Links: Just a Big Ol’ Assortment

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses. There’s no particular theme this week because what is time anymore or brain power, but I hope you enjoy these links all the same!

Next week is Thanksgiving, if you celebrate it, and I’m sure there will be a general weirdness. I’m spending it with just my cat this year and have ordered a very posh Thanksgiving meal to be delivered while I play the latest Assassin’s Creed all day. I’m not mad about it.

Speaking of holidays this year, as someone with an already complicated relationship with this seasonal time, I enjoyed this VICE piece on holiday assumptions and how we can get caught up on what they’re supposed to look and feel like.

The Romancing the Runoff auction has begun! There are over 750+ items to bid on for a wonderful cause. Bidding ends 11/24. Good luck!

Please enjoy these hungry groundhogs.

Frolic is always looking for ways to better serve the romance community. They’d love to hear your thoughts on romance and erotica if you have a few minutes. As a thank you for answering the questions, you’ll be entered to win a $30 gift card to the independent book store of your choice! Our first winners chose to support Anderson’s Bookshop and Love’s Sweet Arrow. Will you be the next winner?

And another palate cleanser: this gorgeous Labyrinth inspired wedding.

Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

That guy completely went over to the groundhog side.

That farmer’s journey with the groundhogs is the most wholesome thing ever.

Thank you for the VICE article. Holidays are stressful. I’m slowly getting better at just saying no, I’ll take all the help I can get in that area.

Chunk and family have their own Youtube channel. It’s as adorable as you’d expect 🙂

For people who need something to binge on this Thanksgiving, I just discovered the show Taskmaster. I realize it’s been going on since 2015, and that they’ve been putting full episodes up on Youtube since 2018, but I’m here now, mmkayyy. Series 4 with Mel, Hugh, Lolly, and Joe is flipping hilarious!

  4. Emma says:

Also, another show I’ve recently found is Gokushufudo, which was originally a manga. I’m not sure how to describe the series in something more coherent than one-word exclamations and snorts, so I’ll just copy-paste Blitz Fansub’s summary of episode 1: “Immortal Tatsu was a legendary Yakuza who hung up his gear to become a househusband for his wife Miku, and her child Himawari. However, in the Yakuza world, his reputation proceeds him and everyone still knows his name. When his old Yakuza gang, Tenjaku-kai, gets in trouble, they decide to ask for Tatsu’s help. Meanwhile, Tatsu is trying to live his new life as a househusband and it’s not going too well because he still carries all the scars and tattoos from his old days that scares people away.” You can watch episode 1 at their website, and they’re slowly getting the whole series up.

There are some really great items in the Romancing the Runoff auction—signed books galore, lots of opportunities for authors to critique manuscripts or query letters, cool arts and crafts, etc. I’m going to have to go back to have a closer look with my credit card!

Okay, just emerged from a deep dive into the Labyrinth wedding shoot and the felicitywestmacott website. So many gorgeous things!! Recommend a 20 minute break from our Covid lives to go visit the land of exquisite wedding clothes.

  7. Escapeologist says:

@Emma thank you for the Taskmaster rec! I’ve been watching the Big Fat Quiz, also on YouTube – Mel and Noel show up there a lot, Joe was on a couple of episodes, plus many more funny people.

  8. Escapeologist says:

Yay the hearts are back! You get a heart, and you get a heart, everyone gets a heart! ♡

  9. Emma says:

@Escapeologist: I watch all the Big Fat Quizzes the second they come out! The Big Fat Quiz of 2020 and the Big Fat Quiz of the 2010s are certainly going to be… something.
