  • The Most Dangerous Duke in London

The Most Dangerous Duke in London by Madeline Hunter

The Most Dangerous Duke in London by Madeline Hunter is $1.99! This is book one in the Decadent Dukes Society series and all three books are on sale. The hero wants revenge and the heroine just wants to go about publishing her women’s journal. Readers like the enemies to lovers aspect of the romance, but others wouldn’t recommend this one on audio as the narrator didn’t fit for them.

Three sinfully handsome dukes, three scores to settle, three hearts about to meet their matches. All in one thrilling new trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Madeline Hunter . . .

    NOTORIOUS NOBLEMAN SEEKS REVENGE
Name and title: Adam Penrose, Duke of Stratton.
Affiliation: London’s elite Society of Decadent Dukes.
    Family history: Scandalous.
Personality traits: Dark and brooding, with a thirst for revenge.
Ideal romantic partner: A woman of means, with beauty and brains, willing to live with reckless abandon.
Desire: Clara Cheswick, gorgeous daughter of his family’s sworn enemy.

FAINT OF HEART NEED NOT APPLY
Clara may be the woman Adam wants, but there’s one problem: she’s far more interested in publishing her women’s journal than getting married—especially to a man said to be dead-set on vengeance. Though, with her nose for a story, Clara wonders if his desire for justice is sincere—along with his incredibly unnerving intention to be her husband. If her weak-kneed response to his kiss is any indication, falling for Adam clearly comes with a cost. But who knew courting danger could be such exhilarating fun?

  • Hold Your Breath

Hold Your Breath by Katie Ruggle

RECOMMENDEDHold Your Breath by Katie Ruggle is $1.99 This is the first book in the romantic suspense Search and Rescue series. It’s part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals. Elyse gave the book a B grade:

While the suspense and action were intense, I found the romance to be a little tame. Part of it was that we never get inside Callum’s head. The book is mostly 3rd person POV from Louise’s perspective.

In the remote Rocky Mountains, lives depend on the Search & Rescue brotherhood. But in a place this far off the map, trust is hard to come by and secrets can be murder…

As the captain of Field County’s ice rescue dive team, Callum Cook is driven to perfection. But when he meets new diver Louise “Lou” Sparks, all that hard-won order is obliterated in an instant. Lou is a hurricane. A walking disaster. And with her, he’s never felt more alive…even if keeping her safe may just kill him.

Lou’s new to the Rockies, intent on escaping her controlling ex, and she’s determined to make it on her own terms…no matter how tempting Callum may be. But when a routine training exercise unearths a body, Lou and Callum find themselves thrust into a deadly game of cat and mouse with a killer who will stop at nothing to silence Lou-and prove that not even her new Search and Rescue family can keep her safe forever.

  • How to Marry a Royal Highlander

How to Marry a Royal Highlander by Vanessa Kelly

How to Marry a Royal Highlander by Vanessa Kelly is $1.99 at most vendors! This is part of the Renegade Royals series. Readers love the playful banter between the hero and heroine, and the road trip element. However, others recommend reading the previous books in the series before this one.

Illegitimate yet thoroughly irresistible, the Renegade Royals are leaving behind their careers as daring spies for the greatest adventure of all…

At sixteen, Alasdair Gilbride, heir to a Scottish earldom, fled the Highlands and an arranged betrothal. Ten years later, Alasdair must travel home to face his responsibilities. It’s a task that would be much easier without the distracting presence of the most enticing woman he’s ever met…

After one escapade too many, Eden Whitney has been snubbed by the ton. The solution: rusticating in the Scottish wilderness, miles from all temptation. Except, of course, for brawny, charming Alasdair. The man is so exasperating she’d likely kill him before they reach the border—if someone else weren’t trying to do just that. Now Eden and Alasdair are plunging into a scandalous affair with his life and her reputation at stake—and their hearts already irreparably lost…

  • Air Awakens

    Air Awakens by Elise Kova

Air Awakens by Elise Kova is 99c at Amazon! I’ve read one of Kova’s other series and really enjoyed the writing. This is a fantasy series that was picked for a previous Vaginal Fantasy Romance book club. I also appreciate the author’s answer about the levels of romance in this book and the series overall.

A library apprentice, a sorcerer prince, and an unbreakable magic bond…

The Solaris Empire is one conquest away from uniting the continent, and the rare elemental magic sleeping in seventeen-year-old library apprentice Vhalla Yarl could shift the tides of war.

Vhalla has always been taught to fear the Tower of Sorcerers, a mysterious magic society, and has been happy in her quiet world of books. But after she unknowingly saves the life of one of the most powerful sorcerers of them all–the Crown Prince Aldrik–she finds herself enticed into his world. Now she must decide her future: Embrace her sorcery and leave the life she’s known, or eradicate her magic and remain as she’s always been. And with powerful forces lurking in the shadows, Vhalla’s indecision could cost her more than she ever imagined.

  1. Lisa F says:

Vanessa Kelly has sadly never really worked for me. I think it’s their plotting.

The hunter and I think the Ruggle are petty good!

  2. Emma Ghows says:

Maybe I missed amazing character development later on in the book (I DNF), but I’m kinda surprised at the positive mention for Air Awakens. The writing was only OK, but my biggest concern was that Aldrik would constantly lie to Vhalla and put her in dangerous, even deadly situations without informing her what she was getting into. Then it’s of course played off as “if I’d told you, you would have NEVER discovered your true power!11!1 And if you had died, then oh well.” So I DNF because I knew I was never going to get the story I wanted, which had Vhalla executing a brilliant revenge and finding true love with a castle servant or something.

  3. Tina says:

Why is the ice rescue guy running around outside without a shirt on. Seems like it would be a bit nipply.

  4. SB Sarah says:

@Tina…maybe even a tit nipply?? *snicker*

  5. Michelle says:

I really really like Katie Ruggle but agree that the POV in her books can be a bit odd.

  6. Stefka says:

I’m not a Katie Ruggle fan. I tried 2 novellas in this “Search and Rescue” series and the first ended up being a hate-read (hoping it would get better) and the other was a DNF (after trying to give the author another chance). While the characters had potential, the prose and storytelling seemed stilted and way over the top. I kept saying “seriously?!” as the plot twists kept piling up.

I do have real-life experience in outdoor rescue, and so maybe part of it is that I have a harder time suspending my disbelief in this genre. An author I *would* recommend is Pamela Clare, I found her Colorado High Country series to have more authenticity.

  7. Denise says:

Emma, I was the same way! I also DNF’ed Air Awakens. I’m all for brooding alpha heroes, but I thought it was bordering on abuse. When I brought up specific examples of things that arent okay to others, it was always brushed off as there’s perfectly good explanation for the hero’s violence or that I should just quickly breeze over those sections to enjoy it. *rolls eyes* Some things aren’t justifiable in my opinion. (And agreed the writing was just okay).
