  • Lord Holt Takes a Bride

Lord Holt Takes a Bride by Vivienne Lorret

Lord Holt Takes a Bride by Vivienne Lorret is $1.99! This is the first book in The Mating Habits of Scoundrels series. I’m super curious about this one because it seems to take the kidnapping trope and flip it; the heroine’s friends kidnap the hero and it seems the heroine has to smooth things over. Have you read this one?

USA Today Bestselling Author Vivienne Lorret launches a charming new trilogy about three debutantes who get more than they bargained for when it comes to the mating habits of scoundrels . . .

Heiress Winnifred Humphries refuses to marry the odious man her parents have chosen. She’ll marry for love or not at all. But how does a woman know a man truly loves her? Needing answers, she sets out to discover the marriage habits of London’s aristocrats. Yet when her friends kidnap a lord for research, Winn knows they’ve gone too far. Now she’s facing a wickedly handsome scoundrel who wants revenge.

Lord Asher Holt has the perfect plan to free himself of his father’s debts. But when a trio of foolish debutantes abducts him, their scheme ruins everything! Fuming and tied to a chair, Holt overhears that one of them is an heiress. Perhaps he isn’t above a little kidnapping either.

Yet, when the heiress runs away from her own wedding and straight into his waiting carriage, Holt finds himself on an adventure he’ll never forget, falling in love with a woman worth more than any treasure. But will Winn ever believe his heart only desires her . . . and not her fortune?

  • The Bittersweet Bride

The Bittersweet Bride by Vanessa Riley

The Bittersweet Bride by Vanessa Riley is 99c! This is the first book in the Advertisements for Love series and might have a whiff of a secret baby. But please correct me if I’m wrong. Readers warn this book is a bit bananas and has an Old Skool vibe. Would you agree?

Widow Theodosia Cecil needs a husband to help protect her son. The former flower seller turned estate owner posts an ad in the newspaper, and no one is more surprised than she when her first love, the man she thought dead, reappears.

Ewan Fitzwilliam has been at war for six years. Now, the second son of a powerful earl is back but his beloved Theo needs a husband and will not consider him. She believes Ewan left her—in desperate straits—so she denies the feelings she still harbors for the handsome, scarred soldier. Theo and playwright Ewan must overcome bitter lies and vengeful actions that ruined their youthful affair. Theo must reveal her deepest secret in order to reclaim the love that has long been denied.

  • Dear Enemy

    Dear Enemy by Kristen Callihan

Dear Enemy by Kristen Callihan is $1.99! This is a standalone enemies to lovers contemporary romance. It was released back in March and published by Amazon’s romance imprint. Unfortunately, that means it isn’t available at other vendors, but is in the KU offerings.

From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Callihan comes a smart, emotional contemporary romance about finding love with the most unlikely of people.

As kids, they hated each other. Macon Saint was beautiful, but despite his name, Delilah knew he was the devil. That he dated her slightly evil sister, Samantha, was no picnic either. When they broke up, it was a dream come true: Delilah never had to see him again.

Ten years later, her old enemy sends a text.

Delilah’s sister has stolen a valuable heirloom from Macon, now a rising Hollywood star, and he intends to collect his due. One problem: Sam has skipped town.

Sparks still sizzle between Macon and Delilah, only this heat feels alarmingly like unwanted attraction. But Delilah is desperate to keep her weak-hearted mother from learning of her sister’s theft. So she proposes a deal: she’ll pay off the debt by being Macon’s personal chef and assistant.

It’s a recipe for disaster, but Macon can’t stop himself from accepting. Even though Delilah clearly hates him, there’s something about her that feels like home. Besides, they’re no longer kids, and what once was a bitter rivalry has the potential to be something sweeter. Something like forever.

  • The Sinful Scot

The Sinful Scot by Maddison Michaels

The Sinful Scot by Maddison Michaels is 99c! This is the third book in the Saints & Scoundrels series, though it works as a standalone. Judging from the book description, there seems to be a lot of catnip here including a road trip and childhood friends to lovers.

Constance Campbell, the Duchess of Kilmaine, once believed that all she needed in life was a duke. But everything unraveled when she realized her perfect husband was a perfect monster. Now broken beyond repair, she hides her misery behind a perfect Society mask…even from her childhood friend, Alec.

Dr. Alec McGuiness reluctantly finds himself back in Scotland, and checking up on the only woman to ever get under his skin, Connie. After she spurned him many years ago, he knows his humble life as a doctor could never be enough for her. But when the Duke of Kilmaine is murdered in cold blood, with Connie sleeping right next to him in bed, Alec knows he must protect Connie at all costs from those who would frame her for the duke’s murder.

Now on the run, Connie feels a freedom she only ever dreamed about, and an unexpected attraction to the man who is keeping her safe. But even if they can win her freedom and clear her name, could she ever open her heart up to someone again?

  1. Neile says:

I’m a huge Kristen Callihan fan. She won me over so hard with THE HOT SHOT, a book I immediately re-read after first reading (and have probably read 8 or t10 times since) because it was put together so beautifully. It’s nearly perfect (despite multiple typos), each piece of the romance so carefully placed it’s like a magic puzzle. So when DEAR ENEMY was released I was primed to love it and I do. I have seen readers unhappy with the childhood bully aspect of the story, but the author got the adult romance to work for this reader. I highly recommend it, with that caveat for those who don’t want to read anything about childhood bullies who grow up to be decent if imperfect men.

  2. chacha1 says:

Cover snort: ‘The Sinful Scot’ looks like he’s taking a leak.

  3. Lisa F says:

The Riley’s my pick here. Someday Lorett will get something higher than a C from me.

@chacha1 hah, my first and exact thought!

  4. GraceElizabeth says:

Alec McGuinness is just that bit too close to Alec Guinness for me to picture anyone else.

  5. squee_me says:

Lisa F and chacha1, I was thinking The Sinful Scot might be “sinning” on that cover. *wink*

  6. Ren Benton says:

And here I thought the Time-Traveling Buzzcut Bro would get the snark…

  7. DiscoDollyDeb says:

Agree about DEAR ENEMY. It does include high school bullying. I thought the cause & aftermath were well-handled (none of that “he did it because he liked you” nonsense), but it’s there nonetheless.

Totally agree about the cover of THE SINFUL SCOT. His sin is taking a whiz in the great outdoors, apparently. Not a good look!

  8. Emily B says:

Kristen Callihan’s contemporaries are auto-buys for me. Dear Enemy was great, if not a fairly implausible storyline. Still packed a great emotional punch.
