  • First Time in Forever

First Time in Forever by Sarah Morgan

First Time in Forever by Sarah Morgan is $2.99! This is the first book in the Puffin Island series. Fans of Morgan’s romance say this one lacks some oomph, but is still a lovely and sweet ride to an HEA. It has a 4-star average on Goodreads.

Windswept, isolated and ruggedly beautiful, Puffin Island is a haven for day-trippers and daydreamers alike. But this charming community has a way of bringing people together in the most unexpected ways…

It’s been a summer of firsts for Emily Donovan. From becoming a stand-in mom to her niece, Lizzy, to arriving on Puffin Island, her life has become virtually unrecognizable. Between desperately safeguarding Lizzy and her overwhelming fear of the ocean—which surrounds her everywhere she goes!—Emily has lost count of the number of “just breathe” pep talks she’s given herself. And that’s before charismatic local yacht club owner Ryan Cooper kisses her…

Ryan knows all about secrets. And it’s clear that newcomer Emily—with her haunted eyes and the little girl she won’t let out of her sight—is hiding from something besides the crazy chemistry between them. So Ryan decides he’s going to make it his personal mission to help her unwind and enjoy the sparks! But can Puffin Island work its magic on Emily and get her to take the biggest leap of trust of all—putting her heart in someone else’s hands?

  • The Night Raven

The Night Raven by Sarah Painter

The Night Raven by Sarah Painter is 99c! How fortuitous as I just added this to my TBR pile within the last week. KJ Charles wrote a review for this on on Goodreads when it first came out. She enjoyed the premise, but found the shoddy editing to be distracting. Here’s hoping it’s had a bit of a clean up since then.

    Meet Lydia Crow…

Lydia has always known she has no power, especially next to her infamous and more-than-slightly dodgy family. Which is why she carved her own life as a private investigator far away from London.

When a professional snafu forces her home, the head of the family calls in a favour, and Lydia finds herself investigating the disappearance of her cousin, Maddie.

Soon, Lydia is neck-deep in problems: her new flatmate is a homicidal ghost, the intriguing, but forbidden, DCI Fleet is acting in a distinctly unprofessional manner, and tensions between the old magical families are rising.

The Crows used to rule the roost and rumours claim they are still the strongest.

The Silvers have a facility for lying and they run the finest law firm in London.

The Pearl family were costermongers and everybody knows that a Pearlie can sell feathers to a bird.

The Fox family… Well. The less said about the Fox family the better.

For seventy-five years, a truce between the four families has held strong, but could the disappearance of Maddie Crow be the thing to break it?

The Night Raven is the first book in Crow Investigations, an exciting new paranormal mystery series from bestselling author of magical fiction, Sarah Painter.

  • The Locker Room

The Locker Room by Meghan Quinn

The Locker Room by Meghan Quinn is 99c at Amazon! This is a new adult sports romance and I have a few of Quinn’s sports titles on my TBR, though haven’t read them. If you have, what did you think? Is this a good place to start?

Have you heard the rumor around campus about the locker room?

If you haven’t, let me enlighten you: Legend has it if you bring a girl into the sacred after-game domain of the baseball locker room, it will end with a walk down the aisle. One rowdy and naked encounter against the lockers with the girl of your dreams will make her your wife.

Translation: baseball players are stupidly superstitious and believe the locker room has magical powers.

But not all baseball players are superstitious, me included.

So when the girl I’ve fallen for brushes me off, I start to question if I need to switch my way of thinking. Maybe it’s time I finally hand out a coveted invitation to the locker room.

The only question is, will she accept?

  • One Night with the Laird

One Night with the Laird by Nicola Cornrick

One Night with the Laird by Nicola Cornick is 99c! The hero and heroine have had relations in the past and now the heroine needs the hero’s help, so there’s a second chance element. Readers say the sexytimes have a hint of BDSM to them (restraints), but that the villain was rather obvious.

    A wicked attraction!

Fashionable society widow Lady Mairi MacLeod cannot understand the dark passion that binds her to Jack Rutherford. He is everything she dislikes in a man, rakish, arrogant and charming, and she would prefer to forget the night of wicked passion that she spent in his arms.

But when Mairi is threatened by a blackmailer, Jack is the only man who can protect her. As they work together to uncover where the danger lies, their passion reignites. Little by little, the masks they wear burn away, and their most private secrets come to light…

  1. Michael I says:

The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary is on sale for 2.99 for Amazon Kindle, B&N Nook, Apple Books and possibly others.

  2. Darlynne says:

I read THE NIGHT RAVEN and felt it had potential to develop with later books. The magical families dynamic is interesting/complicated, as are the ghost roommate and the inspector. Lydia seemed kind of clueless, but technically she is, as someone just starting out in the investigation business. For this price, I’d say go for it.

  3. Tam says:

Oh, I really liked the Flatshare! I don’t usually like contemporaries, but that one was surprisingly lovely. (Also my sister who works in publishing had a LOT to say about terrible, awful publishing salaries which could absolutely drive a heroine into this kind of housing situation.)

  4. Kareni says:

    I also enjoyed The Flatshare.

  5. Darlynne says:

For Amazon UK readers, Milla Vane’s A HEART OF BLOOD AND ASHES is 1.99 today.
