  • If the Boot Fits

If the Boot Fits by Rebekah Weatherspoon

If the Boot Fits by Rebekah Weatherspoon is 99c! This is book two in the Cowboys of California series and was featured in Hide Your Wallet back in October. Have you read this one yet?

From award-winning author Rebekah Weatherspoon comes a thoroughly modern take on the timeless tale of a struggling Cinderella who finds her prince charming at the eleventh hour—and the adventure that ensues the morning after . . .

Working as the personal assistant to one of Hollywood’s cruelest divas has left Amanda Queen more determined than ever to sell her screenplay and gain her independence. In the meantime, she’ll settle for a temporary escape. When her employer is felled by the flu on Hollywood’s biggest night of the year, Amanda gets her glam on, struts out the door, and parties with the glitterati. But she never expects to come face to face—and closer than close—with one of the hottest stars in the game . . .

Following up his first Oscar win with a steamy after-hours romp with an enigmatic woman seems like the perfect way for actor Sam Pleasant to celebrate—until she suddenly disappears. Worse, she’s vanished with the wrong swag bag: the one containing his Oscar statue, leaving Sam even more intrigued about the beauty’s identity—and wondering if a repeat performance of their amazing night is in the stars. And when a second chance encounter happens, only a trip to Sam’s family ranch—and revealing the whole, not-always-glamorous, truth about themselves—will give them a chance to turn one magical night into forever . . .

  • Welcome to Temptation

Welcome to Temptation by Jennifer Crusie

Welcome to Temptation by Jennifer Crusie is $2.99! Crusie is an auto-buy author for a lot of us and I can see how her books would be great comfort reads right now. I saw that Jennifer Crusie offered up a book proposal critique for the Romancing the Vote auction.

Sophie Dempsey wants to help her sister film a video and then get out of Temptation, Ohio. Mayor Phin Tucker wants to play pool with the police chief and keep things peaceful. But when Sophie and Phin meet, they both get more than they want. Gossip, blackmail, adultery, murder, vehicular abuse of a corpse, and slightly perverse but excellent sex: all hell breaks loose in Temptation as Sophie and Phin fall deeper and deeper in trouble… and in love.

  • To Love and to Loathe

To Love and to Loathe by Martha Waters

To Love and to Loathe by Martha Waters is $1.99! This is book two in The Regency Vows series. Claudia and Shana did a joint review of this one. They gave it a D. What are your thoughts on this one? Did you love it?

The author of the “hilarious…joyful, elegant” (Publishers Weekly, starred review) To Have and to Hoax returns with an effervescent, charming, and swoon-worthy novel about a man and woman who never agree on anything—until they agree to a no-strings-attached affair in this Regency-era romp.

The widowed Diana, Lady Templeton and Jeremy, Marquess of Willingham are infamous among English high society as much for their sharp-tongued bickering as their flirtation. One evening, an argument at a ball turns into a serious wager: Jeremy will marry within the year or Diana will forfeit one hundred pounds. So shortly after, just before a fortnight-long house party at Elderwild, Jeremy’s country estate, Diana is shocked when Jeremy appears at her home with a very different kind of proposition.

After his latest mistress unfavorably criticized his skills in the bedroom, Jeremy is looking for reassurance, so he has gone to the only woman he trusts to be totally truthful. He suggests that they embark on a brief affair while at the house party—Jeremy can receive an honest critique of his bedroom skills and widowed Diana can use the gossip to signal to other gentlemen that she is interested in taking a lover.

Diana thinks taking him up on his counter-proposal can only help her win her wager. With her in the bedroom and Jeremy’s marriage-minded grandmother, the formidable Dowager Marchioness of Willingham, helping to find suitable matches among the eligible ladies at Elderwild, Diana is confident her victory is assured. But while they’re focused on winning wagers, they stand to lose their own hearts.

With Martha Waters’s signature “cheeky charm and wonderfully wry wit” (Booklist, starred review), To Love and to Loathe is another clever and delightful historical rom-com that is perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Evie Dunmore.

  1. Allison says:

If you’re up for a book about race (with jokes!) (and not a romance), You’ll Never Believe What Happened To Lacey is on sale today. Amber’s a writer on Seth Meyers (and her own Peacock show). I really liked it

  2. Maria says:

Re: Crusie’s Welcome to Temptation. You’ll never look at a water tower in the same way again. And that’s just the opener. This was a fave of mine, though I loved the sequel, Faking It, even more. Hilarious, charming romance with a great mystery.

  3. Lisa F says:

The Cruise and Weatherspoon are must-owns TBH.

  4. FashionablyEvil says:

I love WELCOME TO TEMPTATION—it’s one of the rare books where I remember all these random details (e.g., one of the minor characters was in a couple of porn films called Coming Clean and Coming Cleaner, everyone eats Dove bars, Phin throws a lamp while he and Sophie are having sex, the whole process of conning a mark.) Crusie is the author who made me realize there are all these smart sexy books that are SO much better than the Catherine Coulter dreck in read in high school.

  5. Tam says:

I don’t know why I like Welcome to Temptation so much, but I do. In many ways, the book is an uneven read (the crime elements are decidedly bananas) but it also makes me laugh out loud more than any other romance book I’ve ever read. It’s also probably the only contemporary romance I’ve read more than three times. I love this book entirely unreasonably.

  6. mtc says:

oh, i just read that this book just came out mmm. fantasy romance , new to me , anyway it is

    Mihalik, Jessie— Hunt the Stars

“SF romance novel, the first in the Starlight’s Shadow series. A crew of bounty hunters is asked to find a stolen ring, but the client belongs to a humanlike alien race until recently at war with humanity”

  7. mtc says:

another posting about a book that is scifi and known author to readers here i think ? am i right to mention this mmm

Lee, Sharon, Miller, Steve– A Liaden Universe Constellation, Volume 5
“Collection of seven recent stories set in the Liaden Universe–space opera and romance in a galaxy full of interstellar trading clans–brought together for the first time”

another one that interest me mmmm , not sure what to make of it, it so new
Sebastian, Laura Castles in Their Bones
“Young-adult fantasy novel, the first in a trilogy about triplet princesses, each trained from birth to bring down monarchies, as they now go to wed their target princes”

    Showalter, Gena The Immortal
“Paranormal romance novel, the second in the Rise of the Warlords series, a spin-off of the Lords of the Underworld series. Halo the assassin and Ophelia the harpy warrior are trapped in a horrific time loop together”

this next one is fantasy and involves 3 women in their 50s or later years and i thought that was unique, they umm “an exotic world of animalfolk”. this book is new too , i hope that posting this is ok , im not a bookseller of any kind nope. have great reading weekend everyone.

  8. Jennifer says:

I think Welcome to Temptation is one of the best romances of all time. Period.

  9. Penny says:

I recently picked up the audiobooks of Welcome to Temptation and Faking it & would recommend. Good work by the narrator!

  10. Susan/DC says:

Welcome to Temptation has one of the best descriptions of the hero without actually telling you his height or eye color, just that Phin “looked like every glossy frat boy in every nerd movie ever made, like every popular town boy who’d ever looked right through her in high school, like every rotten rich kid who’d ever belonged where she hadn’t.” That tells you so much more about him and about Sophie than mere physical description ever could.

  11. Msb says:

Throne of Glass bundle is 7 books, which you may be reading for the rest of your life. They do go very violently on, and on, and on, and on ….
