3 Contemporaries & a Historical Romance

  • The Boyfriend Project

The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon

The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon is $3.99! Maya reviewed this one and wasn’t quite sold on the hero. However, if you’ve been waiting for this to have a reduction in price, now’s the time to grab it! I’m excited to see what’s next for Rochon and her contemporary romances.

USA Today bestselling author Farrah Rochon launches a new series about three young women who become friends when the live Tweeting of a disastrous date leads them to discover they’ve all been duped by the same man.

Samiah Brooks never thought she would be “that” girl. But a live tweet of a horrific date just revealed the painful truth: she’s been catfished by a three-timing jerk of a boyfriend. Suddenly Samiah-along with his two other “girlfriends,” London and Taylor — have gone viral online. Now the three new besties are making a pact to spend the next six months investing in themselves. No men, no dating, and no worrying about their relationship status . . .

For once Samiah is putting herself first, and that includes finally developing the app she’s always dreamed of creating. Which is the exact moment she meets the deliciously sexy, honey-eyed Daniel Collins at work. What are the chances? When it comes to love, there’s no such thing as a coincidence. But is Daniel really boyfriend material or is he maybe just a little too good to be true?

  • Dream Maker

    Dream Maker by Kristen Ashley

Dream Maker by Kristen Ashley is $2.99! This book released in May and is the first in a new series. I’m very curious about the heroine, who takes up erotic dancing to help pay for her engineering degree. I’m all for more positive representations of sex work, though Ashley’s books don’t always work for me. Have you read this one?

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Dream Man and Rock Chick series comes a brand new story about love, friendship, and the bonds of sisterhood.

Evie is a bonafide nerd and a hyper-intelligent chick who has worked her whole life to get what she wants. Growing up, she had no support from her family and has only ever been able to rely on herself. So when Evie decides she wants to earn her engineering degree, she realizes she needs to take an alternative path to get there. She takes a job dancing at Smithie’s club thinking this would be a quick side gig, where she can make the money she needs. But with her lack of dancing skills and an alpha bad boy who becomes overly protective, Evie realizes this might not be as easy as she thought.

Daniel “Mag” Magnusson knows a thing or two about pain, but the mask he wears is excellent. No one can tell that this good-looking, quick-witted, and roguish guy has deep-seated issues. Mag puts on a funny-guy routine so he can hide his broken heart and PTSD. But when Evie dances her way into Mag’s life, he realizes that he needs to come face-to-face with the demons of his past if he wants a future with her.

  • American Sweethearts

    American Sweethearts by Adriana Herrera

American Sweethearts by Adriana Herrera is $1.99! This is book four in the Dreamers contemporary romance series. Herrera’s romances have been reviewed favorably on the site and have often been featured in Hide Your Wallet. Are you a Herrera fan?

Juan Pablo Campos doesn’t do regrets. He’s living the dream as a physical therapist for his beloved New York Yankees. He has the best friends and family in the world and simply no time to dwell on what could’ve been.

Except when it comes to Priscilla, the childhood friend he’s loved for what seems like forever.

New York City police detective Priscilla Gutierrez has never been afraid to go after what she wants. Second-guessing herself isn’t a thing she does. But lately, the once-clear vision she had for herself—her career, her relationships, her life—is no longer what she wants.

What she especially doesn’t want is to be stuck on a private jet to the Dominican Republic with JuanPa, the one person who knows her better than anyone else.

By the end of a single week in paradise, the love/hate thing JuanPa and Pris have been doing for sixteen years has risen to epic proportions. No one can argue their connection is still there. And they can both finally admit—if only to themselves—they’ve always been a perfect match. The future they dreamed of together is still within reach…if they can just accept each other as they are.

  • What a Wicked Earl Wants

What a Wicked Earl Wants by Vicky Dreiling

What a Wicked Earl Wants by Vicky Dreiling is $1.99! This is the first book in the Sinful Scoundrels series and features a widow with a stepson, which I feel like is something we don’t see too often in historical romance. Or maybe I’m wrong.

    WILL A RAKE’S WICKED WAYS

Andrew Carrington, Earl of Bellingham, believes in being a gentleman, whether it’s fishing a soggy stranger out of the Thames or assisting a fetching lady into his bed. If the stranger becomes a friend and the lady a mistress, all the better. He certainly welcomes the opportunity to help Laura Davenport, a dazzling young widow with a rebellious stepson. Her gratitude, he hopes, will take an amorous form. But from the moment he sets foot in her drawing room, he gets far more than he bargained for…

    LEAD THE LADY ASTRAY?

It was a moment of desperation. On the brink of losing her stepson, Laura turned to the notorious Lord Bellingham for help. Suddenly she, a vicar’s daughter, is in the precarious position of resisting his tantalizing advances. How Bell earned his wicked reputation is clear; the surprise is how much more there is to him than the gossip sheets could possibly reveal. Now every moment with this dangerously desirable man puts Laura’s good name at risk-and promises pleasure unlike any she has ever known…

  1. DiscoDollyDeb says:

Ruth Cardello’s THE BROKEN ONE is a KDD for $1.99 today. I enjoyed this story of a widower locked in a cycle of sorrow and complicated grief. He blames himself for his wife’s death and feels he would betray her memory by falling in love again (that aspect of the plot reminded me of one of my all-time favorite romances, Melanie Harlow’s AFTER WE FALL). He grows close to a single mom when he finds her daughter’s lost stuffed animal. Angsty heartache and passion ahead!

  2. Lisa F says:

American Sweethearts is fantastic, if you don’t have it I recommend it.

  3. Loved The Boyfriend Project and American Sweethearts!

  4. Pear says:

I really liked The Boyfriend Project! Samiah is a delight and I look forward to preordering the books about her friends when those are ready!

Spoiler-y, but I wonder if my acceptance of the hero’s decision relates to knowing a lot of people with security clearances, which was not a normal thing in my life until I moved to DC.

  5. Janine says:

I liked Dream Maker, but there’s not a lot about Evie’s dancing job in it…most of the plot revolves around her dealings with her very messy family, and the scenes at the club focus on her friendships with the other dancers. However, it’s the first in a series and I have a feeling later books will delve deeper…for Evie the job is one of several part-time gigs but some of the other characters pursue it as more of a full-time job. My main objection was that the author seemed to include practically every character from every book she’s ever written (I guess to bring readers over from the other series?) and I didn’t care about 75% of them.
