Links: Firefighters, Lisa Frank, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Hey hey! It’s Wednesday! At least, I think it is. I can already feel the holiday season starting to snowball. Anyone else? No? Just me?

We hope you all are having a fantastic week and are reading some great books. If not, that’s a-okay! Let’s rally, push through the afternoon, and then get cozy at home for some restorative care and some relaxing activities.

Looking for some fantasy reads with a queer romantic subplot? Author Ginn Hale has some recommendations for you!

So…there’s a Lisa Frank themed hotel now?

Speaking of Lisa Frank, I will never forget this profile from Jezebel.

Don’t miss Sarah in conversation with Christina Lauren! Mark your calendars for October 23rd at 7pm at One More Page Books.

CLo is doing a great tour this fall. They’ll even be in the Boston area! And you can bet your ass I’ll be there.

The 2020 Australian Firefighter Calendars are live! I love the variety: horses, wildlife, dogs, cats, and farm animals! The sales of the calendars help support the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Did you squee along with me and AJ in our Gideon the Ninth podcast episode? The next book in the series has a cover!

Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

My goddaughter and I may have to make a road trip to a Lisa Frank hotel. We <3 her designs!

True story, I used to equip my desk and cubicle with everything Lisa Frank. The guys left it alone. If they "borrowed" one of my pencils the culprit was easily found.

@Nan de Plume: You might also enjoy Leslie Garis’s THE HOUSE OF HAPPY ENDINGS. Her grandparents also wrote for syndicates—The Bobbsey Twins and Tom Swift among others. The book focuses more on family dynamics than on writing for syndicate publishers, but there’s plenty of information about that too—including the anger of the publishers when writers wanted to out themselves as the authors of popular series.

I have seen the cover already, but yes. Just all the yes. I want to be Harrow.

Book-adjacent link (because books and cats are a natural pairing) Kitties in Therapy!

For Mental Health Awareness Day, a striking article from Tor.com: https://www.tor.com/2019/10/10/the-pain-of-elantris-depression-in-the-fantasy-of-brandon-sanderson/#more-506990

This is me. Even though I am not bipolar, but have a different form of depression, this is me.
