  • Royal Holiday

    Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory

RECOMMENDED: Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory is $1.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals. Maya loved this one and gave it an A:

In the end, this story is overwhelmingly about saying yes to good things put directly in your path. If all you want to do is wrap yourself up in a Christmas love story with two adults just admirably adulting all the way through the book, I say grab a Christmas sweater and a hot chocolate, and get ready to have a stranger ask you why you look so happy reading the book you have in your hand!

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Proposal and “rising star in the romance genre” (Entertainment Weekly) comes a dazzling new novel about a spontaneous holiday vacation that turns into an unforgettable romance.

Vivian Forest has been out of the country a grand total of one time, so when she gets the chance to tag along on her daughter Maddie’s work trip to England to style a royal family member, she can’t refuse. She’s excited to spend the holidays taking in the magnificent British sights, but what she doesn’t expect is to become instantly attracted to a certain private secretary, his charming accent, and unyielding formality.

Malcolm Hudson has worked for the Queen for years and has never given a personal, private tour—until now. He is intrigued by Vivian the moment he meets her and finds himself making excuses just to spend time with her. When flirtatious banter turns into a kiss under the mistletoe, things snowball into a full-on fling.

Despite a ticking timer on their holiday romance, they are completely fine with ending their short, steamy affair come New Year’s Day. . .or are they?

  • Miss Wonderful

    Miss Wonderful by Loretta Chase

Miss Wonderful by Loretta Chase is 99c! This is the first book in the Carsington Brothers series, which I know is beloved here. This deal could expire soon because I think I saw it in the KDDs a few days ago. Which book in the series is your favorite? Do you think they hold up?

Alistair Carsington really wishes he didn’t love women quite so much. To escape his worst impulses, he sets out for a place far from civilization: Derbyshire – in winter!

Once there, he hopes to avoid all temptation, and repay the friend who saved his life on the fields of Waterloo. But this noble aim drops him straight into opposition with Miss Mirabel Oldridge, a woman every bit as intelligent, obstinate, and devious as he – and maddeningly irresistible.

Mirabel Oldridge already has her hands full keeping her brilliant and aggravatingly eccentric father out of trouble.

The last thing she needs is a stunningly attractive and overbright aristocrat reminding her she has a heart – not to mention a body he claims is so stylishly clothed that undressing her is practically a civic duty.

  • A Most Unlikely Duke

A Most Unlikely Duke by Sophie Barnes

A Most Unlikely Duke by Sophie Barnes is $3.99! This is the first book in the Diamonds in the Rough historical romance series and the next two books are also $3.99. Carrie read this one and gave it a B:

I loved this book for its lovely use of language, its focus on the problems of both the lower and upper classes, the incredibly likeable characters, and the affirming, sexy, sweet romance.

He never thought he’d become a duke, or that the secrets of his past would cost him his greatest love…

Raphe Matthews hasn’t stepped foot in polite circles since a tragedy left his once-noble family impoverished and in debt. The bare-knuckle boxer has spent the last fifteen years eking out an existence for himself and his two sisters. But when a stunning reversal of fortune lands Raphe the title of Duke of Huntley, he’s determined to make a go of becoming a proper lord, but he’ll need a little help, and his captivating neighbor might be just the woman for the job…

After her sister’s scandalous match, Lady Gabriella knows the ton’s eyes are on her. Agreeing to tutor the brutish new duke can only lead to ruin. Although she tries to control her irresistible attraction to Raphe, every day she spends with him only deepens her realization that this may be the one man she cannot do without. And as scandal threatens to envelop them both, she must decide if she can risk everything for love with a most unlikely duke.

  • Perky

    Perky by Julia Kent

Perky by Julia Kent is 99c! This is a standalone contemporary romance and the second in a series. Now obviously, I can understand why you wouldn’t want to grab this one: revenge porn + a politician hero, but it could also be up another reader’s alley and I’m not here to judge.

One hundred years ago when I was young and impulsive (okay, it was five, alright? Five years ago…) I let my boyfriend take, let’s just say… compromising pictures of me.

