  • Mistletoe and Mr. Right

Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler

Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler is $2.99! This is one of today’s Kindle Daily Deals and is an opposites attract holiday rom-com. I feel like I also need to mention that at one point, the heroine accidentally shoots the hero with a moose tranquilizing dart.

How the moose (almost) stole Christmas.

Lana Montgomery is everything the quirky small town of Moose Springs, Alaska can’t stand: a rich socialite with dreams of changing things for the better. But Lana’s determined to prove that she belongs…even if it means trading her stilettos for snow boots and tracking one of the town’s hairiest Christmas mysteries: the Santa Moose, an antlered Grinch hell-bent on destroying every bit of holiday cheer (and tinsel) it can sink its teeth into.

And really…how hard could it be?

The last few years have been tough on Rick Harding, and it’s not getting any easier now that his dream girl’s back in town. When Lana accidentally tranquilizes him instead of the Santa Moose, it’s clear she needs help, fast…and this could be his chance to finally catch her eye. It’s an all-out Christmas war, but if they can nab that darn moose before it destroys the town, Rick and Lana might finally find a place where they both belong…together.

  • A Bollywood Affair

A Bollywood Affair by Sonali Dev

A Bollywood Affair by Sonali Dev is $1.99! Many of Dev’s books are frequently on sale. If you’re missing one in your collection, you may be able to grab it at a discount. Dev’s books are like reading a soap opera, so expect some really angsty, emotional moments. Do you have a favorite Dev romance?

Mili Rathod hasn’t seen her husband in twenty years—not since she was promised to him at the age of four. Yet marriage has allowed Mili a freedom rarely given to girls in her village. Her grandmother has even allowed her to leave India and study in America for eight months, all to make her the perfect modern wife. Which is exactly what Mili longs to be—if her husband would just come and claim her.

Bollywood’s favorite director, Samir Rathod, has come to Michigan to secure a divorce for his older brother. Persuading a naïve village girl to sign the papers should be easy for someone with Samir’s tabloid-famous charm. But Mili is neither a fool nor a gold-digger. Open-hearted yet complex, she’s trying to reconcile her independence with cherished traditions. And before he can stop himself, Samir is immersed in Mili’s life—cooking her dal and rotis, escorting her to her roommate’s elaborate Indian wedding, and wondering where his loyalties and happiness lie.

  • Meet Cute

    Meet Cute by Helena Hunting

Meet Cute by Helena Hunting is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal, which also features a mix of genre fiction and nonfiction. I made a yummy, boozy chocolate peanut butter milkshake for this release. Readers found this to be a little too cutesy, while others recommend this one for a bubbly and sweet romance.

The New York Times bestselling author of Pucked and The Good Luck Charm delivers a Hollywood happily-ever-after where a famous heartthrob falls for his ultimate fangirl in this sexy standalone romantic comedy.

Talk about an embarrassing introduction. On her first day of law school, Kailyn ran – quite literally – into the actor she crushed on as a teenager, ending with him sprawled on top of her. Mortified to discover the Daxton Hughes was also a student in her class, her embarrassment over their meet-cute quickly turned into a friendship she never expected. Of course, she never saw his betrayal coming either…

Now, eight years later, Dax is in her office asking for legal advice. Despite her anger, Kailyn can’t help feeling sorry for the devastated man who just became sole guardian to his thirteen-year-old sister. But when her boss gets wind of Kailyn’s new celebrity client, there’s even more at stake than Dax’s custody issues: if she gets Dax to work at their firm, she’ll be promoted to partner.

The more time Kailyn spends with Dax and his sister, the more she starts to feel like a family, and the more she realizes the chemistry they had all those years ago is as fresh as ever. But will they be able to forgive the mistakes of the past, or will one betrayal lead to another?

  • Confessions of a Royal Bridegroom

Confessions of a Royal Bridegroom by Vanessa Kelly

Confessions of a Royal Bridegroom by Vanessa Kelly is $2.99! This is the second book in her Renegade Royals series, and has a 3.8-star average. Kelly’s books can be hit or miss for me, but I also know I’m particularly picky about tone in historical romances. The fifth book is also on sale for $1.99.

They are the Renegade Royals, illegitimate sons of the Royal Princes, each finding his rightful place in society–and the woman destined to be his perfect match. . .

Some men are born into scandal. Others pursue it with a passion. Griffin Steele, secret son of the Duke of Cumberland, is guilty on both counts. Yet somehow London’s most notorious scoundrel has been saddled with an abandoned baby boy–and with the unflappable, intriguing spinster summoned to nurse him. . .

Justine Brightmore may be a viscount’s niece, but she’s also a spy’s daughter, determined to safeguard the infant when his suspected royal parentage makes him a target. Yet how to protect herself from the rakish Griffin? Marriage might shield her reputation, but it can only imperil her heart, especially with a groom intent on delicious seduction. . .

  1. DiscoDollyDeb says:

Although not a romance, Caroline Graham’s WRITTEN IN BLOOD—one of her Inspector Barnaby/Midsomer Murders and one of the earliest adaptations in the long-running tv series—is a $1.99 KDD today. I haven’t read it since the mid-1990s, so I’m not sure how well it hold up today, but I definitely recommend it for fans of English village murder-mysteries that aren’t quite “cozies.”

  2. lilbroccoli says:

Meet Cute bothered me because the romance was based on a really unethical situation. The heroine is supposed to be representing the hero’s little sister’s best interests in a custody battle (between hero and aunt), so this relationship is a pretty big conflict of interest there. Really surprised to see anyone thought it was too cutesy because even aside from the ethics, heroine had to take on a really unnecessary amount of the emotional labor of caregiving for the sister.

  3. Varian Ross says:

I loved A Bollywood Affair, though reading it made me hungry for Indian food!

  4. Escapeologist says:

@lilbroccoli thank you for calling out the ethical issues and emotional labor, that can be exhausting to read about – especially when expecting a cute fluffy story

  5. Lisa F says:

I’ve been enjoying Morgenthaler’s series; enjoyed the Dev. I’m up and down on Hunting and Kelly, and I admit this isn’t my favorite among Kelly’s books.

  6. Lora says:

I think I was in the minority who found Meet Cute contrived and cringe worthy with zero character development. It kept me away from the author’s other books

  7. Stefka says:

I read the previous Sarah Morganthaler book and found it to be too slapstick/over the top for my taste. Almost a DNF. Having lived there when I was a kid, I prefer my Alaska books to be a little more rooted in reality!

  8. Laura says:

The Vanessa Kelly cover is delightfully sexy and old school 🙂 And if you are enjoying the Kick Ass Women in history feature: when you aren’t listening to SBTB podcast take a listen to The History Chicks.

  9. hng23 says:

The original cover for A Bollywood Affair was so gorgeous with the henna patterns & gold bangles. This is just a cartoon.

  10. E.L. says:

Wasn’t really impressed with Mistletoe and Mr. Right. It was too long. I was also expecting more moose hijinks, but got a lot of awkward dialogue instead. Seriously, the banter in this book wasn’t flirty or cute; it was cringey.

  11. Michelle says:

I was sold on trying the Dev but the sale doesn’t seem to have been matched with Kobo. Oh well; maybe another time.

  12. A complete aside from someone who knows little about moose – would the amount of tranquiliser needed to take down a moose not actually KILL a human being?
