  • The Bachelor Bargain

The Bachelor Bargain by Maddison Michaels

The Bachelor Bargain by Maddison Michaels is 99c! This is book one in the Secrets, Scandals, and Spies series. I’m very curious about this one and it’s sitting at a 4.2-star rating on Goodreads right now. May buy it for myself!

Bachelors, beware. For those who keep secrets and prey on the innocent, you will be exposed, with all your dirty little secrets laid bare to one and all. You have been warned…

Lady Olivia Haliford has had enough. Tired of seeing women lose their reputations, futures, and sometimes even their lives to scandal while the men walk free, she is ready to take back power and stand up for women everywhere. Along with her two closest friends, she plans to start an anonymous publication dedicated to dishing the dirt and exposing the secrets of society’s most eligible bachelors. But in order to do so, she will have to make a deal with the devil…

Sebastian Colver, known as the Bastard of Baker Street, is feared throughout London as the city’s most notorious gambling den owner and undisputed king of the underground. His life is nothing but darkness and danger, so he is shocked when the petite lady gracing his doorstep seems anything but frightened of him. He agrees to be a silent partner in the publishing of the Gazette if she will use her connections to sponsor his sister and launch her into Society and away from his dark world.

But exposing the secrets of the rich and powerful can be dangerous. Almost as dangerous as a lady falling in love with the king of the underground.

  • A Trial of Sorcerers

A Trial of Sorcerers by Elise Kova

A Trial of Sorcerers by Elise Kova is 99c! This was a previous Hide Your Wallet selection. I’ve read a few of Kova’s books and they feel like older YA or New Adult fantasy romances. They’re also pretty light on sexual content, unless this one deviates from that. Let me know in the comments!

    Ice is in her blood.

Eighteen-year-old Waterrunner Eira Landan lives her life in the shadows — the shadow of her older brother, of her magic’s whispers, and of the person she accidentally killed. She’s the most unwanted apprentice in the Tower of Sorcerers until the day she decides to step out and compete for a spot in the Tournament of Five Kingdoms.

Pitted against the best sorcerers in the Empire, Eira fights to be one of four champions. Excelling in the trials has its rewards. She’s invited to the royal court with the “Prince of the Tower,” discovers her rare talent for forbidden magic, and at midnight, Eira meets with a handsome elfin ambassador.

But, Eira soon learns, no reward is without risk. As she comes into the spotlight, so too do the skeletons of a past she hadn’t even realized was haunting her.

Eira went into the trials ready for a fight. Ready to win. She wasn’t ready for what it would cost her. No one expected the candidates might not make it out with their lives.

This is the first book in a young adult, epic fantasy that’s a tale of competition, coming of age, distant lands, elemental magic, and romance. It’s perfect for fans of the Legend of Korra, Truthwitch, and A Sorcery of Thorns.

  • The Memory of You

The Memory of You by Jamie Beck

The Memory of You by Jamie Beck is $1.99 at Amazon! This looks to be an emotional, small town,  contemporary romance, judging by the description. Readers definitely recommend having tissues handy for this one, while others felt all the emotional turmoil was too much at times.

When Steffi Lockwood returns to Sanctuary Sound to start over, she has no idea she’ll also get a second chance with her first love.

Steffi Lockwood has survived more than most. Recovering from an assault, she returns to her coastal Connecticut hometown to rebuild her life the best way she knows how: with her hands. But starting a remodeling business with one longtime friend puts her in the middle of a rift with another. Worse, being hired by her ex-boyfriend’s mother forces her to confront old regrets.

Public defender Ryan Quinn wasn’t shocked when his wife left him, but he was floored when she abandoned their daughter. With his finances up in the air, the newly single dad returns to his childhood home in Sanctuary Sound. The last person he expects, or wants, to see working on his family house is Steffi Lockwood—his first love who shattered his heart.

Although Steffi and Ryan are different people now, dormant feelings rekindle. But when Steffi’s secrets begins to surface, will it bring them together…or tear them apart for good?

  • The Siren

    The Siren by Tiffany Reisz

RECOMMENDED: The Siren by Tiffany Reisz is $1.99! I’m getting Showgirls vibes from the new cover. Elyse loves Reisz’s writing and gave this book an A when she reviewed, saying:

The Siren is surprisingly light on sex, but heavy on kink, and it’s the most detailed look into S&M I’ve ever read. It’s also sharp and smart, and incredibly well-written. I couldn’t stop at The Siren. I read the next books immediately after in one big bleary-eyed kink fest.

Notorious Nora Sutherlin is famous for her delicious works of erotica, each one more popular with readers than the last. But her latest manuscript is different—more serious, more personal—and she’s sure it’ll be her breakout book…if it ever sees the light of day.

Zachary Easton holds Nora’s fate in his well-manicured hands. The demanding British editor agrees to handle the book on one condition: he wants complete control. Nora must rewrite the entire novel to his exacting standards—in six weeks—or it’s no deal.

Nora’s grueling writing sessions with Zach are draining…and shockingly arousing. And a dangerous former lover has her wondering which is more torturous—staying away from him…or returning to his bed?

Nora thought she knew everything about being pushed to your limits. But in a world where passion is pain, nothing is ever that simple.

I just noticed this today, so I’m not sure if this is something recent, but books 1, 2, and 5 of the Murderbot Diaries (ALL SYSTEMS RED, ARTIFICIAL CONDITION, and NETWORK EFFECT) are available on Kindle Unlimited. Unfortunately, books 3, 4, and 6 of the series are not on KU, but if you want to start the series and have a KU membership, this would be a good way to begin.

Tiffany Reisz is probably one of my favorite authors. I discovered her Sinners series after rage reading half of the first 50-shades novel and p***ed off that author couldn’t be bothered to do any research but made highly uneducated guesses about consent and power exchange relationships. Reisz is either intimately acquainted with power exchange or did a ton of research…I believe she’s overlooked in the Romance community because her books are short on sex but remain dark romances. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. (LOL)