(Shut up. It made sense at the time.)

Surprise! The sleazy back-stabbing jerk posted them on a website and, well, you can guess what happened. That’s right.

    I’m a meme. A really gross one.

You’ve seen the pictures. And if you haven’t – don’t ask. And don’t look!

As face recognition software online improves, I get tagged on social media whenever anyone shares my pictures. You try getting a thousand notifications a day, all of them pictures of your tatas.

    So. I’m done.

It’s time for revenge. Let him see how it feels! But how do you get embarrassingly intimate pictures of your jerkface ex who double-crossed you five years ago?

Especially when he’s a member of the U.S. House of Representatives now?

Getting sweet between the sheets with a congressman is pretty much every political roadie’s dream, right? I’m one in a crowd.

Except to this day, he swears he didn’t do it. Pursued me for months after I dumped him five years ago. Begged me to take him back.

And I almost did it. Almost. I was weak and stupid and in love a hundred years ago.

    Okay. Fine. Five.

But I still have the upper hand. Second chance romance has all the emotional feels, doesn’t it?

I can’t wait to punch him in the feels.

All I need to do is sleep with him once, take some hot-and-sweaty pics of him in… delicate positions, and bring him down. That’s it. Nothing more.

Pictures first. Revenge after. And then I win.

At least, that’s how it was supposed to happen. But then I did something worse than sexting.

I fell in love with him. Again.

    Amanda, I loved your comment:

You never judge, and also rightly–for me–figured some of us would react with “ugh.”

Your daily Books on Sale, along with my Amazon and library wishlists, are getting me through 2020. Along with bags of Trader Joe’s Bamba, I remain hopeful. Thank you.

  2. @Amanda says:

@Darlynne: Your comment made my day! I hope you’ve been able to find some good books lately and that your bag of Bamba is extra delicious today.

  3. JenM says:

Another huge thumbs up, Amanda. Honestly, I get so excited every morning at 9AM because I know I’m getting the daily digest and your Books on Sale post.

Also wanted to note a couple of other sales. Jennifer Estep’s Sharpest Sting is a Kindle Daily Deal for $0.99 today. In addition, I just got the email from Tor Books on their monthly free bookclub read. It’s Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh. This is a m/m novella and I know it’s been mentioned a few times because I’ve had it on a watch list after hearing about it here. I’d include the link but I’m pretty clueless about HTML and don’t know how to embed it in my reply. Hopefully someone else can help out with that.

All four of these have their merits, but Royal Holiday takes my proverbial cake!

  6. Bunnifur says:

I found Lucy Parker’s Headliners on kindle for $1.99 and grabbed it. Hurray for wish lists! I know Parker is a big favorite around here so I thought I’d share. Also, The Prince and the Dressmaker, another book recommended here ages ago, dropped to $2.99, also on kindle. That’s next on my buy list, together with the Guillory; I already own today’s Loretta Chase.

  7. JenM says:

Thanks @Bunnifur! I’ve been waiting for a sale on Headliners. Since I’d been waiting for Royal Holiday also, my one-clicker is getting quite the workout today.

  8. Laura says:

Royal Holiday–again I need to take off my Judgy Hat. I saw the cover and was meh because blerge overly twee Christmas romances are at the bottom of my favorite things list. BUT characters who are of a certain age are a favorite element.

  9. Susan/DC says:

Just one small correction: Mirabel is so UNstylishly clothed that undressing her is almost a civic duty. The book is a lovely start to the Carsington series. Not only do we get Mirabel and Alistair, but we are introduced to his parents, who dearly love their son but feel that he is a bit of a lost soul who needs help to find a way to give meaning to his life rather than just coast on good looks and charm. There is a scene where he is ill and Mirabel nurses him. She chides him for his making the effort to be courteous when he is so sick, and he replies that charm comes naturally to him so it is no effort. Chase shows that he is not bragging when he says this but is, in fact, being self-deprecating because he feels he shouldn’t be praised for something that comes all too easily to him. I’m inordinately fond of the book and a little bit in love with Alistair (and his charm and wit).
