  1. Tammy Maddox says:

I go between podcast and audio books.

  2. Jennifer says:

I love podcasts for listening while working or knitting, and audiobooks for my long commute.

  3. Elaine Lerman says:

I have enjoyed the podcasts I have listened to. I particularly enjoyed the back and forth conversation. It is fun when you guys disagree with each other. But I like that you are respectful of each other. I look forward to many more podcasts.

  4. Heather RR says:

I’m still addicted to My Favorite Murder

  5. Gloriamarie Amalfitano says:

I listen to classical music all day long. Specifically, KUSC and I need headphones.

  6. Texas Book Lover (@TexasBookLover) says:

I’m an audiobook gal. I love to be able to listen to a book while driving then pick right up at the same spot and start reading

  7. Janella says:

I love listening to memoirs on audio. And the dala horse pattern on those headphones is really cute!

  8. Been loving the SBTB podcast for years, and now I’m discovering new ones from the Frolic Network! And also a bunch from 365 Women of Star Wars, which features new ones frequently to free us from the fan-bashing patriarchy 😛

  9. Lori says:

I fell in love with the Girl in Space podcast! It’s exactly my cup of sci-fi and humor. She’s finished the first “season” but it ends on a cliffhanger so it’s good to know that going in. I still highly recommend it!

  10. Lynette says:

I listened to both audiobooks and podcasts this year. Definitely recommend the Bride Test audiobook. I love Emily Woo Zeller’s narration in anything.

  11. Sue says:

    1. The SBTB podcast!! (I’m not just trying to suck up — I really do listen to nearly every episode and I’ve written in a few times!)
    2. I have a hard time with audiobooks (I get distracted and lose my place), but have found that nonfiction or biography are much easier for me in audio than in written format. I especially love gossipy true life biographies, like John Carreyou’s Bad Blood or Pamela Hicks’s Daughter of Empire.

  12. Stephanie says:

    Such cute headphones!

This last year has been a lot of podcasts – especially Radiolab, SawBones, Dolly Parton’s America

I have a few audiobooks lines up, I’m especially looking forward to Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men.

And of course music- all the music- especially Lizzo, Sia, Chris Stapleton, Seether, Shinedown, and Pop Evil lately.

  13. Anita H. says:

I’m not into audio books so I’ve been listening to a lot music and a movie review podcast that I get a real kick out of. Thank you for the chance to win!

  14. Sabrina says:

I listen to some NPR and PRI podcasts, like The World and Planet Money, but music is still my primary listen. Keeps me sane in a noisy cubicle at work.

  15. Kate says:

I don’t do a lot of listening because I tune out audio if I’m focusing on anything else, but I have been loving listening to nonfiction books from my TBR while I’m driving. I get through it a lot faster in 15-20 minute chunks on my commute than I would if I sat down to read it!

  16. denise says:

Love Bubbly Sesh and Deck the Hallmark.

  17. Caroline says:

Ok, honestly? I have yet to jump on the podcast bandwagon. I love listening to music, but have, since a child, struggled with people reading aloud to me. I find it irritating. As an adult, I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD, and I assume that may be a good part of the reason why. The only podcast I listen to regularly is Terry Gross’s Fresh Air, because I love her interviews.

  18. Valerie says:

I listen to music, audiobooks and podcasts depending on my mood. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of hockey podcasts.

  19. ShellyE says:

I have mostly been listening to podcasts! A few audiobooks but podcasts have taken over my life! Everything from true crime to politics to book-related.

  20. I really liked listening to Debbie Harry’s autobiography. Her voice is super unique and her manner is super fresh. I’ve got a lot of credits to use up on audiobooks so I will be watching all the comments here!

  21. Beth says:

I’ve loved podcasts this year. Some of my favorites: Adrift with Geoff Lloyd and Anabel Port, Bitch Sesh, Office Ladies, You Must Remember This, Cocaine and Rhinestones, and HBO’s Official Watchmen Podcast.

