This HaBO is from Frances, who is looking for this paranormal romance:
I’ve been wondering if this is even worth it, but I can’t stop thinking about this series, so it’s worth a shot.
I’m looking for a series that I started reading and didn’t finish. I can’t remember if I stopped because the next book wasn’t yet written or if it was because I had to pay for the next book and needed to wait a little before purchasing.
So here’s what I remember. I definitely read it on my Kindle in the last year or two, but I am not sure that it was necessarily new.
The first book in the series saw the main character returning to England and to the man she loved. His name started with a J. Julius? Julian? Another character called him Jules. I can’t remember her name, but he calls her Yank. They both have some paranormal powers which they need to hide from society, and while she’s been gone he’s been collecting all the other folks with paranormal powers and bringing them to his estate. There’s tension between them because her grandfather was the one who started providing help to similarly gifted people and he chose to leave Jules in charge of his legacy and not her.
He has a brother who is not really a brother who is ridiculously good-looking and is the protagonist in the second book, I think. He has dreams of what’s going to happen in the future. He falls in love with a woman from his dreams when he meets her in real life. There’s a duke who sets fires with his thoughts, I think. There’s also a guy – a valet? a bodyguard? – who doesn’t have powers but is supposed to be the protagonist in one of the other books (I think his name is Hal?). So is the fire-starting duke.
I think that’s everything I remember. I really want to finish the series, but I can’t remember the title or the author. Help!
Well I am very interested in this one.

Parts sound like the Order of the MUSE by Mia Marlowe but not sure
There’s a duke who sets fires with his thoughts
I am 99% done with duke books, but I am here for the Duke of Firestarting.
(sorry I can’t help with the HaBO)
Not a bad call, Moriah! Elyse reviewed the first book in the series and does mention a fire duke.
Oooh, The Curse of Lord Stanstead has been on my TBR so long I’d forgotten why it was there. I’ll have to bump it up. I’ll read just about any romance sub-genre if it’s got paranormal elements.
The premise kind of annoys me (uncontrollable supernatural powers bc sex) but it’s $.99 so I bought it. What can you do?
I don’t know what this is but I’m making grabby hands.
Sounds like an Amanda Quick/JAK arcane society type book, but I’m not seeing a perfect fit.
Well, I guess I’m adding The Curse of Lord Stanstead to my TBR list, but that’s not the story I was thinking of.
Oooh! I know this one! I don’t remember the title, but it’s from the League of Lords series by Tracy Sumner.
This is Tracy Sumner’s League of Lords series!
Oh my gosh, @Kate, that’s it! Thank you so much!!
I second League of Lords!
If @Frances can’t stop thinking about this series, there must be something compelling about it. Any other reviews?
Complete League of Lords series is on KU…I will be checking it out!
It does sound like Tracy Sumner’s League of Lords series – at least the description of the first book. It looks like the 4 books are available in Kindle Unlimited. Turns out I own them but have yet to read them.
I did read the first 2 in Mis Marlowe’s Order of the MUSE series when they first came out and remember liking them FWIW.
