Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Kindergarten Teacher with Baby Fever

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO is from Kate who is looking for this contemporary romance:

This was a book I read in the 90s or early aughts. It may have been part of an anthology.

He was a professional athlete. She was a bookish and attractive kindergarten teacher. Her name might have been Violet or something flowery. She wants to have a baby.

She goes on a lake sailing/boating date with some guy while wearing an American flag bikini and falls overboard. She gets picked up by the athlete in his boat. He decides to help her with the baby project, au naturel, at his condo. They develop a relationship, but one of them gets an attorney involved to deal with parenting stuff, and it creates a trust issue. They work it out.

Sound familiar?

    I can’t believe it, but I know this one! It’s called “Lady of the Lake” by Erin McCarthy, and it’s in an anthology, “When Good Things Happen to Bad Boys” (which I confirmed, like a nerd, on my laptop). Her name IS Violet, and he’s a baseball player.

    @Brianna – completely agree! So excited that I know this one too! I just found it on my actual, physical keeper shelf. The attorney gets her story in a later Bad Boys anthology.

    EM wrote four linked stories about 4 friends in Cleveland appearing in different Bad Boys … anthologies (I think they were edited by Lori Foster). I loved all 4 of them. They’re early EM, when she still wrote light, funny romances.

    @Kate – yay!!

    In case you (or anyone) is curious about the series – it’s called the bowling friends series on LibraryThing -https://www.librarything.com/series/Bowling+Friends+%5BErin+McCarthy%5D

  7. Tina says:

    Kind of tangentially related, did Erin McCarthy ever finish our her series about 4 roommates in NYC? The first two books were huge favorites of mine when I first started reading romances.
