The Girl Next Door
The Girl Next Door by Chelsea M. Cameron is $1.99! Tara and Shana wrote a joint review for this one back in May and gave it a B-:
Shana: I would give this a B-. I loved the wholesome sweetness of the love story. I was rooting hard for Iris and Jude, but the low-conflict storyline left me wanting a little more angst and a lot more plot. This reminded me of a Hallmark Channel movie with girl sex.
New York Times bestselling author Chelsea M. Cameron is back with the opposites-attract, sweet-and-sexy small-town romance you’ve been waiting for.
Iris Turner hightailed it out of Salty Cove, Maine, without so much as a backward glance. Which is why finding herself back in her hometown—in her childhood bedroom, no less—has the normally upbeat Iris feeling a bit down and out. Her spirits get a much-needed lift, though, at the sight of the sexy girl next door.
No one knows why Jude Wicks is back in Salty Cove, and that’s just how she likes it. Jude never imagined she’d be once again living in her parents’ house, never mind hauling lobster like a local. But the solitude is just what she needs—until Iris tempts her to open up.
A no-strings summer fling seems like the perfect distraction for both women. Jude rides a motorcycle, kisses hard and gives Iris the perfect distraction from her tangled mess of a life. But come September, Iris is still determined to get out of this zero-stoplight town.
That is, unless Jude can give her a reason to stay…

Her Lady’s Honor
Her Lady’s Honor by Renee Dahlia is $1.99! Ellen mentioned this one in June’s Hide Your Wallet and was quite interested in both the time period and occupation of one of the heroines:
Ellen: Post-WWI f/f romance with a veterinarian heroine?? HELLO!
The war might be over, but the battle for love has just begun.
When Lady Eleanor “Nell” St. George arrives in Wales after serving as a veterinarian in the Great War, she doesn’t come alone. With her is her former captain’s beloved warhorse, which she promised to return to him—and a series of recurring nightmares that torment both her heart and her soul. She wants only to complete her task, then find refuge with her family, but when Nell meets the captain’s eldest daughter, all that changes.
Beatrice Hughes is resigned to life as the dutiful daughter. Her mother grieves for the sons she lost to war; the care of the household and remaining siblings falls to Beatrice, and she manages it with a practical efficiency. But when a beautiful stranger shows up with her father’s horse, practicality is the last thing on her mind.
Despite the differences in their social standing, Beatrice and Nell give in to their unlikely attraction, finding love where they least expect it. But not everything in the captain’s house is as it seems. When Beatrice’s mother disappears under mysterious circumstances, Nell must overcome her preconceptions to help Beatrice, however she’s able. Together, they must find out what really happened that stormy night in the village, before everything Beatrice loves is lost—including Nell.

It Takes a Scandal
It Takes a Scandal by Caroline Linden is $2.99! This is book two in the Scandalous series, and it has a 3.7-star average on GoodReads. Readers particularly liked that the heroine in this book has a loving home life with caring parents and a close relationship with her sister, and that they are not of the nobility. Many readers also loved the beta hero, Sebastian. Have you read this one?
Sometimes It Takes a Scandal…
Abigail Weston has everything: beauty, wit, and one of the largest dowries in England. Her parents hope she’ll wed an earl. Abigail hopes for a man who wants her desperately and passionately. But the money seems to blind every man she meets—except one.
Sebastian Vane has nothing. He came home from war with a shattered leg to find his father mad and his inheritance gone. He’s not a fit suitor for anyone, let alone an heiress. But Abigail lights up his world like a comet, bright and beautiful and able to see him instead of his ruined reputation. And it might end happily ever after…
To Reveal Your Heart’s Desire
…Until Benedict Lennox begins courting Abigail. Ben is everything Sebastian isn’t—wealthy, charming, heir to an earl. Sebastian won’t give up the only girl he’s ever loved without a fight, but Abigail must choose between the penniless gentleman who moves her heart, and the suitor who is everything her parents want.

Kill Without Shame
Kill Without Shame by Alexandra Ivy is $1.99! This was a previous Hide Your Wallet pick and Elyse was intrigued by the romantic setup. These covers always throw me because they give off post-apocalyptic vibes. But maybe I’m just confusing them with the covers of Rebecca Zanetti’s dystopian romance series.
Five brave military heroes have survived the hell of a Taliban prison to return home—and take on civilian missions no one else can. They’re the men of ARES Security. Highly skilled, intimidating, invincible, and one by one, tested again and again…
Lucas St. Clair’s prestigious family had a political future neatly planned out for him—one that didn’t include his high school sweetheart, Mia Ramon. Under their pressure, Lucas gave her up. But since surviving captivity, he’s a changed man—and a crucial member of ARES Security. When he discovers a dead man clutching a picture of Mia that bears a threatening message, his fiercest protective instincts kick in, and he knows he must go to her.Mia has never forgiven Lucas for breaking her heart, and she’s convinced her feelings for him are in the past. But it’s soon clear that isn’t true for either of them. Now, determined to solve the crime and keep Mia safe, with his ARES buddies backing him up, Lucas will have to reconstruct the murder victim’s last days—and follow a lethal trail that leads right back to the fate of the woman he still loves…

The Dress of the Season by Kate Noble, a novella recommended by EllenM on today’s WAYR, is currently free on amazon.
The entire Ascendant Trilogy by K. Arsenault Rivera is on sale for $2.99 at Amazon US. I’ve had THE TIGER’S DAUGHTER in my wish list forever, obviously all three is too good a deal to pass up. Have any of you read it?
@Darlynne: I havent read the series, but you might want to check out the Oct. 29 Books on Sale post (including the comments) where this boxed set was listed.
This is so cool! Lately it’s been so hard finding new books I want to read and now 3 at once. My library doesn’t have a copy of The Girl Next Door to borrow, and I’ve wanted to read it for ages.
Also
Indian-ish: Recipes and Antics From A Modern American Family, by Priya Krishna is on sale for $3.99 on kindle right now.
@Susan: That’s what I had seen as well elsewhere. I will have to give this more thought. Thank you for reminding me.
Caroline Linden is a fairly new to me author, who has become a favorite. I have read It Takes a Scandal, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I really like Abigail’s family-I believe the father made his fortune in trade (I’ve read many historical romances since this one!) and the premise is the Weston family buys an estate and they are definitely the newcomers to the neighborhood. The affection the family shows to each other is in contrast to their more aristocratic neighbors. I loved this whole Scandals series!
Girl Next Door is a solid B for me – liked it just a tad better.
Linden is great tho.
Ooh, ‘Her Lady’s Honor’ sounds great. Yay sales!
It Takes a Scandal by Caroline Linden is one of my most favorite books of all time. It really had some of the most romantic dialog I’ve read. Love. It.
