First Love, Take Two
First Love, Take Two by Sajni Patel is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance where two exes become roommates. We featured this one on a previous edition of Cover Awe.
On the verge of realizing her dream of being a doctor, Preeti Patel should be ecstatic. But between the stress of her residency, trying to find a job, and managing her traditional, no-boundaries family, Preeti’s anxiety is through the roof. Relationships and love aren’t even an option. Fortunately, Preeti’s finally found a new place to stay . . . only to discover that her new roommate is her ex.
Preeti never quite got over Daniel Thompson. Super-hot, plenty of swagger, amazing cook—the guy is practically perfect. And if it weren’t for their families, there might have been a happily ever after. But it’s hard to keep her sanity and libido in check when the man of her dreams is sleeping mere feet away. Can Preeti and Daniel find a way to stand up and fight for each other one last time . . . before they lose their second chance?

Velocity Weapon
Velocity Weapon by Megan E. O’Keefe is $2.99! This is book one in a new space opera that focuses on siblings. I’ve heard good things about this one, but anything labeled “space opera” gives me pause since that isn’t my preferred sci-fi subgenre.
Dazzling space battles, intergalactic politics, and rogue AI collide in Velocity Weapon, the first book in this epic space opera by award-winning author Megan O’Keefe.
Sanda and Biran Greeve were siblings destined for greatness. A high-flying sergeant, Sanda has the skills to take down any enemy combatant. Biran is a savvy politician who aims to use his new political position to prevent conflict from escalating to total destruction.
However, on a routine maneuver, Sanda loses consciousness when her gunship is blown out of the sky. Instead of finding herself in friendly hands, she awakens 230 years later on a deserted enemy warship controlled by an AI who calls himself Bero. The war is lost. The star system is dead. Ada Prime and its rival Icarion have wiped each other from the universe.
Now, separated by time and space, Sanda and Biran must fight to put things right.

Applied Electromagnetism
Applied Electromagnetism by Susannah Nix is 99c! This contemporary romance is book four in the Chemistry Lessons series, which has mostly been reviewed favorably here. All of the books feature women in STEM and this one has a road trip, workplace element.
A business trip with the office hottie turns into a road trip from hell.
Adam Cortinas may be gorgeous, but he’s made it clear he can’t stand Olivia—and the feeling is one hundred percent mutual. Too bad, because in order to bring the company’s new power plant online, they’re stuck with each other for the next week.
When their travel plans go horribly awry, Olivia finds herself stranded in the middle of nowhere with Adam, AKA the bane of her existence.
He’s in her space and in her head. All the forced proximity is driving Olivia insane. That’s the only explanation for these FEELINGS she’s suddenly having.
But it doesn’t change anything. They still hate each other.
Right?
Applied Electromagnetism is the fourth full-length novel in a series of standalone rom-coms about women in STEM fields.

THE SOUND OF STARS by Alechia Dow is $1.99. Two years ago, a misunderstanding between the leaders of Earth and the invading Ilori resulted in the death of one-third of the world’s population. Today, seventeen-year-old Ellie Baker survives in an Ilori-controlled center in New York City. All art, books and creative expression are illegal, but Ellie breaks the rules by keeping a secret library. When young Ilori commander Morris finds Ellie’s illegal library, he’s duty-bound to deliver her for execution. But Morris isn’t a typical Ilori… and Ellie and her books might be the key to a desperate rebellion of his own.
I wrote about MEET ME UNDER THE MISTLETOE in this Saturday’s WAYR. I won’t recap it all here, but I thought most of the stories were worthwhile, especially the ones by Claire Contreras, Marie Luis, and Katee Robert. This is part of the fairly dark Midnight Dynasty series, so many of the stories do lean toward dark. Also, there are a number of books titled MEET ME UNDER THE MISTLETOE, so you can find this one in the Kindle Store using the title + M. Robinson.
Also, Georgette Heyer’s ARABELLA is a KDD for $1.99 today. Beautiful, strong-willed, and impoverished Arabella is in London for the season. She clashes with wealthy and equally strong-willed Robert Beaumaris…with predictable romantic results. I did find it interesting that one of the book’s blurbs (from Adjoa Andoh, Lady Danbury in Bridgerton) describes Heyer, the Grande Dame of Regency romance, as “My generation’s Julia Quinn.” That did make me smile.
Intrigued by Meet Me Under the Mistletoe.
The Kindle edition of The Frangipani Tree Mystery by Ovidia Yu, which is the first book in the Crown Colony series, is on sale for 99 cents. It’s one of the series that SB Sarah mentioned in her recent post.
I just saw that Sarah Mayberry’s SWEETHEART, one of my favorite books of 2021, is on sale for 99-cents. It’s not only a wonderful romance about a woman falling for her sister’s ex, it’s also an sensitive exploration of the impact mental illness has on the sufferer and their family. Highly recommended.
@DiscoDollyDeb, I was coming here to post about Sweetheart. I haven’t read it yet and was excited to see it was on sale. I remember you posted somewhere that you enjoyed it, and I know we share a fondness for Sarah Mayberry as an author.
Trust with a Chaser by Annabeth Albert (mm contemp) is on sale. It’s the first in her Rainbow Cove series set in a fictional small town on the Oregon coast. Three friends open a queer friendly bar and grill in the hero’s hometown, with the goal of reviving the town by turning it into an LGBTQ+ tourist destination.
I don’t remember much about it except that it’s unusually angsty for Annabeth Albert and it wasn’t my favorite of the series. The second book, Tender with a Twist, is one of favorite comfort re-reads. But meh Annabeth Albert is still pretty good.
I enjoyed Velocity Weapon by Megan E. O’Keefe but have not yet been motivated to read the follow on book.
