A Scandalous Proposal
A Scandalous Proposal by Kasey Michaels is $1.99! This is a historical romance and the second book in The Little Season series. Readers recommend this one for a silly and light romance, while others mentioned they didn’t care for the hero and heroine’s frequent sexual fraternizing.
Who would have thought a man could tire of being fawned over and flirted with? Ever since Cooper Townsend returned from France as a hero with a new title, he has been relentlessly pursued by every marriageable miss in London. Perhaps that’s why the unconventional Miss Daniella Foster is so appealing. She doesn’t simper or flatter. She only wants him to help unmask her sister’s blackmailer, and Coop has never been so intrigued…
Let every other woman in London fight over His Lordship’s romantic attentions. Marriage is the last thing on Dany’s mind…at least until she samples his illicit kisses. Now, as a mutual enemy races to ruin Coop’s reputation and Dany’s family name, an engagement of convenience will spark an unlikely passion that might save them both

My Favorite Mistake
My Favorite Mistake by Chelsea M. Cameron is $2.99! This is a new adult contemporary romance where the hero and heroine are roommates. Some readers didn’t like the heroine at all and found her to be immature. But others loved the sexual tension between the hero and heroine. Have you read this one?
Two secrets. One bet. Who will break first?
Taylor Caldwell can’t decide if she wants to kiss her new college roommate or punch him.
On the one hand, Hunter Zaccadelli is a handsome blue-eyed bundle of charm. On the other, he’s a tattooed, guitar-playing bad boy. Maybe that’s why Taylor’s afraid of falling in love with him, or anyone else. She doesn’t want to get burned, so she needs him gone before it’s too late.
Hunter himself has been burned before, but Taylor’s sexy laugh and refusal to let him get away with anything make her irresistible. Determined not to be kicked out of her life without a fight, Hunter proposes a bet: if she can convince him she either truly loves or hates him, he’ll leave the apartment—and leave her alone.
But when the man behind Taylor’s fear of giving up her heart resurfaces, she has to decide: trust Hunter with her greatest secret, or do everything in her power to win that bet and drive him away forever.

The Will
The Will by Kristen Ashley is $1.99! This is the first book in her Magdalene series. Reviewers found this to be an emotional read, and recommend that if you’ve never read Ashley, this is a good place to start. However, some thought the heroine desperately needed a backbone and some self-confidence. The adaption is currently being filmed for PassionFlix!
Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant.
While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing disguised about Jake. Including the fact he made a habit of making very bad decisions about who to give his love.
But for Josephine and Jake, there was one person who adored them. One person who knew how to lead them to happiness. And one person who was intent on doing it.
Even if she had to do it as her final wish on this earth.

The Derby Girl
The Derby Girl by Tamara Morgan is $2.99! This is an opposites attract romance between a derby girl (whose derby name is Honey Badger!) and a doctor. Readers loved how different the characters seemed, but some say that nothing really happened in the book. This is the second book in the Getting Physical series and you can grab all three books for around $5.
Roller derby girl Gretchen “Honey Badger” Badgerton lives in the moment, no apologies. Like every woman in Pleasant Park with a pulse, she finds Dr. Jared Fine irresistible, but she’s taken by surprise when her unattainable new neighbor asks her out.
On paper, Jared is the perfect man: gorgeous, wealthy and charitable. But his golden image is just that, and opening an upstate practice is a welcome chance to start a new life. When Gretchen stops to help him with a flat tire, he’s intrigued by her feisty attitude—and her sexy body art. There’s something refreshing about being with a take-charge woman who doesn’t expect him to be anything but himself.
Though Gretchen is hesitant to shatter Jared’s “bad girl” illusion of her, she has to face facts: she’s fallen for the good doctor. She’s used to putting everyone else’s needs before hers, but as their relationship heats up, can she handle having someone take care of her for a change?

Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer is $1.99 right now. The longer Crusie novels don’t go on sale very often. I got a great deal on a bundle of hers a couple years ago but this book wasn’t part of it. Super excited to see it on sale since I’ve been wearing down my paperback copy with all my re-reads.
This is just me being curious—but did Ren elect to put her comment in what I think of as a “spoiler box” or was that a moderator decision? The reason I ask is because I read Ren’s comment earlier today and, iirc, it was not then in a box—and I really don’t see the reason why it should be. It’s not as if her comment is favorable to the rape culture or uses offensive language.
Whoops- my apologies. I had commented after editing but my comment didn’t post. I put the comment in spoiler tags because there is so much news today about K*avanaugh and discussions of rape, and I wanted to be sensitive to folks who might be feeling a bit raw and unsettled today as a result. I’m very sorry that my comment explaining didn’t go through – thank you for asking.
Tamara Morgan also writes under the name of Lucy Gilmore. The first book in a romance series she’s writing featuring a trio of sisters who run a service puppy placement and training busines, Puppy Love, is on sale for $1.99. I read the second book and thought it was cute, but this one is even cuter, with a rough, gruff, diabetic firefighter being matched with an utterly adorable Pomeranian puppy (and falling for the sister who is helping him train it).
The heroine was named Taylor Caldwell???
That’s like naming the heroine Danielle Steele.
@Marci – Thanks for the ANGES AND THE HITMAN sale tip. I didn’t have it in electronic format and it is one of my favorite feel good novels. It reminds me the power of a well cooked breakfast and a cast iron pan can have to change the world (or at least the hearts of assassins/teenage jewel thieves/ mob men). Now if I can just keep myself from starting to re-read it during lunch…
@JenM – I just read the second book too and it’s as cute as a button. Now I want to read her roller derby romance!
How are you all reading the second in the Forever Home series by Lucy Gilmore?? I loved the first book and can’t wait till the second, but according to my amazon it isn’t available till Sept 24th. I am super jealous right now!
@Angst-ridden Goddess-HA! I thought the same thing about the Taylor Caldwell name-I read a ton of her books back in the 1970’s.
Oh, sorry, I read a review copy of Puppy Christmas. I forgot that it wasn’t out quite yet. I adore animals but am cursed with severe allergies so I’m a total sucker for cute animals in books. I’m especially happy with this series because the animals are an integral part of the story, not just window dressing.
@Lisa F – the roller derby romance was the first one of hers that I read and I really enjoyed it. Both leads had challenges to overcome in interpersonal relationships. I read it quite awhile ago so I don’t remember it that well but my notes say “pleasantly angsty” LOL.
