Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton
The Widow of Rose House!!
The book that I would never have read if it weren’t for SBTB is The Blacksmith Queen by G.A. Aiken/ Shelly Laurenston. It is just so crazy and totally different from what I usually read, and I LOVED it!
Just started listening to “Crying at H-Mart”. I’ve got a grief situation going on in my life, so this book is really working for me. Not to mention all the talk of food!
Definitely Lucy Parker’s books! My favorite was Act Like It.
Everyone’s favourite Murderbot! So so good!
I’ve discovered many books…some good and not so good. I’ve learned of Tessa Dare, or other Recency books.
Passions of the Wereshark
Well, ok, so I didn’t read it, but I loved the review most!
The book I found here that I love the best? The Governess Affair, by Courtney Milan. This started my long, expensive love affair with Courtney Milan (I have her on auto-buy now, it saves time and trouble).
I can’t even figure out how many gems SBTB has brought me over the years! I know Nalini Singh was one of my first discoveries here and I am still engrossed by everything she publishes. I also discovered The Wallflower series through this site and wow, I’ve reread those so many times!
So many wonderful discoveries here over the years, but I think the best one was Act Like It by Lucy Parker. She’s on my must-buy list because of SBTB, so thank you!!
For real by Alexis Hall and also probably dozens and dozens of others
This is a long time ago, but Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase. I had started reading romance back in the 1980s when it was a lot of alpholes, and I sort of gave it up when I realized how toxic it was. Found my way back via this site, and LOS was the first rec to make me realize something different was going on.
I think my favorite series that was recommended to me from your amazing site was the Charlie Davidson series!!! So good!!
Absolutely love this bag!!!
Thanks so much!
There’s been so many, but recommending Lucy Parker made me but her books and now she’s an auto buy for me
So many of the smart trashy books I’ve read over the past decade were found via this site. It’s hard to pick my favorite. Off the top of my head, the Lucy Parker books have brought me so much joy. And Murderbot.
SBTB was my intro to Romancelandia 9? 10? years ago. So really I found all the my favorite books because of this site.
Oh man–soooo many. Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Kim Harrison, and those just touch on Urban Fantasy. Megan Whalen Turner for fantasy. Bujold, Bach, and Sinclair for SF. Also basically all the romance I read. I can’t even begin to narrow it down. The reviews and articles are great, but in the end, the best source of recs for me has been the community. My reading was dogged, but so attenuated when I stumbled on SB-TB back in 2007, and I’m incredibly grateful that I did. All I can say is thanks, SBs, & keep up the good work.
I found out about Murderbot through this site – thanks!
I’ll join the crew mentioning Lucy Parker. I wouldn’t have picked up Spoiler Alert if not for this site…and so many others. I love the commitment here to highlighting more inclusive authors and genuinely look forward to the newsletter everyday. Thanks for all you do.
Pretty much everything by Courtney Milan and Lucy Parker!
Clumsy writing in my original comment. I know Spoiler Alert is Olivia Dade, not Lucy Parker 🙂
The majority of the books I read are from Smart Bitches Trashy Books. Most recent find I enjoyed immensely is the Wrexford and Sloane Mysteries by Andrea Penrose. Keep up the works ladies and thank you!
Looking at all the other comments I realize how wide ranging the book reviews here are. Thank you! I recently appreciated the recommendation for Courtney Milan’s The Devil Comes Courting. so many reasons to love this story– the characters, settin g, the writing.
Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie! There’ve been many many others I’ve found and loved because of Smart Bitches, but Bet Me is one of my absolute favorites. Happy Hanukkah!
I discovered Her Big City Neighbor by Jackie Lau on Smart Bitches, and I just love her books now!
I discovered Smart Bitches Trashy Books at almost the same time I started reading romance, so for a while, pretty much everything I was reading had been reviewed here. Most recently, I read You Sexy Thing by Cat Rambo and loved it. I’m really hoping for a sequel!
This year my favorite book discovered was probably Wrong to Need You, in Alisha Rai’s Forbidden Hearts series. I’m usually more into historicals than contemporaries but I really loved this series.
I discover SO many books here but right now I am loving TJ Kingfisher books
I think I find the book, Paradise the most interesting because it is a reflection of what we have been experiencing the last few years.
The review on The Spymaster’s Lady set me off on a wonderful Joanna Bourne binge!
Sweep of the Blade by Ilona Andrews
It has to be swordheart for this year by T Kingfisher!
The SBTB recommendation I remain all-time most grateful for is Shelly Laurenston’s Los Angeles Crows series. I love those books so much.
Happy Hanukkah, and thank you for including us in your celebration!
Definitely the Murderbot Diaries!
Omg The Bride, which did not sound up my alley but I heard rec’d so much I had to try it. Loved it!
How to Survive a Modern Day Fairy Tale
The *squee* review for Eclipse by Celia Lake gave me a whole world of gentle, thoughtful, magical books to check out. I think Eclipse might still be my favorite, but I’m working my way through her other books now and I like so much about all of them.
I really enjoyed Eclipse, by Celia Lake. It’s a book I never would have found without the review or rec I read here, and it hit a lot of the right notes for me. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
