  • Unveiled

    Unveiled by Courtney Milan

Unveiled by Courtney Milan – enhanced edition – is 99c! This is the first book in Milan’s Turner series. The enhanced ebook version features pictures and audio in addition to the text. Some readers expressed that they found the first half of the book on the slow side, but many agree it’s completely worth pushing through those first few chapters.

Ash Turner has waited a lifetime to seek revenge on the man who ruined his family – and now the time for justice has arrived. At Parford Manor, he intends to take his place as the rightful heir to the dukedom and settle an old score with the current duke once and for all. But instead he finds himself drawn to a tempting beauty who has the power to undo all his dreams of vengeance….

Lady Margaret knows she should despise the man who’s stolen her fortune and her father’s legacy – the man she’s been ordered to spy on in the guise of a nurse. Yet the more she learns about the new duke, the less she can resist his smoldering appeal. Soon Margaret and Ash find themselves torn between old loyalties – and the tantalizing promise of passion….

  • The Wicked Wallflower

The Wicked Wallflower by Maya Rodale

The Wicked Wallflower by Maya Rodale is $2.99! This is a historical romance that’s part of Rodale’s Bad Boys & Wallflowers series. The hero and heroine have a pretend engagement. Elyse reviewed the book and wound up giving it a C-, though Goodreads reviews says this is a series that gets better with each book:

I liked how Blake and Emma finally come together in the end, but getting there was a little rocky. The Wicked Wallflower wasn’t a bad book by any means, but with so many Regencies out there, it failed to stand out from the rest of the pack.

Lady Emma Avery has accidentally announced her engagement—to the most eligible man in England. As soon as it’s discovered that Emma has never actually met the infamously attractive Duke of Ashbrooke, she’ll no longer be a wallflower; she’ll be a laughingstock. And then Ashbrooke does something Emma never expected. He plays along with her charade.

A temporary betrothal to the irreproachable Lady Avery could be just the thing to repair Ashbrooke’s tattered reputation. Seducing her is simply a bonus. And then Emma does what he never expected: she refuses his advances. It’s unprecedented. Inconceivable. Quite damnably alluring.

London’s Least Likely to Misbehave has aroused the curiosity—among other things—of London’s most notorious rogue. Now nothing will suffice but to uncover Emma’s wanton side and prove there’s nothing so satisfying as two perfect strangers…being perfectly scandalous together.

  • Jade City

    Jade City by Fonda Lee

Jade City by Fonda Lee is $2.99! This adult fantasy novel incredibly violent, according to reviews. But readers loved the world building and threads of mythology weaved into the story. To be honest, the book sounds intense and awesome. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.

JADE CITY is a gripping Godfather-esque saga of intergenerational blood feuds, vicious politics, magic, and kungfu.

The Kaul family is one of two crime syndicates that control the island of Kekon. It’s the only place in the world that produces rare magical jade, which grants those with the right training and heritage superhuman abilities.

The Green Bone clans of honorable jade-wearing warriors once protected the island from foreign invasion–but nowadays, in a bustling post-war metropolis full of fast cars and foreign money, Green Bone families like the Kauls are primarily involved in commerce, construction, and the everyday upkeep of the districts under their protection.

When the simmering tension between the Kauls and their greatest rivals erupts into open violence in the streets, the outcome of this clan war will determine the fate of all Green Bones and the future of Kekon itself.

  • The Iron Wyrm Affair

The Iron Wyrm Affair by Lilith Saintcrow

The Iron Wyrm Affair by Lilith Saintcrow is 99c! On a personal note, I loved her Jill Kismet urban fantasy series. This is the first book in the Bannon & Clare series and is more urban fantasy steampunk than a romance. Readers warn that it’s a shaky start to a good series, as the books do keep getting better and better. Any members of the Bitchery care to weigh in?

Archibald Clare is a detective of truly uncanny abilities—a mentath, capable of feats of deduction and logic that border on the supernatural. He is also abruptly, uniquely, the only unregistered mentath left alive in Londoninium. Someone has murdered the others and, if not for the timely intervention of the Prime sorceress Emma Bannon, there would have been no one left to stop… whatever is coming.

Mentaths and sorcerers are dying—or worse, being seduced into betraying Queen and Country. Bannon and Clare must uncover treachery, conspiracy, and sorcery of the blackest hue. And in a Britannia where magic has turned the Industrial Revolution on its head, time is short.

    The game is afoot…

  1. Darlynne says:

JADE CITY is a gripping Godfather-esque saga of intergenerational blood feuds, vicious politics, magic, and kungfu. This may be the most on-target one-sentence summary I’ve ever seen. I enjoyed JADE CITY very much without having any idea of the above. It’s not a comfort read, however, but the world-building is well done.

  2. Stefanie Magura says:

Courtney Milan’s Proof By Seduction and Trial by Desire are each $1.99 right now on Amazon. I don’t think they are enhanced, but you can get the boxed set of the whole series they are in enhanced.

  3. Stefanie Magura says:

Also, all of Isabel Cooper’s Dawn of the Highland Dragon books look to be on sale. The first book is $1.99, the second book is $2.99, and the third book is $0.99.

  4. Carrie G says:

This Jill Kismet omnibus with what looks like the complete series is $2.99 on Amazon.

It looks like Book 2 and 3 of the Bannon and Clare series are also on sale,.99 and 1.99 respectively.

  6. Qualisign says:

“Simple Jess” by Pamela Morsi is free at Amazon! Loved this book.

  7. MaryK says:

Pamela Morsi has several books in KU.

  8. MaryK says:

From the reviews, the Jill Kismet series is probably too much for me. She’s got two other series classified as fantasy romances, the Romances of Arquitaine and The Watchers. Anybody familiar with those?

  9. Karin says:

I already own Unveiled, but I would buy it twice if Amazon let me.

  10. Lisa F says:

I liked the Rodale better than Elyse did, but I agree that the series definitely gets better as time goes on.

I don’t have that Milan, so yoink!

  11. WS says:

I bought and read the Maya Rodale book after this link, and, oh, was that an error. C- is much too generous. Anachronisms ahoy— I was unable to accept this as a historical. Or plausibly involving the British aristocracy. Worse still, it was so deeply boring. (I can suspend disbelief, but I need to want to do that.). Stunned this came out of a major publishing house. Never reading another of her books.
