• Playing It Cool

  

  Playing It Cool by Amy Andrews is $2.99! This is the second book in the Sydney Smoke Rugby series and features a fake relationship! Some readers thought the chemistry between the hero and heroine was top-notch, but some felt the ending was a bit rushed. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.

  Score one for the curvy girls!

  Harper Nugent might have a little extra junk in her trunk, but her stepbrother calling her out on it is the last straw… When rugby hottie, Dexter Blake, witnesses the insult, he surprises Harper by asking her out. In front of her dumbass brother. Score! Of course, she knows it’s not for reals, but Dex won’t take no for an answer.

  Dexter Blake’s life revolves around rugby with one hard and fast rule: no women. Sure, his left hand is getting a workout, but he’s focused on his career for now. Then he overhears an asshat reporter belittle the curvy chick he’d been secretly ogling. What’s a guy to do but ask her out? It’s just a little revenge against a poser, and then he’ll get his head back in the game.

  But the date is better than either expected. So is the next one. And the next. And the heat between them…sizzles their clothes right off.

• Tomboy

  

  Tomboy by Avery Flynn is $3.99! This is a contemporary romance with an athlete hero and a fake relationship. It sounds really fun and I think I’ll be picking this one up. This is the third book in The Hartigans series and readers either say this one is their favorite by far, or it’s their least fave. Have you read the series?

  How exactly has one good deed landed me in the penalty box?

  Ice Knights defenseman Zach Blackburn has come down with the flu, and my BFF—his PR manager—begs me to put my nursing degree to use and get him back to health. Of course she would call in a favor for the most hated man in Harbor City.

  But when he’s finally on the mend and I’m sneaking out of his place, everything goes sideways. Paparazzi spot me and pictures, plus accusations that I slept with him, fly faster than a hockey puck.

  At first, all of Harbor City wants my blood—or to give me a girlie-girl makeover. But then…the team finally wins a game. And now this fickle town wants me with the big jerk twenty-four seven.

• Playing with Fire

  

  Playing with Fire by R.J. Blain is 99c! This is described as a “magical romantic comedy” and yes, that appears to be a unicorn on the cover. And I believe that unicorn is also a shifter of sorts. Some readers found this to be more on the bizarre side, which…fair point. While others found themselves laughing out loud.

  Warning: This novel contains excessive humor, action, excitement, adventure, magic, romance, and bodies. Proceed with caution.

  What do you get when you mix gorgons, an incubus, and the Calamity Queen? Trouble, and lots of it.

  Working as the only human barista at a coffee shop catering to the magical is a tough gig on a good day. Bailey Gardener has few options. She can either keep spiking drinks with pixie dust to keep the locals happy, or spend the rest of her life cleaning up the world’s nastiest magical substances.
