Links: Marvel Birds, Josh, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses. It’s May! Welcome!

Things are puttering along here, though I’ll be flying to Florida over the weekend to visit my parents. It’s been over a year since I last saw them after having to head down there last June for some not great reasons.

However, I have my masks and I’m fully vaxxed. I’m interested in seeing how flight travel may or may not have changed since then. Let’s see if I remember how to check myself in and scan my boarding pass.

I was enamored with all of the news of the  “Josh Fight” on Twitter a few weeks ago. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds. A bunch of Joshes get together to playfully duke it out. The winner: a four-year old Josh. The fight also raised money for a children’s hospital and scored hundreds of donations for food backs.

One of my new favorite Instagram accounts is Black Forager. You get to learn how to forage for edible plants and incorporate them in your cooking! The person running the account, Alexis, is also a damn delight.

I’m not being hyperbolic when I say I would die for Kiri, the tiny Japanese firetruck.

Lastly, let’s get a bit goofy and imagine Marvel characters as birds. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I think I’m going with Yondu and his bird pairing.

Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

It’s been *35* years since Robert Palmer’s ADDICTED TO LOVE climbed up the music (that druggy beat!) & video (those girls!) charts. (I have a very specific memory of that song, cruising pretty boys with my bestie in an old green Cadillac with the windows down, blasting the radio).

In case you haven’t heard, Stacey Abrams’s first three romances, published under her pen name of Selena Montgomery, are being republished:

Amanda, please report back on how flying goes! I’ll probably be flying to visit my grandmother in June, as a first plane flight since Feb 2020. As someone who used to fly around every other month and had a routine down, I feel like I’ve forgotten everything and will now be the person slowing down the TSA checkpoint, especially since any distancing protocols will be entirely new to me.

Actually, for a totally unsolicited “Stuff We Like” suggestion, I’d love a travel-related one as a big fan of the Calm Traveler posts from a few years back. Any pandemic-related updates could be useful—hand sanitizers that travel well, mask washing on the road, things that make road trips easier, what kitchens in rentals don’t have that you must bring for your comfort, etc.

@Pear – I’m so pleased that the Calm Traveler posts were so helpful for you! I’ll definitely start gathering travel suggestions for you for an upcoming trip. And as someone who tries to book a place with a kitchen when traveling with the family, I hear you on comfort and essentials. Thanks for the idea!
