  • Rebel

    Rebel by Beverly Jenkins

RECOMMENDED: Rebel by Beverly Jenkins is $1.99! Claudia wrote a guest review for this one before coming onboard. She gave it a B+:

One of the greatest joys of reading this book was seeing Val reconnecting with her inner hellion, and starting to believe she too could experience a great love.

The first novel in USA Today Bestselling Author Beverly Jenkins’ compelling new series follows a Northern woman south in the chaotic aftermath of the Civil War…

Valinda Lacey’s mission in the steamy heart of New Orleans is to help the newly emancipated community survive and flourish. But soon she discovers that here, freedom can also mean danger. When thugs destroy the school she has set up and then target her, Valinda runs for her life—and straight into the arms of Captain Drake LeVeq.

As an architect from an old New Orleans family, Drake has a deeply personal interest in rebuilding the city. Raised by strong women, he recognizes Valinda’s determination. And he can’t stop admiring—or wanting—her. But when Valinda’s father demands she return home to marry a man she doesn’t love, her daring rebellion draws Drake into an irresistible intrigue.

  • The Queer Principles of Kit Webb

The Queer Principles of Kit Webb by Cat Sebastian

RECOMMENDED: The Queer Principles of Kat Webb by Cat Sebastian is $1.99! Lara wrote a Lightning Review for this on and gave it an A:

At a time when I didn’t have a lot of energy, I was gifted with pounds of joy, laughter, intrigue, and suspense. The Queer Principles of Kit Webb was a fresh approach to historical romance that made me fall in love with the genre again.

Critically acclaimed author Cat Sebastian makes her trade paperback debut in a stunning historical romance about a reluctantly reformed highwayman and the aristocrat who threatens to steal his heart.

Kit Webb has left his stand-and-deliver days behind him. But dreary days at his coffee shop have begun to make him pine for the heady rush of thievery. When a handsome yet arrogant aristocrat storms into his shop, Kit quickly realizes he may be unable to deny whatever this highborn man desires.

In order to save himself and a beloved friend, Percy, Lord Holland must go against every gentlemanly behavior he holds dear to gain what he needs most: a book that once belonged to his mother, a book his father never lets out of his sight and could be Percy’s savior. More comfortable in silk-filled ballrooms than coffee shops frequented by criminals, his attempts to hire the roughly hewn highwayman, formerly known as Gladhand Jack, proves equal parts frustrating and electrifying.

Kit refuses to participate in the robbery but agrees to teach Percy how to do the deed. Percy knows he has little choice but to submit and as the lessons in thievery begin, he discovers thievery isn’t the only crime he’s desperate to commit with Kit.

But when their careful plan goes dangerously wrong and shocking revelations threaten to tear them apart, can these stolen hearts withstand the impediments in their path?

  • Cold-Hearted Rake

    Cold-Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas

RECOMMENDED: Cold-Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and as I mentioned before, all of today’s deals are historical romance. Check them out! Elyse reviewed this one and gave it an A:

Cold-Hearted Rake has the elements that make me love Kleypas so much as a writer: female friendships, a hero who is a rake but somehow also emotionally aware, a setting that’s fully developed and not a backdrop, and scalding sexual tension.

    A twist of fate…

Devon Ravenel, London’s most wickedly charming rake, has just inherited an earldom. But his powerful new rank in society comes with unwanted responsibilities . . . and more than a few surprises. His estate is saddled with debt, and the late earl’s three innocent sisters are still occupying the house . . . along with Kathleen, Lady Trenear, a beautiful young widow whose sharp wit and determination are a match for Devon’s own.

    A clash of wills…

Kathleen knows better than to trust a ruthless scoundrel like Devon. But the fiery attraction between them is impossible to deny—and from the first moment Devon holds her in his arms, he vows to do whatever it takes to possess her. As Kathleen finds herself yielding to his skillfully erotic seduction, only one question remains:

Can she keep from surrendering her heart to the most dangerous man she’s ever known?

  • Ten Things I Hate About the Duke

Ten Things I Hate About the Duke by Loretta Chase

RECOMMENDED: Ten Things I Hate About the Duke by Loretta Chase is $1.99! Catherine loved this one and wrote a Squee review for it:

Ten Things I Hate About The Duke was a joy to read. The humour and banter was delightful, but this was also a book with a lot of heart.

USA Today bestselling author Loretta Chase continues her Difficult Dukes series with this delightful spin on Shakespeare’s classic, The Taming of the Shrew.

    This time, who’s taming whom…

Cassandra Pomfret holds strong opinions she isn’t shy about voicing. But her extremely plain speaking has caused an uproar, and her exasperated father, hoping a husband will rein her in, has ruled that her beloved sister can’t marry until Cassandra does.

Now, thanks to a certain wild-living nobleman, the last shreds of Cassandra’s reputation are about to disintegrate, taking her sister’s future and her family’s good name along with them.

The Duke of Ashmont’s looks make women swoon. His character flaws are beyond counting. He’s lost a perfectly good bride through his own carelessness. He nearly killed one of his two best friends. Still, troublemaker that he is, he knows that damaging a lady’s good name isn’t sporting.

The only way to right the wrong is to marry her…and hope she doesn’t smother him in his sleep on their wedding night.

  1. Lena Brassard/Ren Benton says:

I hit the buy button so hard this morning when I saw the Chase within my budget. I’ve had it on my wish list since Catherine Heloise’s excellent review. She’s missed.

  2. spinsterrevival says:

What’s the right term to use for loving the fact that you already own so many of these books but are also bummed that they’re now on sale because you paid much more for them?

I’m way more frugal now than I used to be, so I will patiently wait and wait for sales; this is a great batch though. So many amazing Kleypas books as well as Tessa Dares too that I adore. I hope everyone takes advantage because those two rarely ever go on sale.

  3. Sara says:

The Queer Principles of Kit Webb is so good, so delicious, so warm and witty. Buy it now if you haven’t already, then clear your schedule to read it. I promise, you’ll be happy you did.

  4. LJO says:

EXACTLY right @spinsterrevival – Friends don’t let friends sleep on such amazing deals. Not a bad book in the bunch.

PS – Marrying Winterborne is absolutely glorious. If you haven’t read it, GO! GO! GO!

  5. FashionablyEvil says:

That is a great set of historicals from Amazon! I grabbed one of Julie Anne Long’s Palace of Rogues novels and a Julia Quinn collection that has Violet’s story (from Bridgerton.)

  6. LML says:

Since today is about historical romance, let me share that on the Amazon site there is a video of Julia Quinn and Eloisa James having a conversation about books and writing. Julia Quinn has a graphic novel out and Eloisa James is writing a serialized story for Amazon. They spoke about those, but also writing, past projects, and of course, Shonda Rhimes’ Bridgerton.

  7. DonnaMarie says:

@spinsterrevival, I’m not sure there’s a term for it, but if there is, I’m sure it’s German.

  8. Jen says:

Speaking of frugality, I am dying to preorder the next book after The Queer Principles of Kit Webb but it is $10.99 So I will sadly wait.

  9. Sydneysider says:

The Jenkins book is great and a nice addition to the series about the DeVeq family. Definitely worth it on sale (and for the non-sale price I paid, sigh). Like @spinsterrevival these sales give me both happy and sad feelings!

  10. Tam says:

One day, I’m going to read a Jenkins historical without heading off down half a dozen rabbit-holes researching some part of Black history I never even heard about before.
