  • The Worst Best Man

The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa

The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa is $1.99! This, according to Amazon, is a limited time deal. Grab it while you can! It released in February and was recommended by Aarya in our Ready, Set, Go: Funny Romances post. Have you read it?

Critically acclaimed author Mia Sosa delivers a sassy, steamy enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy about a wedding planner whose new job opportunity forces her to work side-by-side with the best man who ruined her own nuptials: her ex-fiancé’s infuriating, irritating, annoyingly handsome brother. Perfect for fans of Jasmine Guillory, Helen Hoang, and Sally Thorne!

A wedding planner left at the altar. Yeah, the irony isn’t lost on Carolina Santos, either. But despite that embarrassing blip from her past, Lina’s managed to make other people’s dreams come true as a top-tier wedding coordinator in DC. After impressing an influential guest, she’s offered an opportunity that could change her life. There’s just one hitch… she has to collaborate with the best (make that worst) man from her own failed nuptials.

Tired of living in his older brother’s shadow, marketing expert Max Hartley is determined to make his mark with a coveted hotel client looking to expand its brand. Then he learns he’ll be working with his brother’s whip-smart, stunning—absolutely off-limits—ex-fiancée. And she loathes him.

If they can survive the next few weeks and nail their presentation without killing each other, they’ll both come out ahead. Except Max has been public enemy number one ever since he encouraged his brother to jilt the bride, and Lina’s ready to dish out a little payback of her own.

But even the best laid plans can go awry, and soon Lina and Max discover animosity may not be the only emotion creating sparks between them. Still, this star-crossed couple can never be more than temporary playmates because Lina isn’t interested in falling in love and Max refuses to play runner-up to his brother ever again…

  • Forever Wolf

    Forever Wolf by Maria Vale

SERIES SALEForever Wolf by Maria Vale is $2.99! I love this series and this is the last book in the trilogy. Vale does some inventive things with werewolf/shifter mythology and the sense of place is incredibly detailed. Reading out of order is possible, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Lucky for you, the first book is FREE and the second is only $1.99!

Born with one blue eye and one green, Eyulf was abandoned as an infant and has never understood why, or what he is…Varya is fiercely loyal to the Great North Pack, which took her in when she was a teenager. While out on patrol, Varya finds Eyulf wounded and starving and saves his life, at great risk to her own.

Legend says his eyes portend the end of the world…or perhaps, the beginning…

With old and new enemies threatening the Great North, Varya knows as soon as she sees his eyes that she must keep Eyulf hidden away from the superstitious wolves who would doom them both. Until the day they must fight to the death for the Pack’s survival, side by side and heart to heart…

  • Smoke and Summons

Smoke and Summons by Charlie Holmberg

Smoke and Summons by Charlie N. Holmberg is $1.99 at Amazon! I’m going to unload my thoughts here and say Holmberg’s books are hit or miss with me, though they always sound interesting when it comes to the premise. I’m always tempted to pick them up, but sometimes I find them too inspie or too…gentle for my liking.

A captivating world of demons and dark magic from the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of The Paper Magician novels.

As a human vessel for an ancient spirit, Sandis has never lived an ordinary life. At the command of her master, she can be transformed against her will into his weapon—a raging monster summoned to do his bidding. Unlike other vessels, Sandis can host extremely powerful spirits, but hosting such creatures can be fatal. To stay alive, she must run. And in a city fueled by smoke and corruption, she finds a surprising ally.

A cunning thief-for-hire, Rone owns a rare device that grants him immortality for one minute every day—a unique advantage that will come in handy in Sandis’s fight for freedom. But Sandis’s master knows how powerful she is. He’s determined to get her back, and he has the manpower to find her, wherever she runs.

Now, to outwit her pursuers, Sandis must put all her trust in Rone and his immortal device. For her master has summoned more than mere men to hunt her down . . .

  • The Tethered Mage

The Tethered Mage by Melissa Caruso

The Tethered Mage by Melissa Caruso is $2.99! This is the first book in the Swords and Fire series and part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals. This one seems to straddle the line between YA and New Adult. There was some great discussion in the comments last time it was on sale about a few questionable elements and how they’re handled.

CONTROL THE MAGIC, CONTROL THE WORLD

In the Raverran Empire, magic is scarce and those born with power are strictly controlled — taken as children and conscripted into the Falcon Army. Zaira has lived her life on the streets to avoid this fate, hiding her mage-mark and thieving to survive. But hers is a rare and dangerous magic, one that threatens the entire empire.

Lady Amalia Cornaro was never meant to be a Falconer. Heiress and scholar, she was born into a treacherous world of political machinations.

But fate has bound the heir and the mage. And as war looms on the horizon, a single spark could turn their city into a pyre.

The Tethered Mage is the first novel in a spellbinding new fantasy series.

  1. DonnaMarie says:

The Worst Best Man was pretty enjoyable. There was an interesting take on the scheming ex-girlfriend, in that it’s not hard to feel sorry for her. The older brother/ex-fiancee is a total wanker, and both characters have some fun friends.

Marie Vale’s take on were mythology is fairly original and the writing is lovely. The first book features the pack Omega, which is unusual in and of itself. Elijah in the second book will break your heart, and now I’m off to reserve book #3.

  2. Amara says:

    Love the Caruso books!
I have to say that I was meh on the first book in the Vale series but I hated the misogyny in the second one -every.single.human.female. were awful one-dimensional characters. In both books, the characters felt flat as well. It’s extremely disappointing since this sounded like my catnip.

  3. Ariadna says:

The Worst Best Man was my first book by Mia Sosa and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

Unfortunately for me, I had to DNF the first novel from Maria Vale’s series (and disliked what I read so much that I’m not bothering with the two other books.) It was a combination of the writing being excessively descriptive and never feeling the connection between the MCs. 😐

  4. Deianira says:

Well, that was confusing! I saw the title – The Worst Best Man – & the cover, thought “hmm, why did Lucy Score change the cover? I love that cover!” & belatedly realized it was a completely different book. Which I gleefully bought, & which should hit the top of my TBR list in, oh, August.

And now I need to go reread the Lucy Score one, because it’s one of my all-time favorites. Dammit!

  5. TH says:

I absolutely loved the Maria Vale books. I was surprised at how emotionally invested I became in the characters and their world. It’s a great series. So happy to hear another book will be out soon! Yay!
