, but the Silhouette Desire line had red spines and partially red covers back in the 80’s, if that’s any help. Good luck.

I think I want this updated and taking place during Harry and Meghan’s wedding.

Hello? Elizabeth are your there? Can you let WendyW know if this is your book because it really sounds like it might be it. We are now vested in the outcome and really want to know!

Copying in @WendyW’s suggestion here – it sure sounds like the HaBo.

Come Back, My Love by Pamela Wallace

Love with the proper stranger. TV newsperson Toni Lawrence was on the fast track to fame when photographer Theo Chakiris swept her off her feet at the royal wedding, in a London alight with love. How had she abandoned herself to the adventurer she barely knew? Storybook romances belonged to princes and princesses so she tried to forget, tried to bury herself in her work. But passion brought them from the ends of the earth to be together again – to recapture the ecstasy they couldn’t forget.

Also, I know I’ve said this before, but I’m always amazed when someone remembers so much detail about their first romance novel. All I remember from the first romance I read (age 14, on the over-night bus to church camp) was that THEY HAD SEX!!!

  8. Elizabeth says:

WendyW, That’s it! Oh my gosh! I can’t believe you found it. Thank you so much! Im hunting down a copy right now!

  9. Elizabeth says:

I’m sorry I’m just now responding. We were on vacation, and I just realized my post had made it on the HABO page. Thank you all so much! You are all awesome!

I’ve been googling Pamela Wallace now and found out that she later won an Oscar for her writing on the movie Witness. How cool is that!!
