The Intimacy Experiment

RECOMMENDED: The Intimacy Experiment by Rosie Danan is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal. so get it while you can. Ellen gave this one a B+:
I found The Intimacy Experiment to be a very strong entry in the annals of “sexy ice queen melts for beta hero and beta hero only” romance. The dialogue is excellent when it’s funny, when it’s serious, and when it’s tender.
Naomi and Ethan will test the boundaries of love in this provocative romance from the author of the ground-breaking debut, The Roommate.
Naomi Grant has built her life around going against the grain. After the sex-positive start-up she cofounded becomes an international sensation, she wants to extend her educational platform to live lecturing. Unfortunately, despite her long list of qualifications, higher ed won’t hire her.
Ethan Cohen has recently received two honors: LA Mag named him one of the city’s hottest bachelors and he became rabbi of his own synagogue. Taking a gamble in an effort to attract more millennials to the faith, the executive board hired Ethan because of his nontraditional background. Unfortunately, his shul is low on both funds and congregants. The board gives him three months to turn things around or else they’ll close the doors of his synagogue for good.
Naomi and Ethan join forces to host a buzzy seminar series on Modern Intimacy, the perfect solution to their problems–until they discover a new one–their growing attraction to each other. They’ve built the syllabus for love’s latest experiment, but neither of them expected they’d be the ones putting it to the test.

Lord of the Last Heartbeat by May Peterson is $1.99! This is book one in the Sacred Dark fantasy romance series. I believe this series and the most recent book The Calyx Charm have been recommended a few times on the site. Have you read this one?
Stop me. Please.
Three words scrawled in bloodred wine. A note furtively passed into the hand of a handsome stranger. Only death can free Mio from his mother’s political schemes. He’s put his trust in the enigmatic Rhodry—an immortal moon soul with the power of the bear spirit—to put an end to it all.
But Rhodry cannot bring himself to kill Mio, whose spellbinding voice has the power to expose secrets from the darkest recesses of the heart and mind. Nor can he deny his attraction to the fair young sorcerer. So he spirits Mio away to his home, the only place he can keep him safe—if the curse that besieges the estate doesn’t destroy them both first.
In a world teeming with mages, ghosts and dark secrets, love blooms between the unlikely pair. But if they are to be strong enough to overcome the evil that draws ever nearer, Mio and Rhodry must first accept a happiness neither ever expected to find.

The Border Trilogy by Amanda Scott is $3.99! This is a set of three historical romances. For the most part, readers enjoyed the trilogy. However, some readers mentioned that the first book in particular took a while to get through because the second half was so frustrating. The first book is on sale for $1.99, if you’d rather just commit to one.
A special three-in-one edition of Amanda Scott’s enthralling Border Trilogy
In Border Bride, as Mary, Queen of Scots, languishes in the Tower of London as a prisoner of her cousin, Queen Elizabeth, war tears Scotland apart. To save her beloved homeland, a proud Highland beauty named Mary Kate MacPherson must wage her own battle when she’s forced into wedlock with the seductive Sir Adam Douglas.
In Border Fire, under cover of night, Rabbie Redcloak leads his ragtag army to defend Scotland’s borders against their English enemies. Few know that the legendary highwayman, who could find his way to hell and back, is in reality Sir Quinton Scott, scion of a powerful Scottish clan. Captured during a daring raid, he’s sentenced to hang. Luck comes his way in the form of an unlikely savior: a silver-blond beauty who risks her life to save his.
And in Border Storm, the rebellious daughter of a Scottish march warden, Lady Laurie Halliot is as fearless as she is beautiful. Now, to protect her runaway sister who stands accused of murder, Laurie offers herself as hostage—and reluctant bride—to the man who is her country’s enemy. She prays that her sister will return before the next wardens’ meeting, or Laurie herself will have to bear the punishment.

Cursed Objects by J.W. Ocker is $2.99 at Amazon! If you’re like me and want it to always be spooky season, this is a book for you. It does what it says on the tin and tells you the stories of dozens of objects rumored to be cursed.
An illustrated compendium that reveals the true stories behind the most infamous, creepy, and bizarre real-life cursed objects throughout history. Spanning decades and continents, subjects range from the opulent Hope Diamond to the humble Busy Stoop chair.
They’re lurking in museums, graveyards, and private homes around the world. Their stories have inspired countless horror movies, reality TV shows, campfire tales, books, and even chain emails. They’re cursed objects, and in order to unleash a wave of misfortune, all they need…is you. As a culture, we can’t seem to get enough of cursed objects. But never before have the true stories of these infamous real-life items been compiled into a fascinating and chilling volume.
Entries include:
• Annabelle the Doll, a Raggedy Ann doll which inspired the acclaimed horror franchise The Conjuring
• The Tomb of Tutankhamen, the discovery of which kicked-started media hysteria over a rumored “Curse of the Pharaohs”
• The Ring of Silvianus, a Roman artifact believed to have inspired J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit
• The Hope Diamond, which was owned by kings and inspired the Heart of the Ocean in James Cameron’s Titanic
• The Dybbuk Box, which was sold on eBay and inspired the horror film The PossessionWhether you believe in curses or not, the often tragic and always bizarre stories behind these objects will fascinate you. Many of them have intersected with some of the most notable events and people in history. But beyond Hollywood and beyond the hysteria, author J. W. Ocker suggests that cursed objects are simply objects which have been witness to great human tragedy, and thereafter operate as mechanisms for remembering and retelling those stories. Cursed Objects will be equally appealing to true believers as well as history buffs, horror fans, and anyone who loves a good spine-tingling tale.

Stephen King’s THE STAND is $1.99, if you can stomach a fictional plague at this point. Like many of his books, the ending feels phoned in, but other than the Dark Tower, it’s my favorite of his catalog.
Possibly at Kobo only, the box set of the first 3 books in Skyla Dawn Cameron’s Livi Talbot series (listed as Libi Talbot – Vol I) is $4.99.
Lord of the Last Heartbeat is FANTASTIC!
Mooncakes (which I feel was on my TBR due to a rec from this site?) is $1.99 on kindle today. Maybe elsewhere as well?
Second the vote for Lord of the Last Heartbeat. I could not put it down and renewed my membership in the Bad Decisions Book Club to finish it. Very suspenseful and highly recommended!

Add me to those who really dug Lord of the Last Heartbeat. Someone should review it on this site – I’d like to see Peterson get more attention.. It is definitely high on the romantic/emotional fantasy drama scale but I love that!
On that free list above, kudos to Manaconda, a truly great title. While it does not refer to a male anaconda shifter, it is about a rock star and the title is a media nickname for his penis.
The Livi Talbot series is terrific! It’s October Daye meets Kate Daniela meets Indiana Jones (with a modern lean towards not robbing other cultures).
