  • Dragon Storm

    Dragon Storm by Katie MacAlister

Dragon Storm by Katie MacAlister is $1.99! This is part of the Dragon Fall series and, as you could have guessed, features a dragon hero. I feel like MacAlister is a YMMV author. The tone is too over the top for me, but it may work for some people to have some goofy paranormal romance right now.

    TURN ON THE CHARM

According to some (including himself), Constantine is one of the greatest heroes of dragonkin who ever lived. Too bad he’s now lonelier than ever and his biggest adventure involves a blow-up sheep-until he has an opportunity to save his kind once again. All Constantine has to do is break into a demon’s dungeon, steal an ancient artifact, and reverse a deadly curse. The plan certainly does not involve rescuing a woman . . .

    TURN UP THE HEAT

Bee isn’t sure whether to be infuriated or relieved when Constantine pops up in her prison. The broody, brawny shifter lights her fire in a way no one ever has before, yet how far can she really trust him? Their chemistry may be off the charts, but when push comes to shove, Constantine will have to make a crucial choice: to save the dragons or the woman he’s grown to love with fierce intensity.

  • Dirty Magic

    Dirty Magic by Jaye Wells

Dirty Magic by Jaye Wells is $1.99! This is book one in the Propero’s War urban fantasy series. Some readers warn that they couldn’t put this book down, while others felt the action was bogged down by worldbuilding. This book has a 3.7-star rating on Goodreads.

The last thing patrol cop Kate Prospero expected to find on her nightly rounds was a werewolf covered in the blood of his latest victim. But then, she also didn’t expect that shooting him would land her in the crosshairs of a Magic Enforcement Agency task force, who wants to know why she killed their lead snitch.

The more Prospero learns about the dangerous new potion the MEA is investigating, the more she’s convinced that earning a spot on their task force is the career break she’s been wanting. But getting the assignment proves much easier than solving the case. Especially once the investigation reveals their lead suspect is the man she walked away from ten years earlier—on the same day she swore she’d never use dirty magic again.

Kate Prospero’s about to learn the hard way that crossing a wizard will always get you burned, and that when it comes to magic, you should be never say never.

  • Jill Kismet: The Complete Series

Jill Kismet: The Complete Series by Lilith Saintcrow

Jill Kismet: The Complete Series by Lilith Saintcrow is $2.99! This set collects all six books in the Jill Kismet urban fantasy series. It’s been a long time since I read these and I don’t think I finished, but I believe there’s a romantic arc. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Not everyone can take on the things that go bump in the night.

    Not everyone tries.

But Jill Kismet is not just anyone.

She’s a Hunter, trained by the best — and in over her head.

    Welcome to the night shift…

  • An Heiress at Heart

An Heiress at Heart by Jennifer Delamere

An Heiress at Heart by Jennifer Delamere is $1.99! This is the first book in the Love’s Grace historical romance series. I believe this is an inspie and I’m unsure how the heroine can successfully pose as her late friend. However, the covers in this series are gorgeous and subsequent ones are also on sale.

    A New Beginning

A youthful indiscretion has cost Lizzie Poole more than just her honor. After five years living in exile, she’s finally returning home, but she’s still living a secret life. Her best friend, Ria’s dying wish was for Lizzie to assume her identity, return to London, and make amends that Ria herself would never live to make. Bearing a striking resemblance to her friend, and harboring more secrets than ever before, Lizzie embarks on a journey that tempts her reckless heart once again . . .

A committed clergyman, Geoffrey Somerville’s world is upended when he suddenly inherits the title of Lord Somerville. Now he’s invited to every ball and sought after by the matchmaking mothers of London society. Yet the only woman to capture his heart is the one he cannot have: his brother’s young widow, Ria. Duty demands he deny his feelings, but his heart longs for the mysterious beauty. With both their futures at stake, will Lizzie be able to keep up her façade? Or will she find the strength to share her secret and put her faith in true love?

  1. Ren Benton says:

The tattoo on the MacAlister cover looks like he’s been peeled down to the muscle, which is… upsetting.

I read several of her dragon books eons ago and will forever remember the heroine who tentatively patted the hero’s erection like it was a dog she was unsure of, if that’s a helpful measure of the silliness level.

  2. MommaTom says:

Ren Benton- That is exactly what I thought!!(About the tattoo on the cover)

The other bit is pretty hilarious too!!

  3. Laura says:

An Heiress At Heart was a great book despite suspending belief two friends were that identical.

  4. Pat says:

“His Wayward Bride” by Theresa Romain is on sale at Amazon & BN for $.99, book 3 in her Romance of the Turf series.

  5. DonnaMarie says:

I must say that I enjoy MacAlister’s Aiiling Grey and dragon books quite a bit. Drake cleavage diving & coming up gold drunk whenever he scents Aisling’s necklace is hysterical. But that’s just me.

My mileage varied quite a bit with the vampire series. Just didn’t work for me.

  6. kitkat9000 says:

@DonnaMarie: Are the Aisling Grey, Guardian books the ones with a (minor?) demon in the body/shape of a Newfoundland dog? I remember the original series as being quite funny but didn’t care as much for the rest of the dragon books and stopped after reading 4 or 5.

I read the Dark Ones vampire books years ago from when they first came out until about 2005 or so… and remember nothing.

Still though, to this day, her The Trouble With Harry (Noble series #3) is one of the funniest books I’ve ever read but you must like extreme silliness or else the book will grate on your nerves.

Some of MacAlister’s other books are also quite funny, either the Half Moon Hollow series or the one-offs like the Corset Diaries or Men in Kilts. I’ve not read her other series yet, so it looks like I’ll be binging soon.

I wish my library would reopen… I mean, I understand why they haven’t but miss them so much.
