To Catch an Earl is a fun, fast-paced read with lots of sexual tension and capers a-plenty. It’s been one of my favorite books so far this year and I highly recommend it.
A case of secret identities finds reunited lovers on opposite sides of the law in this fun, flirty Regency romance.

Elatsoe
RECOMMENDED: Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger is still $2.99! I’m surprised I haven’t featured this one on Get Rec’d yet, since I do recommend this one a lot. It’s a spooky YA mystery with an asexual Indigenous teen as the main character. Really good.

Recluse
Recluse by Helen Hardt is 99c! This is book two in the Wolfes of Manhattan series. I assume this could be fine as a standalone, though it does seem like there might be some setup in the previous book with a different couple.

I love Laura Kinsale but I’ve found I have to abandon some of my sanity at the door when I read her books.
STRANGE PRACTICE by Vivian Shaw is on sale for $1.99 today at Amazon US. Dr. Greta Helsing treats undead patients in her contemporary London office. Great characters, really interesting ailments (who knew?), but the part I enjoy most is her genuine care for the creatures she helps. Sounds silly, I suppose, but I’ll take empathy where I can find it these days.
I second @Darlynne re: STRANGE PRACTICE. Great listen! And the Laura Kinsale Trilogy. I loved all three of those books. And yes, as @EJ notes, there’s more than a little crazy sauce in them (UNCERTAIN MAGIC actually has a fantasy element), but that only made them more fun for me. Definitely recommend!
I’ve tried Bateman a few times and I feel like each book of hers I’ve tried has serious insta-love issues. In “To Catch An Earl” the hero can’t stop thinking about the heroine after meeting her the once because she “challenged him mentally” or some such – but they literally had one dance?! So, fair warning to others who dislike insta-love.
Trigger warning for Midsummer Moon, I found some issues with consent since the heroine’s inner voice points to her being very childlike and naive. Now, I generally like heroines who are quirky and act a bit childish (because that description fits me) but I found she went beyond that and was taken advantage of by someone who couldn’t control himself or whatever. I suggest reading some reviews to make sure you won’t be bothered before picking it up.
Like @Sunflower I had trouble with Midsummer Moon (I’m having increasing issues with super young–18-21 y/o–h and consent but I’m pretty sure that’s just me being fussy and old. THAT being said: My Sweet Folly is one of my favorites.
I remember really enjoying the first part of My Sweet Folly, but then it took a surprising turn.
