An Improper Arrangement
An Improper Arrangement by Kasey Michaels is $1.99! This is the first book in The Little Season series and features a romance between an American heiress and her chaperone in London. Readers warn that the book starts slowly, but many loved the banter between the hero and heroine.
Experience the drama of the Little Season in the first of a new series by USA TODAY bestselling author Kasey Michaels, in which three dashing war heroes have finally met their matches…
Gabriel Sinclair has returned from battle as reluctant heir to a dukedom. As if his new responsibilities weren’t enough, Gabriel’s aunt enlists him to sponsor a young heiress through London’s Little Season. Yet Miss Thea Neville is hardly the tedious obligation he expected. She’s exotic and enchanting—and utterly unaware of the secret poised to destroy her family’s reputation.
After ten years in America, Thea is ready to do her duty and marry well. Deportment lessons, modistes, balls—the ton is a minefield she could scarcely navigate without Gabriel’s help. By rights, she should accept the first bachelor who offers for her. Instead, she’s succumbing to a dangerous attraction to her wickedly handsome chaperone—one that could unhinge her plans in the most delicious way.

One-Eyed Dukes Are Wild
One-Eyed Dukes Are Wild by Megan Frampton is $3.99! When this book first came out, there were a lot of penis jokes made around SBTB HQ. Some readers felt the book lacked any real conflict, while many loved the heroine’s confidence. It has a 3.7-star rating on Goodreads and is the third book in the Dukes Behaving Badly series.
When does proper behavior deserve a deliciously improper reward?
The scandalously unmarried Lady Margaret Sawford is looking for adventure—and is always up for a challenge. Her curiosity is aroused by a dangerous-looking stranger with an eye patch, an ideal companion for the life she longs for, no matter what Society might say. So when the piratical gentleman turns out to be a duke—and just as boringly proper as any other nobleman—she can’t help but incite him to walk on the wild side.
Well-heeled, well-mannered, and well beyond any interest in society’s expectations, the Duke of Lasham is tired of being perfect. Margaret’s lush beauty and gently laughing eyes are an irresistible temptation to embrace the imperfect—and her. But if a little misbehavior is appealing, unleashing his wild side is completely seductive—as long as the lovely Margaret is the object of his passion . . .

Midsummer Moon
Midsummer Moon by Laura Kinsale is $1.99! This has been discussed and recommended on a few previous podcasts and is a little lighter on angst than Kinsale’s other romances. For many readers, this was one of their first romances and as a bonus, it has an adorable hedgehog. Have you read this one?
An impossible inventor…
Ransom Falconer, Duke of Damerell, is sent to see if Merlin Lambourne, the famous inventor, has created a truly magnificent innovation that can be used in the war against Napoleon. What Ransom doesn’t realize is that Merlin is a woman, and not everyone wants to see her invention become a reality…
With dreams of flight…
Merlin Lambourne is a brilliant yet slightly eccentric scientist whose dream is to build a flying machine. Nothing can distract her from her goals, and Ransom offers her refuge at his estate, a safe haven to work on her invention undisturbed. But when Merlin’s dream puts them both at risk, Ransom must overcome his own fears and realize her invention may be the answer to saving both their lives…

Beast Behaving Badly
Beast Behaving Badly by Shelly Laurenston is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal, which features a few more romances. This is the fifth book in The Pride series and I feel like this one is a favorite for readers. The hero and heroine also have made an appearance in Laurenston’s latest Hot and Badgered books.
Some men just have more to offer. Like hard-muscled, shape-shifting Bo Novikov–part polar bear, part lion, pure alpha. . .
Ten years after Blayne Thorpe first encountered Bo Novikov, she still can’t get the smooth-talking shifter out of her head. Now he’s shadowing her in New York–all seven-plus feet of him–determined to protect her from stalkers who want to use her in shifter dogfights. Even if he has to drag her off to an isolated Maine town where the only neighbors are other bears almost as crazy as he is. . .
Let sleeping dogs lie. Bo knows it’s good advice, but he can’t leave Blayne be. Blame it on her sweet sexiness–or his hunch that there’s more to this little wolfdog than meets the eye. Blayne has depths he hasn’t yet begun to fathom–much as he’d like to. She may insist Bo’s nothing but a pain in her delectable behind, but polar bears have patience in spades. Soon she’ll realize how good they can be together. And when she does, animal instinct tells him it’ll be worth the wait. . .

A Wizard’s Guide To Defensive Baking is 99 cents on Kindle
I love all Shelly Laurenston’s books but ‘Beast Behaving Badly’ is one of my favorites – hilarious!
Definitely a buy!
@Escapeologist: Even just reading the title makes me want to re-read A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking again! That novella was so unbelievably satisfying and fun. Perfect pandemic reading at a fantastic price!
I’d discovered a new sale site yesterday and it broke my wallet.
But, you had to throw a HEDGEHOG at me. Ad I’ve been eyeing that Laurenston for ages…
…. I can use next months budget. After all, it is not as if I’m reading them this month.
(Break your wallet in SFF, lets you search by retailer, did you know William Shatner has a sci fi series? https://theportalist.com/1000-ebook-sale)
I put this in the wrong Sale thread this morning, sorry. For Amazon UK readers, Milla Vane’s A HEART OF BLOOD AND ASHES is 1.99 today.
I remember giving up pretty early on the Midsummer Moon book (despite an absolutely wonderful and hilarious start) due to huge consent issues. I’d suggest reading some reviews first to make sure you won’t be bothered.
I just bought the Laurenston and while I was there was HELPFULLY told by the Amazon.ca algorithm that The Unleashing (same author) is 1.99 too. I don’t know if that’s a sale price or just on the Canada store.
I found the heroine in Midsummer Moon was so young/naive that I was uncomfortable reading about her in an adult relationship. I also remember thinking that she wouldn’t care or even notice if her hero left if she had a fun invention to work on. There were things I liked about the book, but I couldn’t get past the heroine. If it had been a YA romance, I probably would have really enjoyed it.
Midsummer Moon was a big miss for me, with the consent issue being just part of the problem. TBH, I’m not sure how any of Kinsale’s books hold up anymore.
@Maite: I read all of those TekWars books back in the day. There was even a short-lived TV series.
I loved Midsummer Moon, especially on audio narrated by Nicholas Boulton. It was a sweet story and I loved how the reader understands Ransom’s biggest fears and Merlin’s biggest need, and how they come to realize how to satisfy that for each other. Lovely.
@Susan:
WOW! I’d ask if the Tekwar books were good, but that isn’t the correct question.
That TV series has to be somewhere on youtube and I will find it.
Thanks so muc!
Ditto on all the doubts about Midsummer Moon. I found it deeply uncomfortable– glad to hear some similar opinions.
Adored midsummer moon. the heroine to be innocent but also had a quiet wisdom that made her a very strong character. She appears to have her head in the clouds and single mindedfocused on her science but she actually has sharp insights and quite grounded at critical moments. She runs rings around the hero whenever he gets overly controlling. . Actually one of my favorite heroines and on my top romance book list. I haven’t read it for awhile and its mention here inspires me to read it now for a fun escape. No problems with consent issues.
Glad to see other people didn’t enjoy Midsummer Moon- I put it down almost immediately, after
***SPOILERS****
the hero went from intense internal rants about how horrible her family was for leaving the heroine alone and unprotected to having sex with her in the same chapter. Sex she somehow didn’t understand or consent to even while it was happening?!
Yeah I hated it.
