Welcome to Book Beat!
Book Beat aims to highlight other books that we may hear about through friends, social media, or other sources. We could see a gorgeous ad! Or find a new-to-us author on a list of underrated romances! Think of Book Beat as Teen Beat or Tiger Beat, but for books. And no staples to open to get the fold-out poster.

The Devil Makes Three
Author: Tori Bovalino
Released: August 10, 2021 by Page Street
Genre: Horror, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Young AdultPart mystery thriller and part gothic horror, this genre-blending debut is sure to keep readers on the edge of their seats.
When Tess and Eliot stumble upon an ancient book hidden in a secret tunnel beneath the school library, they accidentally release a devil from his book-bound prison, and he’ll stop at nothing to stay free. He’ll manipulate all the ink in the library books to do his bidding, he’ll murder in the stacks, and he’ll bleed into every inch of Tess’s life until his freedom is permanent. Forced to work together, Tess and Eliot have to find a way to re-trap the devil before he kills everyone they know and love, including, increasingly, each other. And compared to what the devil has in store for them, school stress suddenly doesn’t seem so bad after all.

Fables & Other Lies
Author: Claire Contreras
Released: December 20, 2020 by The Wicked Pen
Genre: Gothic, Paranormal, Romance, Science Fiction/FantasyDo you believe in curses?
I never did.
Not until that fated night, six years ago, when I sat in The Devil’s Chair and made a wish.
Not until it came true.
Not until I met River Caliban himself, heir to a fortune of curses. My fated sworn enemy.
I knew I should have stayed away from him. I should have run the other way when he called out my name, when he flashed that sinful smile of his, but instead, I walked toward him, leaving the light behind. Instead, I go against all reason, against all warning, and attended the gala of the year at his dark, allegedly haunted home at the top of the hill.
The moment I step foot inside I know I’m in trouble, but there’s something about River that magnetizes me, reels me in, and when he asks for the impossible, I find it impossible to turn him away.

I love the cover of ONE WEEK TO CLAIM IT ALL. Harlequin Desire usually has really beautiful covers: attractive models, gorgeous gowns, statement jewelry, and a soothing color palette. Also, the Desire line tends to have more ethnically-diverse MCs and that is reflected in the cover models.
Earlier this week I discovered that Serena Bell had a new book, MAKE ME WILDER, and I’m over halfway through and loving it! The only downside is that this is not part of Bell’s Tierney Bay series (so we’ll have to wait for SO GOOD, the next book scheduled in that series), but the start of a new series, Wilder Adventures, about a group of siblings who run an outdoor adventures company in the Pacific Northwest.
Adriana Herrera’s an autobuy for me! Looking forward to One Week to Claim it!
