  • Hurts to Love You

Hurts to Love You by Alisha Rai

RECOMMENDHurts to Love You by Alisha Rai is $3.99! This is the third book in the Forbidden Hearts series. It’ll probably behoove you to read the previous books (the previous one is also on sale!), as this one does wrap up some things. Elyse wrote a Lightning Review for this one and gave it a B+.

Being bad never felt so good, in the third novel in Alisha Rai’s sexy Forbidden Hearts series!

Well-behaved women don’t lust after men who love to misbehave.

Heiress Evangeline Chandler knows how to keep a secret . . . like her life-long crush on the tattooed hottie who just happens to be her big brother’s friend. She’s a Chandler, after all, and Chandlers don’t hook up with the help. Then again, they also don’t disobey their fathers and quit their respectable jobs, so good-girl rules may no longer apply.

Gabriel Hunter hides the pain of his past behind a smile, but he can’t hide his sudden attraction to his friend’s sheltered little sister. Eve is far too sweet to accept anything less than forever and there’s no chance of a future between the son of a housekeeper and the town’s resident princess.

When a wedding party forces Eve and Gabe into tight quarters, keeping their hands off each other will be as hard as keeping their clothes on. The need that draws them together is stronger than the forces that should shove them apart . . . but their sparks may not survive the explosion when long-buried secrets are finally unearthed.

  • Hardwired

    Hardwired by Meredith Wild

Hardwired by Meredith Wild is $1.99! This is book 1 of the Hackers series, is BDSM-flavored erotic romance, and it has a 4-star average. I haven’t read anything by Wild in a while, but if I remember, her heroes are reminiscent of Christian Grey. Take that as you will.

Determined to overcome a difficult past, Erica Hathaway learns early on how to make it on her own. Days after her college graduation she finds herself face to face with a panel of investors who will make or break her fledgling startup. The only thing she didn’t prepare for was going weak in the knees over an arrogant and gorgeous investor who’s seemingly determined to derail her presentation.

Billionaire and rumored hacker Blake Landon has already made his fortune in software, and he’s used to getting what he wants with very little resistance. Captivated by Erica’s drive and unassuming beauty, he’s wanted nothing more since she stepped into his boardroom. Determined to win her over, he breaks down her defenses and fights for her trust, even if that means sacrificing a level of control he’s grown accustomed to.

But when Blake uncovers a dark secret from Erica’s past, he threatens not just her trust, but the life she’s fought so hard to create.

  • The Summer of Jordi Perez (And the Best Burger in Los Angeles)

The Summer of Jordi Perez (And the Best Burger in Los Angeles) by Amy Spalding

RECOMMENDED: The Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy Spalding is $1.99! Carrie reviewed this one earlier this year and gave it a B+:

The Summer of Jodi Perez (And the Best Burger in Los Angeles) is a body-positive f/f contemporary romance/rom-com set in L.A. This book is a light, fast read with plenty of humor, and with an angst level that is appropriate but never too heavy or whiny.

Seventeen, fashion-obsessed, and gay, Abby Ives has always been content playing the sidekick in other people’s lives. While her friends and sister have plunged headfirst into the world of dating and romances, Abby’s been happy to focus on her plus-size style blog and her dreams of taking the fashion industry by storm. When she lands a great internship at her favorite boutique, she’s thrilled to take the first step toward her dream career. Then she falls for her fellow intern, Jordi Perez. Hard. And now she’s competing against the girl she’s kissing to win the coveted paid job at the end of the internship.

But really, nothing this summer is going as planned. She’s also unwittingly become friends with Jax, a lacrosse-playing bro-type who wants her help finding the best burger in L.A.; she’s struggling to prove to her mother—the city’s celebrity health nut—that she’s perfectly content with who she is; and she’s desperately trying to remain behind the scenes and off-camera where she feels she belongs, when she hangs out with Jordi, who documents her entire life in photographs.

Though crazy, summer’s been fun, and just as Abby starts to feel like she’s no longer the sidekick in her own life anymore, Jordi’s photography surprisingly puts her in the spotlight for the first time, and it feels more like a betrayal rather than a starring role. Can Abby find a way to reconcile her positive yet private sense of self with the image that other people have of her?

  • The Lady Traveler’s Guide to Scoundrels and Other Gentlemen

The Lady Traveler’s Guide to Scoundrels and Other Gentlemen by Victoria Alexander

The Lady Travelers Guide to Scoundrels and Other Gentlemen by Victoria Alexander is $1.99! This is the first book in the Lady Travelers Society series and it has, you guessed it, lady travelers. Readers say the plot takes a while to pick up, but others say this historical romance is both sweet and funny.

Embark on the breathtaking romantic adventures of The Lady Travelers Society in the brand-new series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Victoria Alexander

Really, it’s too much to expect any normal man to behave like a staid accountant in order to inherit the fortune he deserves to support the lifestyle of an earl. So when Derek Saunders’s favorite elderly aunt and her ill-conceived—and possibly fraudulent—Lady Travelers Society loses one of their members, what’s a man to do but step up to the challenge? Now he’s escorting the world’s most maddening woman to the world’s most romantic city to find her missing relative.

While India Prendergast only suspects his organization defrauds gullible travelers, she’s certain a man with as scandalous a reputation as Derek Saunders cannot be trusted any farther than the distance around his very broad shoulders. As she struggles not to be distracted by his wicked smile and the allure of Paris, instead of finding a lost lady traveler, India just may lose her head, her luggage and her heart.

  1. DiscoDollyDeb says:

Also KDD for $1.99 today is the 1967 erotic classic, EMMANUELLE, by Emmanuelle Arsan. For you young whipper-snappers, EMMANUELLE was less well-known as a book than for spawning a series of soft-core erotic movies in the 1970s. Ah, it was such an innocent time.

  2. Darlynne says:

@DDD: I remember it well, earthshaking back in the day.

  3. FashionablyEvil says:

Alisha Rai’s Forbidden Hearts series was what really got me back into reading romance several years back. It’s soapy and sexy and witty and I love all of the books in the series. (I also love how she wrote parts of the series in a Wegmans—the series features a family-run grocery chain that definitely resembles Wegmans.)

  4. Rachel says:

The Lady Traveler’s Guide was the first historical romance I ever read, (and I had only read 1-2 contemporaries before that). It was sweet, funny, and very engaging. This was my gateway into Tessa Dare, Courtney Milan, Lisa Kleypas and lots of others, and my large and growing romance TBR pile shows that it was definitely a good place to start!
