Happy Seventh Night of Hanukkah!
I love how each night gets brighter and brighter in my house.
It’s almost time to make s’mores over the menorot! (Kidding – the candles aren’t quite hot enough for that. Ask me how I know!)

Gideon the Ninth. I would never have read it without all the squees here and I loved it. I even gifted a copy to my brother for his birthday.
In A Holidaze
Paladin’s Grace by T. Kingfisher
Syed Masood’s More Than Just a Pretty Face
Really loved the new Milla Vane novels.
Beth O’Leary – The Switch
‘Spoiler Alert’ – Olivia Dade
Sorcery and Cecelia by Patricia C Wrede and Caroline Stevermer
I picked up The Rich Boy by Kylie Scott because the review mentioned groveling.
Love Lettering by Kate Clayburn — so sweet and memorable.
I’ve already used Boyfriend Material as my answer a few times, so I’m going to go with another big favorite- The Widow of Rose House by Diana Biller. I LOVED this book, I enjoyed the characters so very much.
Gosh, I think 85% of what I read comes from SBTB.
This year, there was:
Murderbot by Martha Wells.
Linesman series by S.K. Dunstall.
And most recently (like, 2 days ago) Love Lettering by Kate Clayborn.
Courtney Milan’s The Duke Who Didn’t
The Richmond Thief by Lisa Boero.
Definitely Boyfriend Material.
I don’t know if it’s from this year (fuck you, COVID), but historical mysteries rec’d by SB Sarah.
When I can read, they’re some of my favorites
In the last week: Snowspelled.
Over the past year – so many. Between sales, reviews, reader comments I discovered so many books and authors.
(Amazon should be sending you gift cards as a thank you.)
Jackie Lau’s books
Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert. So many lovely hours spent reading and then rereading it.
Evvie Drake Starts Over
I discovered so many, but one of my favorite finds was T. Kingfisher’s books, starting with Paladin’s Grace.
Like Arijo, *most* of what I end up reading is because of SBTB recommendations and the rest is from running down the traces left from good book feels from those books and authors. I think Lois McMaster Bujold’s The Curse of Chalion fits the “I wouldn’t have read it except for SBTB, and I’m so glad I did” box best.
A recent find: Jackie Lau’s Her Pretend Christmas Date
Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert. I can’t wait to discover Book #2 in the series.
Agree with comments above, anything new I read and enjoyed has been thanks to SBTB. Bless you, Bitchery!
Caroline Linden – Love and Other Scandals
Jill Mansell – Millie’s Fling
and The Girl From The Diadem by Jean Merrill – on actual paper with that lovely old book smell
I’d been much in a reading slump earlier in the year, but somewhere I was reminded about how much I liked Courtney Milan, so I decided to do a re-read of one of her books. It was magic! Joy of reading returned! I started out buying The Brothers Sinister series, and, well… I’m still reading through more series.
A book that I found here? Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade.
PS> Those bags were all beautiful. Congrats to the previous winners.
I couldn’t even begin to list the books & authors I’ve discovered through SBTB—I usually have my TBR notebook open alongside me when I’m on the site, especially Book Beat and WAYR—so I’ll go with the book I’m reading right now: Emma Alcott’s m/m romance, DURING THE FLIGHT, which was mentioned in last week’s WAYR.
The Ninth House. I never would have found this book without the daily sales posts.
Hearts on Hold by Charish Reid
Love Lettering. I hadn’t read anything by Kate Clayborn before but the premise sounded so interesting that I checked it out–definitely a fantastic read!
I discovered Olivia Waite’s Feminine Pursuits series here this year—The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics and The Care and Feeding of Waspish Widows. And hot damn am I glad!
It’s hard to remember now what I discovered on this site, although they were many. I actually read very few new books this year and, as my anxiety increased through COVID lock downs and the recent election, I found myself turning to comfort reads. I do remember reading a Milla Vane. I also read Evvie Drake starts over (I may have messed the title up a bit) with pleasure.
Like others, it’s hard to remember. Can I claim lockdown brain?!? It also stretches to some gift ideas I found here! I’ve been eating up Dorothy Koomson this year — though not strictly romance … most romance-y, rom-com-y is Marshmallows for Breakfast!
I don’t read a lot of contemporary romances, but the review of Spoiler Alert caught my eye and it was one of the best things I read all year long!
Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall. Thanks!
I discovered Alyssa Cole’s work here and am currently glomming everything from her… except her recent thriller because I am a giant chicken.
So, so many good books, but I think the standout for me is TJ Klune’s Green Creek series and The House in the Cerulean Sea.
These days, most of the books I buy (except for my autobuy authors) I find through this site. But lets go with Cara Bastone’s Just a Heartbeat Away, because I then ended up buying more of her books.
Happy Hanukkah!
One recent happy find was Leonie Mack’s My Christmas Number One which @DiscoDollyDeb recommended here.
