Four Historicals on Sale!

  • My Kind of Earl

My Kind of Earl by Vivienne Lorret

My Kind of Earl by Vivienne Lorret is $1.99! This is book two in The Mating Habits of Scoundrels series. Elyse mentioned this in a previous Hide Your Wallet because she was very intrigued by the idea of the heroine starting a fight in a brothel.

USA Today bestselling author Vivienne Lorret continues her charming new trilogy with a bluestocking whose search for information on the mating habits of scoundrels has her stumbling upon the missing heir to an earldom… in the London underworld.

Jane Pickerington never intended to start a brawl in a brothel. She only wanted to research her book. Yet when her simple study of scoundrels goes awry, she finds herself coming to the rescue of a dark, enigmatic stranger… who turns out to be far more than an average rake out for a night of pleasure. He’s positively wild!

Only the most feral and cunning could have survived foundling homes and work houses. Orphaned as an infant, Raven never had another name. At least… not until he meets her. Now he’s face-to-face with the one person who recognizes the strange birthmark on his arm and can reinstate him to his blue-blooded birthright.

All at once, Raven’s life takes a turn. His knowledge of dark alleys and gaming hells never prepared him for gilded ballrooms. So Jane becomes his tutor. Yet, the more lessons in decorum she offers, the more this untamed scoundrel wants to teach her all the ways to be wicked.

  • Fortune Favors the Wicked

Fortune Favors the Wicked by Theresa Romain

RECOMMENDED: Fortune Favors the Wicked by Theresa Romain is $1.99! There’s a treasure hunt, a blind hero, and a former courtesan heroine. Talk about catnip! Redheadedgirl gave this an A grade in a Lightning Review.

    INDECENTLY LUCKY

As a lieutenant in the Royal Navy, Benedict Frost had the respect of every man on board—and the adoration of the women in every port. When injury ends his naval career, the silver-tongued libertine can hardly stomach the boredom. Not after everything—and everyone—he’s experienced. Good thing a new adventure has just fallen into his lap…

When courtesan Charlotte Perry learns the Royal Mint is offering a reward for finding a cache of stolen gold coins, she seizes the chance to build a new life for herself. As the treasure hunt begins, she realizes her tenacity is matched only by Benedict’s—and that sometimes adversaries can make the best allies. But when the search for treasure becomes a discovery of pleasure, they’ll be forced to decide if they can sacrifice the lives they’ve always dreamed of for a love they’ve never known…

  • Project Duchess

    Project Duchess by Sabrina Jeffries

Project Duchess by Sabrina Jeffries is $1.99! This historical romance is the first book in the Duke Dynasty series. I also made a cocktail for this one! Jeffries books are hit or miss for me. What do you think?

From New York Times bestselling author Sabrina Jeffries comes a sparkling new series about an oft-widowed mother’s grown children, who blaze through society in their quest for the truth about their fathers . . . and in the process find that love just might conquer all . . .

A series of stepfathers and a difficult childhood have left Fletcher “Grey” Pryde, 5th Duke of Greycourt, with a guarded heart, enviable wealth, and the undeserved reputation of a rogue. Grey’s focus on expanding his dukedom allows him little time to find a wife. But when his mother is widowed yet again and he meets the charmingly unconventional woman managing his stepfather’s funeral, he’s shocked to discover how much they have in common. Still, Grey isn’t interested in love, no matter how pretty, or delightfully outspoken, the lady . . .

Beatrice Wolfe gave up on romance long ago, and the arrogant Duke of Greycourt with his rakish reputation isn’t exactly changing her mind. Then Grey agrees to assist his grief-stricken mother with her latest “project”: schooling spirited, unfashionable Beatrice for her debut. Now that Beatrice is seeing through Grey’s charms to his wounded heart, she’s having trouble keeping him at arm’s length. But once Grey starts digging into her family’s secrets, she must decide whether her loyalties lie with her family . . . or with the man whose lessons capture her heart . . .

  • Lord of Night

Lord of Night by Erica Ridley

Lord of Night by Erica Ridley is $2.99! This is the third book in the Rogues to Riches series, but can be read as a standalone. Major catnip alert: the heroine is dons a disguise and acts as a Robin Hood-type figure. Readers warn that the book requires some suspension of disbelief, but that it’s a lot of fun. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

Unlike proper debutantes, Miss Dahlia Grenville is secretly Robin Hood in a bonnet. Her home for wayward girls has too many dependents and not enough donations. But just as she’s about to pull off the heist of the Season, she tumbles straight into the arms of the handsome detective who has sworn to deliver Mayfair’s mysterious thief straight to the gallows.

Highly principled Bow Street runner Simon Spaulding’s world is black and white. There’s no mastermind too clever, no criminal alive who can escape the hangman. Until he realizes the delightful young lady he’s been courting is a liar and a thief. Suddenly, his career—and his heart—are in peril. How can he bring her to justice when it means losing her forever?

In the Rogues to Riches historical romance series, sigh-worthy Regency rogues sweep strong-willed young ladies into whirlwind romance with rollicking adventure.

  4. chacha1 says:

My ballroom-dancing-trained brain stuttered at the Jeffries cover. 🙂 The leader holds zir partner with the RIGHT arm, not left! LOL eh we all have our glitches.

  5. laura says:

@chacha1 Whoopsie they are backwards and now I can’t un see it! LOL

  6. FashionablyEvil says:

I enjoyed Fortune Favors the Wicked, but don’t read it for the “missing treasure” plot (it’s not an adventure plot.)

The Jeffries was a bust for me—it was just sort of dull and I remember the sex being very blah. I would say more, but apparently I just gave it one star on Goodreads and didn’t bother to write anything about it.

  7. Sandra says:

The couple on the Lorret cover are asking for a case of frostbite. Stan ding around in the snow with their clothes falling off and she’s not even wearing shoes. At least he’s wearing boots.

  8. Lisa F says:

Fortune Favors the Wicked is definitely the pick of the litter for me!

  9. LAURA says:

@Fashionablyevil the only reason I went for the Jeffries is it was a buck ninety-nine because I run hot and cold with her.
