The Arrangement
The Arrangement is an anthology containing historical romance novellas from Sylvia Day, Minerva Spencer, and Kristin Vayden. It’s on sale for $1.99! I’m unsure if the Day novella was previously published, but all the stores have a marriage of convenience theme. Some Goodreads reviews mention there being too much sexytimes.
A trio of sizzling historical romances that prove passion is timeless . . .
MISCHIEF AND THE MARQUESS by Sylvia Day
Justin, the Marquess of Fontaine, and Lady Sophie Milton-Riley are completely ill-suited to one another. But they will have to prove it in order to end their mothers’ insistence that they should marry. Yet the more they attempt to demonstrate how wrong their union would be, the more surprisingly, irresistibly right things feel . . .THE DUKE’S TREASURE by Minerva Spencer
Plain, prickly Josephine Loman has loved Beaumont Halliwell, the Fifth Duke of Wroxton, since the first time she saw him. But the most beautiful man she’s ever met had eyes only for Jo’s erstwhile friend, who betrayed Beau’s trust by marrying his brother. Beau hasn’t been home in years, but when his brother dies in an accident, he must marry to save the impoverished dukedom. And Jo is the overlooked heiress who will turn his world upside down . . .THE INCONVENIENT COUNTESS by Kristin Vayden
As the eldest in a poverty-stricken family of daughters, Miss Diana Katherine Lambson’s only option is a marriage of convenience. Her only prospect is a rogue with a miserable reputation. Her only true desire: freedom. And that is exactly what Charles Brook, Earl of Barrington, is willing to offer, in return for the respectability their union will give him. He will even provide Diana with a contract. But does she dare entrust her future to a scoundrel? Does she dare not to?Add to Goodreads To-Read List →

Killing November
Killing November by Adriana Mather is $1.99! I mentioned this one in a previous HYW because hello, an assassin school, and I bought this one during last year’s Independent Bookstore Day. But I have sooo many books and it’s fallen down the TBR pile. Have you read this one?
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of How to Hang a Witch comes a thriller set at a secretive boarding school where students are trained to carry on family legacies that have built–and toppled–empires.
November is trapped.
At the mysterious Academy Absconditi, a school that’s completely off the grid, there’s no electricity, no internet, and a brutal eye-for-an-eye punishment system. Classes include everything from knife-throwing and poisons to the art of deception. And the other students? All children of the world’s most elite strategists, in training to become assassins, spies, and master manipulators. November Adley doesn’t know why she’s been sent to this place, or the secrets that make up its legacy, but she’ll quickly discover that allies are few in a school where competition is everything. When another student is murdered, all eyes turn to November, who must figure out exactly how she fits in before she is found guilty of the crime…or becomes the killer’s next victim.
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author Adriana Mather comes a captivating thriller that will leave you breathless.

Last Call at the Nightshade Lounge
Last Call at the Nightshade Lounge by Paul Krueger is $2.99! The premise of this urban fantasy sounds really cool where the characters battle demons with “magically-mixed cocktails.” Carrie read this one and while she loved the inclusive cast of characters, she thought it’d be a more exciting read.
Bailey Chen is fresh out of college with all the usual new-adult demons: no cash, no job offers, and an awkward relationship with Zane, the old friend she kinda-sorta hooked up with during high school.
But when Zane introduces Bailey to his monster-fighting bartender friends, her demons become a lot more literal. It turns out evil creatures stalk the city streets after hours, and they can only be hunted with the help of magically-mixed cocktails: vodka grants super-strength, whiskey offers the power of telekinesis, and tequila lets its drinker fire blasts of elemental energy. But will all of these powers be enough for Bailey to halt a mysterious rash of gruesome deaths? And what will she do when the safety of a “real world” job beckons?
This sharp and funny urban fantasy is perfect for fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, and grown-up readers of Harry Potter. Includes 14 recipes from a book of ancient cocktail lore.

Loving the Secret Billionaire
Loving the Secret Billionaire by Adriana Anders is 99c! This is a contemporary romance novella, that I believe appeared in one of the Rogue anthologies. I enjoy Anders writing, but struggled with this one. I think I’m just not a novella person.
I was a loner for a reason.
I had too many secrets, too much to hide, and way too much at stake. So, when a stranger showed up at my door, with her talk of saving the world, I should have sent her away.
I didn’t.
I had to have her, even if I was a criminal…and a virgin.
So, I let her in, made her mine.
Then everything went to hell. And I had to decide, just how far would I go to keep my woman?Loving the Secret Billionaire is a sexy standalone novella, in the Love at Last series.
Originally published in the Rogue Affair anthology, this edition has been expanded with new material.

I enjoyed Adriana Anders’s LOVING THE…novellas (SECRET BILLIONAIRE, WOUNDED WARRIOR, MOUNTAIN MAN). They are found in various anthologies, so I hope one day she’ll publish them together in a single collection.

Briarly by Aster Glenn Gray is free on Amazon. It’s a M/M beauty and the beast story. I know it’s been discussed several times on SBTB.
@Cara, I enjoyed Briarley which I read from a loaned copy. Thanks for your post.
@Cara–thank you so much for the heads up on Briarley! I’ve wanted to read it for ages!
I enjoyed Last Call at the Nightshade Lounge, but felt it lacked something. It just seemed ok. The talk about the drinks and they powers they granted was cool.
Sarah
I just read Killing November, and it was really good! Also on sale – a book that I think I heard mentioned here, ice cold death, the first Oona Goodlight book. Urban Paranormal, only on chapter 2, but so far it’s good.
Love Lettering by Kate Clayborn is on sale on kindle for $2.99
I adored the hero of Clayborn’s “Love Lettering”. The stories in “The Arrangement” anthology, not so much. There’s too much sex and not enough personality so I didn’t care that much about the H/h who were having all that sex, although I thought the Vayden was the best of the three.
