Paradise Cove

Paradise Cove by Jenny Holiday is $1.99! This is the second book in the Matchmaker Bay series. We’ve heard good things about it and Aarya mentioned it on a Hide Your Wallet over the summer. Have you read it?
From the USA Today bestselling “master of witty banter” (Entertainment Weekly) comes a hilarious and heartwarming romance about a big city girl who never expected to find the man of her dreams in the tiny town of Matchmaker Bay.
Dr. Nora Walsh has just been dumped in spectacular fashion, making it the perfect time for a major life change. She figures taking over the medical practice in tiny Matchmaker Bay for a couple of years will help her get over her broken heart, and then she can head back to the big city. But when the first man she sees looks like a superhero god, she wonders if maybe there’s something to small-town living after all.Jake Ramsey also has a broken heart — one he never expects to heal. He doesn’t need people anyway and is content hiding out in his secluded cottage on the beach. But after helping Nora with a medical emergency, he finds himself opening up to the witty, warmhearted doctor. Soon the local matchmakers are working overtime to pair them off, and Jake begins to wonder if his campaign to get Nora to stay is for the town or because he can’t bear the thought of her leaving.

The Lie and the Lady by Kate Noble is $1.99! This is the second book in the Winner Takes All series, but it can be read as a standalone. Some readers were on the fence about the heroine’s fortune-hunting personality, but others suggest being patient with the book and the characters will eventually win you over. Have you read this one?
Following The Game and the Governess comes the second novel in the witty, sexy Winner Takes All series of Regency romances from Kate Noble, the writer behind the wildly popular, award-winning web series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.
Clerk John Turner thought only of winning a bet when he switched places with his friend, Lord Edward Granville, at a country house party. But while posing as a lord, he fell for a lady—the Countess Letitia! Now she’s learned the truth, and he must win her back as plain John Turner. He’d better hope that love truly conquers all…
Lady Letty was publicly humiliated when it came out that she had fallen for the man, not the master. When she meets him again, she’s determined to avoid him, but some things are too intoxicating to be denied. Letty knows what choice she must make to survive, but if she turns her back on her dashing rogue—again—will she lose her chance at love forever?

The Earl I Ruined by Scarlett Peckham is 99c! The first and third book in this series have been on sale in the last few months, so if you’ve been waiting for the second to have a price-drop, now is your chance! I think after this series, Peckham became an auto-buy author for a lot of us.
She’s beautiful, rich, and reckless…
When Lady Constance Stonewell accidentally ruins the Earl of Apthorp’s entire future with her gossip column, she does what any honorable young lady must: offer her hand in marriage. Or, at the very least, stage a whirlwind fake engagement to repair his reputation. Never mind that it means spending a month with the dullest man in England. Or the fact that he disapproves of everything she holds dear.
He’s supposedly the most boring politician in the House of Lords…
Julian Haywood, the Earl of Apthorp, is on the cusp of finally proving himself to be the man he’s always wanted to be when his future is destroyed in a single afternoon. When the woman he’s secretly in love confesses she’s at fault, it isn’t just his life that is shattered: it’s his heart.
They have a month to clear his name and convince society they are madly in love…
But when Constance discovers her faux-intended is decidedly more than meets the eye—not to mention adept at shocking forms of wickedness—she finds herself falling for him.
There’s only one problem: he can’t forgive her for breaking his heart.

Pretending He’s Mine by Mia Sosa is $2.99! This is a contemporary romance with a fake relationship and off-limits heroine. Readers really enjoyed the hero and heroine, but some wanted more conflict keeping them from a relationship. It has a 3.7-star rating on Goodreads.
Mia Sosa returns with another fun, flirty romance in her critically-acclaimed Love on Cue series!
For Hollywood agent Julian Hart, representing his best friend—megastar Carter Williamson—means it’s nearly impossible to keep his personal life and career separate. To make matters worse, Carter’s younger sister has been starring in Julian’s wildest fantasies more often than he’d care to admit. He knows she’s off-limits, but when Ashley shows up on his doorstep, needing a place to crash… suddenly his greatest temptation is sleeping down the hall.
Free-spirited Ashley Williamson doesn’t do commitment. Jobs, apartments, men… why let herself be tied down? But she’s had a crush on her older brother’s best friend for years and she’s committed to making Julian want her, one towel-clad midnight encounter at a time. But just as things start heating up, their steamy flirtation is interrupted by Carter’s east coast wedding. Ashley has no desire to go home and face her reputation as the family disappointment. But living with—dare she say dating?—a successful, sexy film agent could give them something else to talk about.
Julian can’t believe he agreed to fake a relationship with the one woman he can never have. And it’s going to take more than a little willpower to remember it’s all pretend. Or is it?

My heart has been broken and I’m over love. OVER IT! Do you hear? No more romance for me! Oh, and I’m moving away to get a fresh start. What’s that? Where am I going? Uh, some place called Matchmaker Bay. No way my plan can fail there. NO WAY!
I adored Paradise Cove, even more than the first book in the series, Mermaid Inn. This one is more angsty than the first book with a CW for death of a child in the hero’s backstory, but it also has a lovely friendships between the main characters and others in town and a good balance of lighter moments to balance out the heavier ones.
I’m off to download a sample of The Earl I Ruined. I loved The Duke I Tempted.
Oh, and while I’m at it, might as well download a sample of Pretending He’s Mine also since I recently read and enjoyed The Worst Best Man by this author. My one-click finger may end up getting a bit of a workout today! Gotta do something to distract myself from current events.
I haven’t tried the Noble yet, but the Peckham and the Holiday are both worth it.
All four of Lila Bowen’s Shadow series are $1.99 (each). I don’t know if that’s normal or not, but seeing it made me realize I never finished the quadrilogy, so I’m off to read book 3 and 4.
