The Frozen Crown
The Frozen Crown by Greta Kelly is $1.99! This is the first book in a fantasy duology and was mentioned in a Kindle Daily Deal. One thing that grinds my gears is anything fantasy-related with a youngish heroine is automatically classified as young adult. I’m pretty sure this one is adult fantasy, maybe with some crossover appeal.
“Propulsive and intricate, Greta Kelly has constructed a world of twisting politics and thrilling magic following a heroine who is both clever and uncompromising, but ultimately, has heart. A stellar read that I thoroughly enjoyed.” — Emily Duncan, New York Times bestselling author of Wicked SaintsÂ
A princess with a powerful and dangerous secret must find a way to save her country from ruthless invaders in this exciting debut fantasy, the first novel in a thrilling duology packed with heroism, treachery, magic, and war.
Askia became heir to the Frozen Crown of Seravesh because of her devotion to her people. But her realm is facing a threat she cannot defeat by sheer will alone. The mad emperor of the Roven Empire has unleashed a horde of invading soldiers to enslave her lands. For months, her warriors have waged a valiant, stealth battle, yet they cannot stop the enemyâs advancement. Running out of time, she sets sail for sun-drenched Vishir, the neighboring land to the south, to seek help from its ruler, Emperor Armaan.
A young woman raised in army camps, Askia is ill-equipped to navigate Vishirâs labyrinthine political games. Her every move sinks her deeper into court intrigues which bewilder and repel her, leaving her vulnerable not only to enemies gathering at Vishir’s gates, but to those behind the palace walls.
And in this glittering court, where secrets are worth more than gold, Askia fears that one false step will expose her true nature. For Askia is a witch gifted with magical abilitiesâknowledge that could destroy not only her life but her people. As her adversaries draw closer, Askia is forced to make an impossible choiceâand no matter what she decides, it may not be enough to prevent Seraveshâs fall.

Mistletoe and Mr. Right
Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler is $2.99! This is an opposites attract holiday rom-com and the second in the series. The first one is on sale for $3.99. I feel like I also need to mention that at one point, the heroine accidentally shoots the hero with a moose tranquilizing dart.
How the moose (almost) stole Christmas.
Lana Montgomery is everything the quirky small town of Moose Springs, Alaska can’t stand: a rich socialite with dreams of changing things for the better. But Lana’s determined to prove that she belongs…even if it means trading her stilettos for snow boots and tracking one of the town’s hairiest Christmas mysteries: the Santa Moose, an antlered Grinch hell-bent on destroying every bit of holiday cheer (and tinsel) it can sink its teeth into.
And really…how hard could it be?
The last few years have been tough on Rick Harding, and it’s not getting any easier now that his dream girl’s back in town. When Lana accidentally tranquilizes him instead of the Santa Moose, it’s clear she needs help, fast…and this could be his chance to finally catch her eye. It’s an all-out Christmas war, but if they can nab that darn moose before it destroys the town, Rick and Lana might finally find a place where they both belong…together.

The Highlander’s English Bride
The Highlander’s English Bride by Vanessa Kelly is 99c! This is book three in the Clan Kendrick series and features a disastrous first impression between the hero and heroine. Have you read this series?
In this dazzling new novel from bestselling author Vanessa Kelly, the wildest member of Clan Kendrick has found his purpose as a government agent. Now he must also meet his match . . .

All three of the Naima Simone Blackout Billionaires books are goodâand theyâre all $2.99 right now. The starting point is a blackout during a very upscale gala, leaving everyone stranded in the dark. Three billionaires each end up spending the time in the dark alone with three different womenâthereâs a spark but what will happen when the lights come back on. Lots of tropesâfake relationship, antagonists-to-lovers, late-best-friendâs exâand a multi-ethnic cast of characters. Plus, letâs not forget those lovely covers! Recommended.
I haven’t read Harlequins since the 80s, but they are really impressing me lately with their covers. Every time I see a contemporary or historical from them, they seem to have well dressed, attractive people who look interested in each other while managing to button their shirts and keep their (often historically accurate!) dresses from melting off. I wish other publishers would take a few notes.
@Stefanie: Wrong Highlander’s Bride book đ Fixed now.
I liked “Mistletoe and Mr. Right” (My favorite of the Moose Springs series so far; I hated the last book in it, tragically) and “Blame it on the Billionaire” is my favorite from that series as well.
Once notorious for being the most unruly Kendrick brother, Graeme now runs dangerous missions for the Kingâs spymaster. Wait a minute. He’s a Scotsman spying for the English King? Is it a redemptive arc wherein he realizes he’s on the wrong side? Did he not read OUTLANDER?
I kid.
OTOH, the first thing a local told us on our travels to the Highlands was “Never trust a Campbell,” because of their traitorous part in the battle at Culloden 275 years ago. Memories run deep apparently. Graeme may need to rethink his current employment.
