Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Welcome back, y’all! It’s April! Both a great and terrible time for me!

April means my birthday, but it also could mean the start of seasonal allergies. Allergies are really a wild card, considering last year we still had a snowfall in mid-April. I also have yet to find any over the counter medicines that consistently work well for me.

Today, I’ll be seeing the 25th anniversary showing of Princess Mononoke and I’m pretty excited! Do any of you have plans you’re looking forward to this week?

Author Lucy Eden is developing a romance subscription box. You can check out the Kickstarter here. It has a month to go and (as of writing this at 10pm Tuesday evening) has nearly reached its goal. Awesome!

Did you see I was on Lovestruck Daily with Alisha and Sarah? Alisha helped me with my Hinge profile and I talked about a promising first date I recently had.

We featured a previous romance anthology benefiting humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. Now there’s another, focusing on historical romance specifically. Authors include Mimi Mathews, Piper Huguley, and Jana MacGregor. It looks like there are over 70 stories and is a mix of previously published stories and new ones. The anthology drops June 7th.

I’m a sucker for Twitter threads like these: Grammys fashions as book covers.

One of my new favorite things on TikTok is “Will It Swaddle?” where a labor and delivery nurses tests whether things can be swaddled. Here she is trying to swaddle a chicken.

Don’t forget to share what cool or interesting things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

I came across a Tumblr site from a woman who works in the veterinary clinic connected to a shelter. She had to swaddle a 10-day-old kitten so she could feed him (otherwise, there’s be more formula on his outside than in his stomach. He did NOT like it; if you have the sound on, he is very loud.

One of the fun things I sometimes get to do when I am nursery hospitalist is teach daddies to swaddle. I do not use the nurses’ swaddle as I am not that smart but mine works fine, too. I will say, though, that not all babies swaddle well. And some daddies need lots of practice.

@Amanda: I have really bad allergies & I can’t take antihistamines because they make my tongue & throat swell, so I wear nose filters from mid-March through till the first frost. I been using Woody Nose for several years & they’ve worked very well for me. You can get them on amazon.

As a former L&D nurse, the swaddle TikTok cracked me up. Parents were always amazed when their fussy and sometimes screaming babies would calm down as soon as we properly swaddled them. We tried to show them that you have to do it tightly to mimic the womb, but invariably their swaddle would be too loose and the baby would get free and start flailing.
