  • Crazy Stupid Bromance

Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams is $1.99! This is the third book in the Bromance Book Club contemporary romance series. Totally on board with the cat cafe named Toebeans. However, I feel like these books have been hit or miss. Thoughts?

A hacktivist and a cat café owner decode the friend zone in this romantic comedy from the author of Undercover Bromance.

Alexis Carlisle and her cat café, ToeBeans, have shot to fame after she came forward as a victim of a celebrity chef’s sexual harassment. When a new customer approaches to confide in her, the last thing Alexis expects is for the woman to claim they’re sisters. Unsure what to do, Alexis turns to the only man she trusts—her best friend, Noah Logan.

Computer genius Noah left his rebellious teenage hacker past behind to become a computer security expert. Now he only uses his old skills for the right cause. But Noah’s got a secret: He’s madly in love with Alexis. When she asks for his help, he wonders if the timing will ever be right to confess his crush.

Noah’s pals in The Bromance Book Club are more than willing to share their beloved “manuals” to help him go from bud to boyfriend. But he must decide if telling the truth is worth risking the best friendship he’s ever had.

  • The Roommate Risk

The Roommate Risk by Talia Hibbert

RECOMMENDED: The Roommate Risk by Talia Hibbert is 99c! This was previously titled Wanna Bet? and Elyse loved this one, giving it an A:

I found this book so smart and so satisfying. It took all the romance tropes I love so much and leveled them up. The hero was charming and sexy and respectful, and the heroine was so much fun, but they both have very real issues that they deal with in a healthy way. I’m all about romances that feature that kind of healing. Bring it on.

Jasmine Allen has many vices. Rahul Khan has just one: her.

For the last seven years, Rahul’s been Jasmine’s closest friend. Sure, he’s strong, sexy, and deliciously stern—but she doesn’t care about that. She certainly isn’t tempted by his wicked smile or his genuine sweetness. She can’t be. Because everything Jas touches turns to dust.

Rahul disagrees. Seven years ago, Jasmine touched him, and he’s still standing—still standing, and still hopelessly in love. When disaster drives Jasmine into his spare bedroom, Rahul prepares for a month of painful proximity to the woman he secretly wants.

But when he realises that Jasmine just might want him, too… all bets are off.

She’s wild. She’s reckless. She doesn’t know how to love, and she doesn’t intend to learn.

But she’s also his. And in this game of desire, Rahul’s playing to win.

  • Steadfast

    Steadfast by Sarina Bowen

Steadfast by Sarina Bowen is 99c at Amazon! This is the second book in the True North series, which has been recommended several times. The hero is an ex-con who struggled with addiction, which might be an issue for some readers, but others loved the second chance, forbidden love romance.

She’s the only one who ever loved him—and the only one he can never have.

Jude lost everything one spring day when he crashed his car into an apple tree on the side of the road. A man is dead, and there’s no way he can ever right that wrong. He’d steer clear of Colebury, Vermont forever if he could. But an ex-con in recovery for his drug addiction can’t find a job just anywhere.

For Sophie Haines, coming face to face with the man who broke her heart is gut-wrenching. Suddenly, he’s everywhere she turns. It’s hard not to stare at how much he’s changed. The bad boy who used to love her didn’t have big biceps and sun-kissed hair. And he’d never turn up volunteer in the church kitchen.

She knows it’s foolish to yearn for the man who returned all the heartsick letters she wrote him in prison. But the looks he sends her now speak volumes.

No one wants to see Sophie and Jude back together, least of all Sophie’s police chief father. But it’s a small town. And forbidden love is a law unto itself.

  • Shades of Treason

Shades of Treason by Sandy Williams

Shades of Treason by Sandy Williams is 99c! This is a scifi romance where the heroine and her former mentor experience pants feelings. Readers loved the amount of action in the book, but felt the ending was unresolved and seemed like a cliffhanger.

Ash would have given her life to save her teammates.
Instead, they gave their lives to save hers.

Lieutenant Ramie Ashdyn is an anomaly, a person whose genetic makeup makes her stronger and smarter than the average human. She’s pledged her life to protect the Coalition, an alliance of thirteen planetary systems, but when a top secret operation turns bloody, she’s charged with treason and the brutal executions of her teammates.

The Coalition needs the information Ash’s team stole on their last mission, so they send in Commander Rhys “Rest in Peace” Rykus to get it. He’s the man who’s responsible for turning Ash into an elite soldier… and he’s a man who isn’t, never was, and never will be in love with the woman he trained. Or so he tells himself.

Ash wants nothing more than to clear her name and be the woman her former instructor wants her to be, but the enemy who killed her teammates did more than frame her for treason and murder: they telepathically silenced her mind, preventing her from saying anything that might point to the truth about what happened.

Now Ash is trapped and set to be executed, the truth dying with her. Unless she can prove her innocence. But taking that path could destroy the Coalition she’s sworn to preserve and protect…

As I commented yesterday when someone mentioned STEADFAST was on sale, STEADFAST is a fabulous book; it’s my favorite of Bowen’s True North series—and probably my favorite Bowen overall. It’s a little darker and sadder than many of Bowen’s other books (both MCs have abusive parents, just different manifestations of the type), but I felt that strain of melancholy just made their relationship and HEA all the sweeter.

The Roommate Risk is my pick here!

The Forgotten Duke by Sophie Barnes is free

  4. MaryK says:

I’ve read Shades of Treason and I enjoyed it, but yeah, it read like the first part of a serial. It’s a “we’ve reached a safe hideout but the bad guys are still looking for us” kind of ending. It was disappointing.

  5. Natalie W says:

Looks like Shades of Treason is the first in a trilogy. 99 pennies is enough for me to one click. Also, totally agree about Steadfast and The Roommate Risk being fabulous.

  7. Jennifer says:

I totally agree on Steadfast. I’ve read most but not all of True North and I don’t know why I keep doing it since most of them are kind of bland and “sweet” and I can’t remember them afterwards. I really liked her old work with The Ivy Years when the two lovebirds had real problems and conflicts and Steadfast is the only one of her “adult” books that does the same. It was a darned good plot and I liked it.

Just finished ‘The Roommate Risk’ based on recs here – and all I can say is Thank You to the Bitchery! I loved it. I was surprised by how nuanced it was (loved how the heroine’s bf’s lover settled the hero’s focus right the hell down – I did NOT see that coming but once I read it, I realized it absolutely had to happen). This is my first Hibbert novel but it won’t be my last.
