  • Writing Her In

Writing Her In by Holley Trent

Writing Her In by Holley Trent is 99c! This is the first book in Trent’s Plot Twist series, which focuses on poly and triad romances with at least one character (sometimes more) involved in the book industry. It’s been recommend in the comments of Whatcha Reading before. Have you read it?

There’s room in a heart for more than one kind of love.

Dara and Adrien Valliere are soul mates and best friends…but they’re not lovers. Their marriage may be unconventional, but it’s satisfying and loving, and they’ve never needed anything or anyone else.

Until they met writer Stacia Leonard.

Stacia built a career on maintaining close ties with her fictional characters while keeping everyone else at arm’s length. She avoids intimacy, apart from a few one-night stands when the loneliness and need become too much. But when Adrien Valliere, her cover model and long-distance friend, invites her for drinks, she’s too fascinated to refuse.

Dara recognizes the physical attraction between her husband and Stacia and sees it for what it is: an opportunity to help Adrien get what he needs. Dara can breathe easy knowing that both she and her husband are happy.

Before long, though, it’s clear that Stacia’s connection isn’t just with Adrien… She and Dara have something special, and it’s something neither of them can—or want to—deny.

  • Heartland

    Heartland by Sarina Bowen

Heartland by Sarina Bowen is 99c! This is the seventh book in the True North series, which is highly recommended here. This one has a college setting and an opposites attract friends to lovers romance. The description mentions “lessons in seduction” and I’m all ears! Seduction lessons are a favorite trope of mine.

An emotional friends to lovers romance full of risky secrets and late-night lessons in seduction.

Dylan is my best friend, and the only person in my life who understands me. He doesn’t mind my social awkwardness or my weird history. The only glitch? He doesn’t know that I’ve been hopelessly, desperately in love with him since the first day we picked apples together in his family’s orchard.

But I know better than to confess.

Now that we’re both in college together, I’m seeing a new side of him. College Dylan drinks and has a lot of sex. None of it with me.

Until the night I foolishly ask him to tutor me in more than algebra…and he actually says yes.

But the cool morning light shows me how badly I’ve endangered our friendship. And I don’t know if anything will be the same

  • Undercover Bromance

Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams is $1.99! A lot of the Bitchery has enjoyed this series about heroes creating a romance book club. It also inspired an actual romance book club for men. Catherine gave this one a D and warns that this may not be the fluffy read you want right now.

Braden Mack thinks reading romance novels makes him an expert in love, but he’ll soon discover that real life is better than fiction.

Liv Papandreas has a dream job as a sous chef at Nashville’s hottest restaurant. Too bad the celebrity chef owner is less than charming behind kitchen doors. After she catches him harassing a young hostess, she confronts him and gets fired. Liv vows revenge, but she’ll need assistance to take on the powerful chef.

Unfortunately, that means turning to Braden Mack. When Liv’s blackballed from the restaurant scene, the charismatic nightclub entrepreneur offers to help expose her ex-boss, but she is suspicious of his motives. He’ll need to call in reinforcements: the Bromance Book Club.

Inspired by the romantic suspense novel they’re reading, the book club assists Liv in setting up a sting operation to take down the chef. But they’re just as eager to help Mack figure out the way to Liv’s heart… even though she’s determined to squelch the sparks between them before she gets burned.

  • Taming the Legend

Taming the Legend by Kat Latham

Taming the Legend by Kat Latham is 99c! This is the fourth book in the London Legends series, which features rugby playing heroes. A few more of them are on sale. This one has a second chance romance, and the third book is also on sale. I enjoyed this series, but it’s been a hot minute since I’ve read it.

When retiring rugby star Ash Trenton considered his next career move, coaching troubled teens at his ex-girlfriend’s California camp wasn’t on the list. But when Camila Morales reappears after eighteen years, begging for his help, he can’t say no to his first and only love.

Camila was just sixteen when Ash moved on to start his rugby career, leaving her heartbroken…and on her own to make a life-changing decision. Now she needs his help to win a tournament prize and save her camp. Relying on Ash is the last thing she wants. But while it’s hard to get over being dumped for a sport, it’s even harder to ignore the rush of attraction that has only gotten stronger after so many years apart.

Coaching teens is the hardest job Ash has ever had, and the task becomes personal when he begins to fall for Camila all over again. But when he is offered his dream job, will he choose the job–or the woman whose heart he already sacrificed once?

WRITING HER IN is very good—and I suddenly realize, after asking about a Cover Model Rec League the other day, that the hero is indeed a cover model (that’s how the writer-heroine meets him). I thought Trent did a good job of showing that the other heroine’s upbringing had been so repressed that she never truly understood her own sexuality. Recommended.

Well, it wasn’t like I didn’t already have 100+ books in my TBR, but dang it I had to get the Bowen and the Trent. I read another of Trent’s poly romances and it wasn’t perfect for me – the focus of the story was *not* ‘how are these three people going to have a mutually-satisfying relationship together’ and the ‘oh we are all three a Thing now’ was rather abruptly resolved – but I liked the publishing/recording industry framework and the characters. So am def willing to give this one a go.

  3. Laurel says:

Sarina Bowen is an auto-buy for me, and I thought Heartland was a solid B. It is the seventh book in the series, and you don’t have to read them all, but it is a great series and I would recommend reading all of them. You see characters from previous books, which is fun, but I think this can be read as a standalone.

  4. Rebecca says:

I’ve loved all of the Bromance books, I particularly love the male feminism and fight against toxic masculinity, by the bro’s. Read them in order though. This one was still a 4 star read from me, however I really loved book 3.

  5. Lisa F says:

The Bowen, Trent and Latham are all indeed good; that is indeed the weakest of the UCB books, though.