  22. Diana says:

I’ve loved listening to my kids listen to Wow in the World, an NPR podcast. The giggles! The delight! Personally, I enjoy listening to Esther Perel, after I saw her speak over the summer. And I have Lizzo and Beyoncé on repeat for my morning commute pleasure!

  23. Hannah says:

I’ve been listening to the Dresden Files on audiobook lately. James Marsters does a fantastic job on the narration, and it’s been a fun way to spread out the re-read until the new book comes out in July.

  24. Laine says:

I just got into Rusty Quill Gaming podcast. But I’ve also listened to all the Murderbot books this year.

  25. Cortney says:

I listen to a lot of podcasts daily, but my favorite one right now is Buffering the Vampire Slayer where the hosts do a re-watch of all seven season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It’s my favorite show of all-time so I really enjoy re-watching the episodes and listening to their comments on them.

  26. Lesley says:

My new favorite podcast is “Dave and Jeb Aren’t Mean” where they discuss the movies of the Hallmark channel. It’s the most erudite podcast out there about TV. And you don’t even have to watch the movies to enjoy the podcast! https://daveandjebarentmean.libsyn.com/

  27. Janice says:

The packaging is great. Those horses: they’re just like the Norwegian wooden horses I grew up with!

As for listening: I mostly listen to podcasts while I’m working out at the gym. SBTB is big in the rotation along with a bunch of stuff that’s related to my professional (history, academia) interests. One of my resolutions for 2020 is to do more “fun” podcasting listening!

  28. Sean says:

Lots of podcasts. Big fan of Pop Culture Happy Hour, Hit Parade, and Ya Jagoff!

  29. Diana Steiner says:

I like cooking & sewing podcasts but am WAY behind…

  30. Scifigirl1986 says:

I’ve listened to a lot of “murder podcasts” as my mom calls them. I started the year with Hollywood Crime Scene and eventually added Wine and Crime and And That’s Why We Drink. They’re all so good—I cannot pick a favorite.

  31. Sally says:

As a fiber need, I’m loving Yarnstories and Love to Sew podcasts. The examples of creativity are so inspiring!

  32. BilliJo Yelle says:

My favorite audio books this year have been the Inn Keepers Series by ilona Andrews.

  33. Sally says:

    I meant fiber *nerd*

  34. Diane Lanier says:

O.k. I’m old school. I listen mostly to music (currently the British Invasion of the 60s). I do like to This American LIfe and NPR.

  35. Nadine says:

Audiobooks. I discovered the entire Daisy Dalrymple series by Carola Dunn on Hoopla and finished those. Now I’m starting in on the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters in audiobook form. I’ve read them all and revisiting them in audio is great. I find that it’s better for me to listen to books I’ve already read if I’m driving.

  36. Dawn Roberto says:

I discovered true crime podcasts and it makes work night go faster listening to them.

  37. Tina Smith says:

Podcasts are my jam! I focus mainly on true crime and podcasts about books. Besides Smart Bitches (of course), I was so happy to discover the Learning the Tropes and Fated Mates podcasts this year. Nothing makes a boring recumbent bike or a long commute better than a podcast.

  39. Heather says:

I discovered a podcast about my favorite hockey team (and the sport in general) by four fabulous feminists. I was supporting their Patreon after one episode and have plenty of backlist to work through. Sincerely delightful.

(It’s called “You Can’t Do That” for any Caps fans in the comments)

  40. Bibliomancer says:

I just took up listening to podcasts this year to increase my productivity at work, and it does seem to be helping! (Data entry is so boring I get distracted easily if I don’t have something else to occupy part of my attention.) I got sucked into The Magnus Archive by recommendations and even though horror is usually REALLY not my thing, I’m hooked.
Otherwise I’m mostly listening to nonfiction. The Medieval Podcast, scattered episodes of History on Fire, Dressed (fashion history) and Beyond Huaxia (Chinese history and culture) have been favorites so far! I’ve learned a lot of interesting this so far, and I have a bunch more to try. I’ve also heard some good author interviews on Skiffy and Fanty, although I’m trying to be careful with spoilers, there.
