Links: Encanto, Mortal Kombat, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Welcome back to Wednesday Links! This is an early edition this week. The site has been having some scheduling issues. If you’ve noticed posts aren’t going live at their usual times, that’s why!

It’s a little chilly here in New England. I hope anyone in the path of the winter storm is staying safe and warm. Linus has been doing a lot of yowling about it, proceeded by hours snoozing in the dead center of my bed.

Let’s get into the links! A couple of Encanto things today because I watched the movie last week. I definitely think a majority of the family owes Mirabel and Bruno huge apologies.

If you also watched Encanto, here’s some behind the scenes info on how the most popular song from the soundtrack “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” got made.

However, my favorite song in the movie is “Surface Pressure” sung by the oldest sister Luisa. Metro UK has a great article on the often emotional family burdens put on eldest siblings. As an eldest sibling, I CAN RELATE SO HARD!

I  love looking at bonkers real estate listings!

For fans of the Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir, this was shared in my grad school friends group chat. Now you can get your own house pin. How can you choose just one?!

I’ve been playing video games for decades at this point and I was surprised to learn that Mortal Kombat also has something besides gruesome fatalities. They have “friendships” and they’re so delightful. My personal favorites are Sheeva, Kung Lao, and Fujin.

Don’t forget to share what cool or interesting things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

The Mortal Kombat video is gonna give all the feels to a very specific generation. I grew up outside the USA and still imprinted on it, I remember all the characters’ catch phrases. Did not know I needed to see them being nice to each other. My heart grew three sizes.

Jenny Lawson used google to poorly translate the cover of the Russian version of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened and it’s hysterical:
